I’m am definitely gonna try this I have a few Outre converti caps that are too light of a grey and just needs to be a darker grey vs the really bright grey. I am so thankful for this info. It is always hit or miss ordering these salt and pepper wigs. ❤
Faith I love how dedicated you are to giving gray hair options. I know you've reached out to these companies, and I think it would be a win win for them to listen to you and gray wigs to their collections. I liked the color on the shorter unit I think it was Adana. Nice job. I have no doubt, I know you will figure it out.
I like how the shorter one turned out. Very pretty. I tried to dye a wiglet the other day with that same Rit dye. It was a lighter brown wiglet, that I wanted very dark brown. It tried to follow the instructions. I was afraid to put it in the boiling water with the dye. So, I let it cool a little. I thought the synthetic might melt. When I rinsed it and let it dry, it looked the same light brown it was before. So, I thought I'd do what I saw someone else use. Acrylic paint and rubbing alcohol. It looks the color I wanted it. But, it's stiff. So much for experimenting on that wiglet.
Thank you so much for this insightful video. I just dyed my first gray wig tonight and it came out perfect! I ordered a 613 wig with one whole bottle of the grey Rit and walla! I'm so ready for it to dry now so I can rock it. More to come....watch out now 😂❤
Thanks for this Faith and thanks for the warning about the instructions. I have alopecia so I'm trying different things to get a look closer to my original hair with the wigs. You mentioned using Got2B gel and glue on the lace to protect it from the dye. Did you ever do a video on that? I"m curious: My hair was an ashy black color with white streaks before it fell out. if I wanted to try and get the look of white highlights on the graphite, would using the Got2B on single strands (to keep the original white of the wig) work you think? I have a couple of white wigs because when I bought them, there weren't really any gray ones. The companies are finally starting to make a wider selection of colors in grays now. Anyway, thanks for the video. I've been wanting to try this but I'm a scaredy-cat, LOL.
Hello Gorgeous lady! As always a great video and so very helpful. Both units turned out remarkably well. They look Absolutely Amazing on you. Thank you for sharing and showing. Blessings to you and your family. Be safe and stay well 💜
Ohmygoodness, thank you Faith! If I hadn't seen this video, I would've bought the regular Rit and boiled my wig! Amazing how you rescued that shorter one; I thought it was a goner for sure🤣 I wonder if my #2 Butta Lace 8 will come out gray? Also, what is the name of the unit you're wearing with your headband?
Its a converti cap Divine Jewelry. Yes and what I also discovered is its best to dye straight units since the curls dont bounce back so well after all that hot water. And dont forget to use the got2b gel and spray on the lace; let it dry before dyeing.
Wow! This is a gamechanger!!! Going to give it a try... question, what made the first wig turn out lighter grey? That color is gorgeous! Any tips on how to get that lighter shade of grey?! Thank you for sharing this with us! ❤❤❤
Thanks for the question! I used less dye on the first wig, then added more for the second. Also if your wig has lace add a thin layer of Got2B gel on it and then spray Got2B glue or Ebin on it and let it dry. That will protect it from the dye. Im going to show that in another video.
Your so beautiful I was looking for a vid to use Ritz dye It is a beautiful unit! I hv a curly unit and only want to tone down the color a bit like around the front bang area of it.. is the regular ritz good to use?
Now that I know what to do the next time, I am good! Tell me your wig dyeing fiascos below!
