  • I'm exploring Sandton City Mall in Sandton - Johannesburg Metropolitan South Africa.
Sandton City is a large shopping mall situated in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.[2] It was built and owned by property development company Rapp and Maister, in partnership with brothers Hilliard and Eli Leibowitz, and was later taken over by Liberty Life (now part of Liberty Holdings Limited).
The centre opened to the public on 12 September 1973[1] and has a gross leasable area of 128,000 m2 (1,380,000 sq ft) of retail space. The office space combined with the Sandton Sun Hotel increase the total area to 215,000 m2 (2,310,000 sq ft). Together, Sandton City and the adjacent Nelson Mandela Square (formerly Sandton Square) form one of the largest retail complexes in Africa with shops such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Patek Phillipe, Dolce & Gabbana and other exclusive boutiques - sometimes referred to as "the richest square mile in Africa"

The "mall" is one-stop shopping in South Africa. You have banks, supermarkets, mall shopping, theatres.

Oh yes that mall has everything. It kinda reminds of some malls in the US where you have to go through the whole mall to get to one particular store. I don't recall seeing many entrances.

Do not believe all the hyperbolic crap you hear in Africa in general, but South Africa in particular. When my little brother was a grad student at University of Witwatersrand, the showed him a little lake, and proudly informed them this was the biggest man made lake in Africa. When he informed them of the inland ocean called Lake Kariba, that was made in 1956 to 1958, and occupies the biggest part of the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, they were ignorant of it, and quite perplexed. Two days ago, I was watching a video on TH-cam about the plan to create the Grand Inga project, and someone stated that the Inga Falls on the Congo River are the biggest in Africa. Again, on the same Zambezi river on which the Kariba Dam sits, we have the Musi O Tunya Falls, which are not only the biggest Falls in the world, are classified as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and make Niagara Falls between the US and Canada look like an overflowing bathroom sink, and therefore make the Inga Falls pale into oblivion by comparison. These South Africans do not know how much money Nigerian billionaires have stolen. Now, they are in the process of using a small part of it to build a their own Dubai out there in the Atlantic Ocean, which is going to be called Eko City....

Sandton being the richest square mile in Africa is not by South Africans own upliftment is by standard... Rated by the world's Bank. Is regarding wealth. There is no square mile richer than Sandton in Africa... Just accept reality.
Don't come at me I'm not fighting, I'm just telling the truth.
I know you want to defend Ur city... But it just don't work like that. Nigeria is the richest in Africa and South Africa is the most developed in Africa.. so what's a big deal 😞.

And also the number of rich people in Johannesburg are at 14 400 compared to the second city which is Cairo of Egypt at 7 400 and the third one being Cape town at 7 200 so this should show you some light... That Sandton which makes most of Joburg wealth is big in Africa in terms of wealth.
