The original DX7 sounds so beautiful. I very much prefer its sound to that of the DX7 II. Later DX machines had a much colder, more sterile sound to my ears. The original DX7 has a darker, more analog sounding tone. The DX7 is such an amazingly versatile machine. This video gives a good example of why it single-handedly killed the analog synth market nearly overnight in 1983/84.
Haha must be nice to have so many classic instruments that a JP8 is at home on the floor and a Fairlight dual functions as a desk! :) Great stuff as always! Your music and demos have been my favorite for a long time!
OK, so I saw your video on the Lexicon PCM 41 and this video. Do you have a preference between the PCM 41 and ADM 1024 or both. I own the ADM 1024 and ADM 256, but have always wanted to own a PCM 41 or PCM 42 and do you have a preference between the PCM 41 and PCM 42 and why? I know a lot of questions, but would love to hear your responses... Thanks!
I prefer the 41 - or even better, the 42 for the display. Nothing wrong with the ADM, though, it was used in studio - great rapport quality/price at the time.
I am 500 miles from my Effectron II and I miss it so much :) This is heart-warming.
Fantastic, Yamaha DX7 - the living legend Forever!!:-)

YAMAHA DX7 Rules! those effects really pack a punch too, this is wonderfully brilliant
It's amazing how FX really make the sounds.
Two great nostalgic pieces of audio music history. Thanks!
Thanks for listening
I love it! I'm such a huge fan of running the DX7 through effects. It really does the trick- I often track them wet.

a temporal decomission?
Always enjoying listening this classic synth! Persolally, I find the dry sounds already awesome and with FX, even more!
i love that delay.. in my main rack it's this for digital delay and the ad-202 for the analog.
great demo of classic FM with cool FX !
Not only are you an excellent player you got the vibe.
Love that bass, it's on a ton of 80s hits.
Short Echo is beautiful.
In this register of sound the Dx7 mk1 is musically fantastic almost 40 years ago
DX7 is the best revolutionary synt ever
i used zoom ms cdr 70 pedal effects for my dx7 mk1 : It's a very great little processor reverb+chorus+delays :) ciao
i envy you brother thats a lovely setup and some nice chords as well :)
them feels tho! so great!
Short echo sounds dope
genius thanks!
Nice! Really nice! :-D Thanks!
I’m always up to hear synths run through effects pedals/rack
very nice....
dx7 with fx day and night
3.55 sounds like Doctorin the house by Coldcutt and Yazz
It’s odd how most people seem to play the DX dry. I’m convinced it was never meant to be.
effectron II is the shit!
Thats sound at 10:48 is pretty nice ! What patch is that ?
Wondering that same thing
You are using the lfo right to give the shimmer.
Cool!
Where's the overdrive comino from?
:D

I guess the DX stole the show
What is that first DX7 patch?
what riff is the first song from ?
These are all improvs
How else could I get that double effect at 7:00? Pedals, etc.
try a slap back echo pedal?
Slow chorus with a high depth setting.
Just leave it dry :)
