- This is why the hy35 turbo is being replaced with hx35 turbo upgrade. The hy35 has oil residue all over the lower half of the compressor housing. I think that the oil drain gasket on the hy35 is bad and leaking oil. I also need to rebuild the hy35 turbo because it is worn out. The hx35 turbo will be installed on the 24 valve after i get new bolts for the exhaust elbow. I've also got a new oil feed fitting being sent to me over night for the hx35. I could use the oil feed from the hy35 with a new o-ring, but I'd rather install a new one. The hy35 leaking oil is why it is getting replaced with a hx35 and also because the hx35 will give the 2nd gen cummins better air flow with the 125hp injectors from Diesel Auto Power. I'm pumped to make content on hy35 vs. hx35 and see how they match up against each other!

may your hy35 not be all buggered up like mine is. My snap ring is seized on the compressor housing and the turbine housing is completely rusted onto the chra the struggle is very real
I'm sure mine will be in the same shape when I go to crack it open. The hx35 was the same way and very frustrating to get apart. My hy35 has been leaking oil for a little bit now too, so we'll how easily it pops open. I'll start messing with it soon probably.
Well then not trying to sound lime I'm being mean or a smart ass but..... I'm looking forward to seeing how you approach taking yours apart to see if you do anything that might be useful or my current situation with mine
ronnie cason I will try to get it done sooner than later and get a video up on that and then I'll do the rebuild process afterwards sometime. It took me a lot of heating and beating on the hx35.
so far i have had to buy pb blaster because wd40 sucks snap ring pliers a butane torch a deadblow hammer and a pick set lol. So far I'm into it for about 220 total 85 for the turbo from a pick and pull junk yard 65 for the rebuild kit from turbo lab america and the rest is in tools

Yeah, I'd like to see it when you get it. I'm definitely going to have them do mine too, but i'm curious to see the sizes of the wheels and stuff.
