Madame was the best. I always loved her on this show. Wayland Flowers was a genius in bringing her to life. Nobodyelse could duplicate that. She has her place in popular culture. On Will and Grace season 7 Karen compared herself with glasses to Madame. She said " When I saw that hideous face all I could think of was I should be wearing a feather boa and Wayland Flowers should have his hand up my ass!" LOL!
ooo I loove Madam! She needs her on TH-cam channel with weekly shows or something like that. She looks alot like Joan Rivers too... or rather Joan looks like HER now lol great post :)
Madame was on for about 3 seasons. If you see the intro you will see "Wayland Flowers & Madame". Wayland was the other half of the "dou". Wayland died in 1988 at the age of 49 and supposedly Madame is buried with him.
I know that Waylan had many different Madame puppets and the part about her being buried with him is pretty much now an "urban legend" and part of that legend is that the one buried with him was the "first" Madame.
RocCity Plowing & Lawncare Inc, .....some shows Wayland and Madame were on, they show Wayland speaking holding Madame. He didn't conceal speaking like other ventriloquists did. Trippy!!!!
Ok...first lbCharmed, I am officially back! As in how long Waylon Flowers and Madame lasted on SG, Seasons 1-4. I thought it was so funny when Madame would flirt with Tony and Alex. During Season 4, Madame had her own "radio station" on SG called "K-Droop."
The human model for Madame was probably a composite of many people but the elderly hostess at a restaurant on DuPont Circle was rumoured to be the model for the face. The hostess definitely resembles the puppet.
Wayland Flowers wasn't a ventriloquist, he was a puppeteer. There's a difference! Before every live show he performs with Madame, he always says to the audience that, he's not a ventriloquist.
Welcome back! OK - but she wasn't on during the entire season 1 and I don't think she was there for the entire season 4, either (am I wrong?). So would that be about 3 seasons, give or take a few episodes? Just trying to clarify . . .
I don't know why you'd say "Something like that U would expect from the 1990's-NOT the 1980's!". AIDS cases and deaths started being reported in 1980 and most people diagnosed with the disease were only given about 2 years to live since they had no way of testing to diagnose the it that once they figured it out, you were pretty much gone. By the 1990's it was a full scale world threat.
@OLDSCHOOLHHSEX Basically up until the point when Rock Hudson came forward people had heard about it, new it was spreading but didn't know anyone that had been affected by it. He was the macho "ladies man" from the 50 & 60's so when he came forward - he also outed himself because at that time "only gays got it". He was the 1st person the international public could now say they "knew" somebody who got AIDS. A horrible to be associated with for eternity.
Raja brought me here and I'm LOVING IT !!
There's no reason that 'Madame' cannot live on forever. She's a classic.
I remember when Madame's Place was on TV. It's such a shame that Wayland Flowers passed away in 1988. Thanks for posting these, they are great!
That guy Wayland was so talented...I remember watching Solid Gold as a kid just to watch Madame. Good Stuff 👍
Remembering Madame in 2024 🎉💐🌟
MADAM! Wow I watched this show as a little girl! She was the ONLY reason I watched!

I miss her. If she was alive I would tell her that she was (and is) my favorite puppet.

Wayland Flowers was so talented that sometimes one forgets that Madame is a puppet.

The makeup, the hair...women were lovely, like little Christmas gifts, in the 80's. You don't appreciate a good thing until it's gone.

I heard Wayland Flowers was cremated. I would like to know the gravesite, if this is true.
I saw a Madame puppet in the puppet museum in Atlanta.
Reminds me of getting my hair combed as a little girl 🎀. My Mom would be watching.

Well the dancers didn't actually start having speaking rolls til season 5. That's one good thing Rick Dees added.
That puppet use to creep me the hell out.
RocCity Plowing & Lawncare Inc, .....some shows Wayland and Madame were on, they show Wayland speaking holding Madame. He didn't conceal speaking like other ventriloquists did. Trippy!!!!
RocCity Plowing & Lawncare Inc, Me toooo! She terrified me! 😂😂😂
Me too. I was scrolling for this comment even if it is years old. 😂
LOL! She always cracked me up!
The dark girl in the back at 4;15 was the dancer in Kool and the Gang's tune "Fresh". She can move like no tomorrow.
Actually BOTH Tony and Alex were in "A Chorus Line - The Movie". Tony landed the role of Al DeLuca, while Alex was an auditioner.
I miss Madame
Nettie Newsom

Madame is a national treasure!!!!

Actually, Joe Kovacs brought back Madame in July 2006 in a play called "A Comeback For Abroad."
Wayland was the man who worked the puppet AND did the voice of known to the world as Madame.
Classy puppet

Hey Lana2k6, it's been a while, good to see you!! And you're welcome!
Madame Rocks!!!
Madame was designed to look just like Dionne Warwick. Talks like her too.
The dancer Tony starred in a few movies.
Marilyn McCoo was absolutely smoking hot!!!!!
📺 I used to watched this with my mom & dad when I was 14yrs old! 💃
She's so hilarious she really sucks you in to the hysterical great humor!
Raja made me come here
The human model for Madame was probably a composite of many people but the elderly hostess at a restaurant on DuPont Circle was rumoured to be the model for the face. The hostess definitely resembles the puppet.
Marilyn Mccoo is absolutely stunning. 😮
Bring her back!!!!
The best ventriloquist. Lv u madame n Wayland.
Wayland Flowers wasn't a ventriloquist, he was a puppeteer. There's a difference! Before every live show he performs with Madame, he always says to the audience that, he's not a ventriloquist.

OK - but she wasn't on during the entire season 1 and I don't think she was there for the entire season 4, either (am I wrong?). So would that be about 3 seasons, give or take a few episodes? Just trying to clarify . . .
Looking at this at 50 yrs its hilarious..but as a child...I was kind scared of Madame, though..nobody knew...
Paul Williams was part of “Batman: The Animated Series”. Do you know which character he voiced?
Of course! Loved that cartoon. He voiced Penguin.
lbCharmed1 Yup!
I was always under the impression she was one of the muppets...guess not huh?
Me too!!!

@CobraCutie - you're very welcome!
Agreed, Tony = *sigh*
Soo... has anyone ever noticed the resemblance between Madame and Evelyn from Basketball Wives??? ....You're Welcome!
I'm still shocked that Neil Sedaka is straight?!
I came to this video following a very weird TH-cam rabbit hole.... From the Boys TV show where they kinda parodied this show
