Thanks NicknLex great call on picking up the location as Prague. They did several videos from this album in Prague, New Sensation in particular is a good video. As rock videos go INXS has some of the better ones. They are especially good live. In this video you can see the band members meandering through the streets and casually drifting by the camera. The song is absolutely way to short. My favorite part is at the end with the call and answer with the background vocals. Thanks for the great reaction. RIP Michael Hutchene.
This band brings back memories... after hearing them on the radio back in the early 80s with "Don't Change" (which you guys should react to!) I went to the local record store and had no idea where to look because it wasn't clear how a band that sounded like "In Excess" on the radio actually spelled their name! Singer Michael Hutchence was a gift we lost too soon, nice reaction guys, definitely check out more INXS!
What a band! One of the most charismatic lead vocalists, in Michael Hutchence, that gorgeous sax by Kirk Pingelly, the Farris Brothers, Andrew on Piano, Tim on lead guitar, Jon on drums, and Gary Gary Beers on bass. They were my childhood. My first album of their (not sure if it was mine or my sisters) was Listen Like Thieves. I’ve been a fan ever since. Michael passed away in 1997 RIP 🕊️ Jon Stevens of Noiseworks fame then sang in his place. PS Live always as a rule for Australian bands. INXS started in 1977 and released their first album in 1980. Another favourite Australian band, Cold Chisel, started in 1973, but their first Album was released in 1978. What a great era. Micheal and Jimmy Barnes (lead singer of Chisel) sang Good Times together and the song was on the soundtrack of The Lost Boys. I wonder if you’ve seen that movie. Actually Jimmy sings in it twice, but if you don’t know him, you’d probably not even know as they are just snippets.
Fantastic song, one of the best ballads ever written. And a partial fact check, Michael never put his hat in the ring for the Doors film nor was he ever asked. Apparently Oliver Stone briefly considered him as an option 😂 Edit: oh i love the La's There She Goes!!😊
Watch their Concert at Wembley in 1991 and you'll see why he was up for playing Morrison. That concert was an A+ film, they used 16 cameras. That whole show was excellent!!!
The video was filmed in Prague by great Australian director Richard Lowenstein (Dogs in Space, He Died With a Felafel in his Hand) The moodiness of the city, the river, and the Charles Bridge is magical and conveys the feeling of a timeless Viennese waltz. The saxophone in the Old Jewish Graveyard is haunting. When asked to make the music video, Lowenstein was the one who said "we have to film this in Prague." Perfect choice.
Thanks Scott, it's always great to hear INXS on the channel. Brilliant band, very underrated with one of the best frontmen in rock, Michael Hutchence. So good in concert too. Alexia, 'There She Goes' was actually recorded by The La's, a British Indie band who only made one album (self titled), released in 1990. Their story is one of the strangest in British rock, a brilliant band who only made one album due to the perfectionist nature of Lee Mavers, their songwriter and creative leader. This was despite them being championed by just about all the top UK musicians of that time. It's an album well worth listening to.
Please explore more INXS, incredible music, Michael's singing was magical and just great, " Devil inside" " Need you tonight", Don't change a thing", "Mystify" " the one thing" etc...
As others have pointed out, this was shot in Prague (not your common setting for a rock band in the 80s!). The inner city of Prague is incredibly beautiful.
Always loved this dramatic song by INXS and the video is very cool. Thanks Scott for suggesting it and thank you Nick and Lex for this reaction. The comparison to Jim Morrison has been brought up before so you are not alone Nick. I had the same illness Lex after my mother passed. It is exhausting. Glad you got through it and had some MTV to keep you company.😊💞
Omg... that was the cutest discussion about what strange and thankfully now rare diseases we've had... I'm so glad you didn't get mono or limes disease...
INXS is one of those bands that surprises with just how many great tracks were theirs, as in "Oh, that was INXS?!?"" The loss of Michael Hutchence never gets any less tragic...And Alexia, the sickeat I ever felt were the months I had hepatitis...Can't believe you suffered with it for that long and that young!
A couple of brilliant live videos by INXS with Jimmy Barnes......Jimmy's presence and big voice seems to give Michael a bigger and more rock style voice. He's Gonna Step on You Again . Good Times Also Knockin' On Heavens Door.
Such a fantastic song, enhanced by a terrific video. Michael had such a sad end, so tragic to find oneself at such a point if darkness. I'm glad you watched the official video, especially an 80s song....its part of of the experience itself & a must. One critique I have on this song...its too short. Think I'll check out your content, especially if you have classic/80s rock.
