Never doubt that a master fabricator can marry a international bed to a Ford truck to a Chevy lift and make it work on the fly! Paul you are a master. and along with your brother Ben, the challenges Fab Rats sees on a daily basis will be met and conquered! Any company would love to have Fab Rats on their team! Thank you all for your sharing, thank you Michelle for your expert editing! I can hardly wait to see what comes next...

I was screaming at the TV, "nooooo don't weld that!" Lol. The frame you had going forward actually goes underneath the lift to hold it up at rest. You put the lift in place and let the bed all the way down before connecting so the lift rests properly. Did a lot of these back in the day including a pto wet kit.

I don't hate the reason for doing the bed... I just think there is potentially a lot more your nephew can do to make better use of the carcasses... Like boiling the bones down to broth (and maybe dehydrating that into bullion), stripping the remaining flesh from them, then crushing them into bone meal fertilizer. Processed deer hide becomes buckskin leather, etc. The need for a "gut wagon" just indicates he has yet to fully explore making a potentially much more complete use of the animals.

Fun one to watch! I appreciated the part where Paul added the square tube support saying, "I don't want to die today." A well-known local heavy equipment operator died about ten years ago when the hydraulics on his dump truck failed while he was working under there. That was quite tragic.
After Paul's project was finished, I couldn't help but feel like there needed to be either fenders attached to the flatbed or some sort of protection built around the hydraulic pump and reservoir. It's looking awfully exposed under there!

Paul, if you had turned the scissor lift around the other way so that the middle hinge point was towards the cab, then you could have still used the hole in the bed to mount a gooseneck ball on a plate under the flap. Also, the other piece that you welded to the frame in the front looked to be a stand up safety lockout to brace the bed up when it is open for maintenance.

You had me worried there for a few minutes when I could see the initial geometry was way off! In order to directly bolt the top of the cylinder to the bed, the pivot point of the ram on the chassis would have had to be exactly in line with the pivot point of the bed to the chassis at the back. Your ram's pivot point was way forward, so you had to have that scissors link to allow the difference in length as the ram raised and lowered. Good job on figuring out a workaround that did a great job!

I installed a Pierce onto a 2015 F250 fro my father-in-law. The 'bolt-on' kit was not a bolt-on, by any means. Also, the Ford bed would flex badly (floor bulge) due to the POS aluminum construction of Ford. So we had to basically build a skeleton underneath the bed to support it. Otherwise, the pierce frame would've pushed right through the floor, first load it tried to lift.
The rear bumper was also iffy, from a safety standpoint, once the kit was installed.

You could still mount a Gooseneck ball/ 5th wheel hitch if you just weld on some flanges on the front of your bed so that you can pin the bed shut.. He would have to pull the pins to dump it; But normally you would just leave the pins out, and then only put them in when you needed to tow. At least that way it would secure your bed for towing when you needed it to. I think it could be done fairly easily.

You don't install a goose-neck hitch on a dump bed! it just does not work.

I had a 91 f450 dump truck that was that way with the pins in front of bed. Little annoying taking the pins in and out but it made the bed solid. I would tow a 12k backhoe with it and never had a single problem with it.

I converted my old yard truck to dump, I'm not sure if I can live without it that is one handy rig.

Truck jumping, just a casual remark, 1:42 ,“…jumped that old girl, a lot..” I would love to know the genesis of this “sport”, I can hear Paul, “Wouldn’t it be cool to jump this truck? Kinda like Dukes of Hazard? Just finding a suitable spot and then making the first attempt, I’m sure there was not much JSA going on. Amazed how well it jumped, apparently able to survive multiple flights. Perhaps the most amazing was the foresight to get it on video. This would be an excellent “back in the day” side video story with Paul and Co. filling in the details.
