I literally caught a cold on the day I was gonna record this video... So it ended up delaying production on this one for several days. Hopefully my extra-nasally voice isn't too distracting in this one, although maybe that is appropriate for a video about the Blue-Haired Lawyer

He actually _was_ the antagonist of a "Homer becomes a Lawyer" story in the comics. He spends most of the issue becoming increasingly frustrated as Homer uses grandstanding pop culture references and gimmicks to bamboozle his way to victory, until one of those antics results in Judge Snyder being set on fire while Homer is trying to defend Bart in an arson case. Homer ends up handing the case off to Lisa when his stunts are banned. Also, it gave us this exchange:
Homer: "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the blue-haired lawyer-"
    Blue-Haired Lawyer: "I _have_ a name."
    Homer: "Sure you do."
Paraphrasing because it's been over a decade since I read the issue, mind.

I'm not really into Married to the Blob or The Dad-Feelings Limited, but I did like his pretty prominent role in Murder, She Boat. Didn't like his relationship with Kumiko before, which I'm interesting in seeing Jims talk about, but that episode changed my mind and I'm now fine with it

They actually did retire her for a while.
After season 9's Lisa's Sax (which was a holdover from season 7), she didn't speak again until season 18's The Mook, the Chef and her Homer where she was renamed Lunchlady Dora, and is now voiced by Tress MacNeille. Previously she was voiced by Doris Grau, prior to her death.
I will say that Doris' prominence from season 18 onwards isn't really any different from 3-9, she never appeared that much. I wonder if her being renamed Dora is supposed to imply that Dora and Doris are seperate characters though

Allison's only really had one major role due to being voiced by a guest star (Lisa's Rival), so idk what there's to talk about since she's mostly a background. character afterwards.
She does have a single line in Lard of the Dance and Skinner's Sense of Snow, ig she appears quite a bit in the former episode, but unfortunately a bit it with her.

The bathroom, to a lot of people, is a very safe space because of the privacy. There's a lot of tropes of people running to bathrooms to get away from uncomfortable situations. It can be quiet in them as well, and there's a lot of people who feel they do their best thinking while on the toilet. That or maybe there's just something weird going on with him, it's hard to tell with The Simpsons sometimes.

The "Burns' Lawyer" name reminds me of how the writers refer to Snake as "Jailbird", despite everyone within the show calling the character "Snake". It used to be the same thing with the "Treehouse of Horror" specials. They used to be called "Simspons Halloween Special"s for years, then for some reason they started using the behind-the-scenes "Treehouse of Horror" title, despite the whole treehouse framing device no longer being present.

I don't really have a singular favourite moment with this guy, outside of his physical alteration with Skinner. Blue Haired Lawyer has always just been to me as potatoes are to Marge. I just think he's neat.

Blue Haired Lawyer had a Miles Edgeworth-like rivalry with Lionel Hutz, so much so that when Hutz died (the Phoenix Wright of the Simpsons universe), he took on the cases Hutz took. And much like when Edgeworth switched sides, he started winning more, but not always...

One small thing I noticed about the Lawyer is that he is one of the few Jewish characters on the show. In a Christmas themed opening (don't recall the season, but I assume mid-20s) he can be seen eating Chinese food in a kippa alongside Dolph (the bully). I assume this is a play on the stereotype that Jews make good lawyers

I appreciate that I can watch so many episodes in a row and never consciously realize this is a recurring character. Even if it's subconscious, the internal continuity makes the show feel cozy, there I said it. I also love the tidbit that the writers call him something different. I think Blue Haired Lawyer is better because he has his own identity, but in scenes where he isn't Burns' lawyer, it's kind of fun that his name in the script is still "Burns' lawyer." Like even when Mr. Burns isn't around, the reach of his corporate evil is still at work in Springfield....

I was very excited to see this video and it didn’t disappoint! This guy is certainly one of my favorite antagonists on the Simpsons. He makes all the court case scenes quite memorable. Truly I really enjoyed the dynamic between him and Lionel Hutz and I feel that it’s a shame that we’ll never get to see that again because of Phil Hartman’s passing but blue haired lawyer lives on and that makes me happy. I like to imagine that if Lionel Hutz is truly gone in Springfield then Blue haired Lawyer as his former nemesis occasionally leaves flowers by his grave. I’m still very eager to see a Jasper video really soon! Also I truly love the stories with blue haired lawyer and Bart Simpson. They make a fun foil for each other which I shouldn’t be surprised by since he’s also voiced by the same person who does Homer as Bart’s dad. Also to put in another suggestion for character histories are we still going to get a Sanjay video? I know that he was first introduced as a side character to support Apu and Apu’s still in a tricky position right now but I feel that Sanjay still deserves his moment to shine! Besides I strongly remember seeing him on one of your suggestions list recently! Please give Sanjay a chance if for no other reason than to give the remaining Apu and Sanjay fans one more special treat amiss the chaos caused by the controversy.

Just a blind shot in the dark but maybe the toilet is an 'alcoholic lawyer' style joke? When you drink hard to run away from your problems to the point where you vomit on the regular there is something comforting about the toilet. When you're puking up alcohol into a toilet that is the only problem you're currently presented with instead of whatever you're drinking to escape. The toilet isn't an enemy in that moment, either, it is supportive and helpful. Maybe Blue-Haired Lawyer has spent many a night after losing to Lionel Hutz embracing the porcelain throne.

I Think the Blue-Haired Lawyer is a Brilliant Character in Representing and Satirising the Perspective of a Contemporary Cynic who Thinks that THOSE Lawyers are Corporate Bootlickers of Capitalist Overlords and [they] are Opportunists who are Smug and Sly waiting to be the Vulture and Loophole-Exploiter, While also Bailing when things don't go their way and Bailing when things go Wrong While [the Lawyer] also being the one to be Involved in the Situation, that's why I Think this is a Contemporary Cynic's Perspective.
And I Actually find it Fascinating to Dissect from this Video.

Maybe an odd favourite moment but I love the moment in that 3 part story episode where he’s like representing Disney but is there for a manicure and it’s revealed he’s got these huge talons. It makes me laugh every time and I don’t know why both my parents were lawyers(though in this country they were called solicitors….which I know in America means….well something very different). I think it’s that blue haired lawyer reminds me of how my mother and father acted in their professional lives vs how I knew them 90% of the time(since I’d sometimes be in the room for their work as a witness for wills, man I hated doing that since it was always a with people who looked very close to the end of their days which was sad, seeing as I’d hear their last messages to their loved ones too….and no I didn’t get paid, I was just brought in as a witness so I’m glad I never have to do that again) and the claws thing just made me remember how most people see the work of lawyers despite how much I know my mother and father were and are both caring people(even if my father and I are no longer on good terms with one another).