My first memory of INXS was Don't Change off of Shabooh Shoobah. Michael Hutchence seemed to channel some Mick Jagger as well as Jim Morrison in that video, at least to my eye. To Look At You from that album was one of my favorites. If you do another of their videos, you should check out Need You Tonight/Mediate... see if you can guess the inspiration for the Mediate portion of the video 😀 I think "There She Goes" that Lex was talking about was by The La's 🙂 If you collab with @JustJP maybe he can introduce you to Be Bop Deluxe and Bill Nelson 😀 #nicknlexrequest Be Bop Deluxe - Axe Victim
I was thinking London, too. Reminds of London.❤ Val looked just like Jim Morrison. I was freaky how much he did. I want to watch that movie again. This song is way too short❤I could listen to it all day. 😂
Michael Hutchense... por Dios que desperdicio haberlo perdido tan temprano... Gran voz! No me quiero imaginar lo que sería por estos días 🙌✨️Tremenda banda Inxs!!
They were one of the biggest live rock bands in the world in the late 80's early 90's and when Michael was killed by the cabal at the Ritz Carlton in Sydney (same method used to kill Robin Williams in Hollywood), he was only 36 and it was shortly after Princess Di's death in 1997. I was in Prague a year or two after this song came out, still during Communist times. It was more exotic than it is now (just there two weeks ago). Greetings from Munich.
Great reaction to a very iconic song. Mozart wasn't from Prague but Salzburg, Austria. There are many great composers from Prague, Dvorak, being the most famous. It is an amazing city though with a lot to see, many places shown in the video like the Charles Bridge, the famous clock and the main square, you should definitely plan to go there next time you are in Europe.
This is Prague; I was lucky enough to have visited there for the first time in 1988 on my Junior Year abroad. It was still before the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union fell so the soldiers in the video are Soviets (hence, "two worlds colliding"). By the way, Mozart is from Austria (mostly Vienna and Salzburg)...
Wow how awesome, thanks for sharing! We are well aware where Mozart is from, as Nick is from Munich and had family in Salzburg. Just said that the movie Amadeus was filmed in Prague. ;) Thanks for watching and hope to see you around!!
I love it live also, but there are some songs that have amazing videos. REM’s “Losing my religion” and “Everybody hurts” are examples of excellent music videos.
Fun facts: Rene decartes came up with the scientific method after he had a dream during the siege of Prague. You know, like you do... lay siege or go to a siege, for fun... Anyway, allegedly in his dream an angel appeared and said "man will conquer thru the understanding of proportions." Silly, right? My question: was the angel hot? My own answer? You better believe it.
Gracias chicos muy buena reaccion , hermosa cancion , podrian reaccionar a Creedence Clearwater Revival la cancion I put a spell on you , gracias saludos desde Bs As Argentina
Prague is also known as the most haunted city in Europe. Kind of strange why it was cast with this distinction ..you know, if you believe in that sort of thing. It certainly looks beautiful. The boys certainly had quite a time there. The typical Australian love of beer and passing out in the hallway and apparently also in the street.
Great reaction, great song, great talent unfortunately Michael Hutchence committed suicide at age 37 in 1997. Hutchence's body was discovered by a hotel maid at 11:50 am on November 22nd in Sydney, AUS. Police reported that Hutchence was found "in a kneeling position facing the door. He had used his snakeskin belt to tie a knot on the automatic door closure at the top of the door, and had strained his head forward into the loop so hard that the buckle had broken.
Please don't pause here, please don't pause here, please don't pause here........;.damn. Horrible choice, and especially for not running it back first, totally ruined the impact of the sax coming in.
He was into strangling and went too far. Although their song called "The Swing" is one of their best. (Although sad) It tells the story of the obsession that ultimately cost him his life.
lady is talking about her traumatic ilness when she was young, dude cuts her off and talks about himself and finishes the conversation, rudest thing i have seen for a while.

Great choice Scott!
Michael Hutchence. One of the best lead singers ever. Great voice, wonderful songs, emotion, stage presence
This was filmed in Prague . Love INXS! Watch them Live At Wembly. They are very good live. New Sensation was also filmed in Prague.
R.I.P. Michael Hutchence, Lead singer, incredible lead singer and performer, very tragic story
This band brings back memories... after hearing them on the radio back in the early 80s with "Don't Change" (which you guys should react to!) Michael Hutchence had some serious magic.

That song was really really nice I like songs with orchestras
Just a beautiful and melancholic song. Yeah and Prag looks great. When the sax started playing you should have known - it must be the 80s. ;)

More trivia: Billy Idol was also in consideration for the role of Jim Morrison but was involved in a bad motorcycle accident and removed.
