What about in a diesel application? Have been told when running compounds its very beneficial to drill the divider to gate all 6 cylinders in order to keep drive pressure down and pass it onto the larger charger

Great advice! I've learned a ton from this channel so far!
I've got a long way to go but I'm pretty sure I can confidently say what features a quality turbo has outside of it's price tag now, for the most part.
I'm not sure if you read all your comments but thanks man!

Drilling the divider isn’t a good thing guys, it changes the pulse width energy across the turbine and in some cases drilling too large has been known to cause massive surge issues.
Holset gated 1 side because one it’s easy, two when you gate the rear 3 cylinders on the in-line engines the lower pressure of the rear scroll in the turbine housing will pull the gases threw the front scroll quicker across the turbine. It actually effects both halves of the bank. It may not seem like it but flow bench testing and thermal dynamic testing has proven it to be effective. Drilling the divider has some other negative effects as well. If you need a full flow threw gated holset go to a HE351, the WG setup in those are much better for top end power when the gate is open. Less sharp angles and flows direct into the down pipe. Much better setup for performance.

You should have warned not to use the internal wastegate on a holset on a gasoline vehicle. Controlling the boost with only one scroll. The cylinders that blow into the gated scroll will have more volumetric efficiency and will run lean when the gate opens. So if you run a twin scroll holset on a twin scroll manifold on a gasoline vehicle use an external wastegate

The 2 cylinders that are not wastegated will run leaner GUARANTEED on a 4-1 2-3 setup.
Trying to use this housing on a divided setup is a bad idea. Either mill the divided to make it sharp edge and run it as an open housing or block the internal wastegate an run 2x externals.

it doesn't delete the twin scroll, I think it will balance the pressure since firing order is uneven if you take each side individually, and you still have two exit points in the casting to spin the exhaust wheel.

I've watched several of your videos now and I just have 1 question... how much do you smoke before these videos?

In this application, this turbo and a diesel it’s not really about boost it’s about drive pressure, specifically in a compound setup. It’s not gating the three cylinders that already run the hottest anyway.

Why does holset only bleed one scroll? seems a bad design.

Nice info, how can I max performance or flow of my ct26 from a mr2?

    Is a hx30 equivalent to a garret gt30?
