First of all, great tutorial! Now I would love to know how iParts function with Vault. How do you update the derivative files created, do you have to check them all out before you update the master? How does that work?
I'd love to get help understanding that!

great job! it is pretty straightforward and useful. The only comment I have is that the music volume was a little too high and in some parts it would make it a little harder to understand what you were saying.

Great tutorial. I agree with the compliments from the others. I'm looking for a way in an assembly with 2 instances of a part to have one instance one configuration and the other one a different configuration. I think it has something to do with standard versus custom but can't seem to get this to work. Thanks.

Loved the iParts video. Learned a lot. I created a 1 5/8" wide Unistrut iPart with 11 variations as an experiment. Worked great. I made the Length a custom parameter so I could change that as I place it in an assembly. However, what I would really like is for this iPart to be a starting point for creating a separate part file that I can then edit, i.e. put end treatments and holes in etc. Is there a way to save a placed iPart as standard .ipt? Or, is there another way of generating a file similar to the Content Center structural shapes?

Great Video Mate thanks for that ! I'm struggling with something on my level 2 course though ! I have to create a plug socket with one plug hole then make it an ipart which changes to a 2 then 4 plug socket. I can do this easy enough but then theres 2 things that don't seem right......once I've finished them I physically have to click on my plug socket TOP part then click on which instance I want to see e.g SocketNum 2 then click on return to the full assembly and my tutor tells me I shouldn't need to do this ? secondly I have to press the update button in order for the BASE of this plug socket which is its own part to update accordingly, I kind of understand the whole ipart thing but I think I've got a bit of a sketchy way of doing it ATM. Could you do a video for creating an ipart that also has another part attached to it that will automatically update please ?

    Hi TFI,
Really great tutorial on iParts. Got me up and running with a simple assembly made up of a couple of sub-assemblies. Settling upon configuration that best suits my needs I have gone on to pull together a suite of drawings featuring a bill of materials parts list. It would be helpful if I could send you a couple of screenshots. I have enabled structure and parts only in the sub-assemblies, however, when I try to do the same in the top-level assembly parts only does not present itself. I'm not sure if this is causing my problem when I get to including the parts list in my drawing. In my drawing no matter what I do I cannot get my parts list to show all the parts in the top-level parts list. Have you any tips to help you show all the parts in the top-level list?
    Kindest regards,
    Derek.
