I find most of their songs so boring and repetitive to play. The only reason people like them are they are seduced by his so-called sex-appeal. So over-rated in my opinion.
Hi. I am Australian and knew Michael back in the day. I remember when he came to my 18th birthday party along with Andrew. I played guitar so we had a common interest and a few days later were jamming over in their garage. All this before they were Inxs. Michael is missed. Thanks for reacting to this song. INXS is something else. Australians are practically born knowing all the words. We don't care where we are, the second it comes on we will belt it out. Any song. Pure perfection. Michael was ahead of his time.
I’m from Arkansas, but must’ve been Australian in a past life then! 😆 STILL one of my favorite bands. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see them live before Michael died, but did see them on tour w/JD Fortune, after he won Rock Star: INXS to become the new lead singer. It was actually a really great show, even without Michael, tbh. Everyone (myself included) was on their feet throughout the show, dancing and singing along the whole time. It was so much fun! They’re such a tight act, they play off each other so well, they truly are an incredible live act.
I'd prefer Devil inside, but.... Oh, and if you want to hear their earlier sound, from before they got insanely popular: "The One Thing." I always liked that song, even though it's from earlier in their career.
The one thing that never ceases to surprise me is that the number of vocal analysts that are 'reacting to' 80's music for the first time. And that they have never heard of these bands. But then i realize that this music is more than 40 years old, and the reactors are much younger than 40. There are so many musicians that are noteworthy from the 80's.
Being Gen X, I automatically assumed that INXS was one of those unforgettable bands that everyone would always immediately recognize. But hindsight kicked in. They fell off the map after Hutchence died. 😢
@@angieschaffer8233 Michael and the rest of INXS was only well known in Australia , SE Asia and UK. Shabooh Shoobah was released internationally on Atlantic/Atco Records, peaking at No. 52 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 46 on the Hot Pop Albums chart and the band only sold according to Wiki 15 mill units in US just as an example. Like most of the great Aussie acts, there success in USA was poor
Yeah, the music might be 40 years old, but I also doubt that they REALLY have never heard these songs before. Even without trying you can accidentally hear a lot of 80s and 90s music. Movie soundtracks, the radio playing in a public place, etc.
Michael Hutchence was such an amazing front man. Vocal range, charisma and an amazing performer. Sorely missed. INXS was so huge in the 80's. I absolutely love them.
The soundtrack of my youth. High school in particular. Hutch is sorely missed. What a voice! I never understood why this longer version of the song wasn't included in the album. The longer intro is a thing of beauty. This version was only available in the Kick Flick VHS. This entire album is a masterpiece. INXS made some amazing music. Aussie legends. RIP Hutch. 😢😢😢
@The Charismatic Voice - The entire video was filmed in my neighborhood in Prague…Mala Strana and Old Town/Josefov…before the Soviet Union collapsed/end of the Cold War.
I visited Prague with my wife in 2019 and because we are such big INXS fans we visited the Old Jewish Cemetery where the sax solo was filmed. Also Charles Bridge and the World Clock, such a beautiful city.
Filmed in 1987 in a country that no longer exists. Two years before the “Velvet Revolution” and six years before Czechoslovakia split into two countries. Prague became the capital of the Czech Republic and Slovakia became a separate country.
@@SaturnusDK Actually the official long form name at the United Nations is still “Česká Republika” in the Czech language (“Czech Republic” in English). “Česko” (“Czechia” in English) was adopted in 2016 as the official “short form” of the name. This is similar to how “France” is the recognized English short name for the official formal name “République Française” (“French Republic” in English) So we are both correct. I just used the official more formal name. But since my TH-cam message is not an official government document, your use of Czechia is more appropriate. Thanks for the correction.
Before Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia, it was Austria Hungary. Before that, it was Austria. Before that, it was Bohemia, and that's when my great great grandfather left Plzen, Bohemia for the United States. I love being able to say I am part Bohemian.
@@kevinL5425 - Correct…I live in Prague…and most here, including Expats dislike the anglicized form. “Czechia” is considered too similar sounding to “Chechnya”.
My wife and I came from very different backgrounds and when we met we became friends almost immediately. I was 19 and she was 24. We grew to admire each other’s perspectives and fell in love. (I was a metalhead and she loves opera, but we are broadening our horizons and embracing all great music) We have been married for 24 years now. She chose this song as our wedding song. Every time I hear it, the line “I love your precious heart” strikes me. That’s what we found the most beautiful about each other. Funny, at the time, I thought it was a strange song to choose but I realize she made a brilliant choice every time we listen to it. Not many songs like it being written anymore. Keep up the great work!
I had front row tickets to INXS in Vancouver in 1991 - Michael came right down to the fence and I got to sing the chorus of "What you need" along with Michael holding the mic. My greatest concert memory.
Michael Hutchence was totally the Jim Morrison of the 80's. Everything about him, vocal range, looks, stage moves, sex appeal. Edit: This is the most engagement I've ever received so; 5150 Live Without a Net - Van Halen ;)
not everything, their deaths were vastly different. if you recall Mr. Hutchence was found with his belt around a doorknob the other end of the belt was around his neck and he was holding on to his ding a ling. tragic masturbation mishap.
The band I sung with did a support with INXS on the last leg of their Shabooh Shoobah tour of Oz in 1982, before they headed to the US for the first time. There was something about Hutch ‐ a presence, a charisma. He seemed almost shy and introverted offstage. He asked to borrow my tambourine. It was new and cost me a mint at the time. When they took the stage, he became the consummate extrovert front man. Threw my tambourine around the stage and chipped the hell out of it! I still have it to this day, and it survived many gigs since. RIP Hutch.😢
Thanks for the story! Many of us have them but never get a chance to tall them, unless the subject creates the opportunity! I served Leon Russell several of his meals and a short order restaurant in Tulsa, Ok back in the early 70’s, as he would always sit and the end of the counter, or wait till it was available. His driver always stayed in his Rolls out in the parking lot! He was very quiet and didn’t talk other than giving his order to me and I’d ask how he was doing. He was very polite and had that great beard and was the pride of Tulsa other than JJ Cale, though he left for LA back in the early 60’s.
You need to see (and hear) INXS live at Wembley stadium in 1991 on their 'Live Baby Live' tour. One of the all time greatest live vocal performances by Michael. It's breathtaking! He's all over the huge stage and commands it so well without letting his incredible vocals falter at all.
As an Aussie born in the 70s, watching you experience this track for the first time was such a treat! I had goosebumps all the way through this video hahaha
I'm a Kiwi and I grew up knowing all the lyrics to the INXS songs too. They were huge here in NZ.I always get goosebumps with this song. It's my favourite INXS song among many awesome songs. I'm still sad that he had such a premature ending to his life. Tragic. 😢
The drum fill leading into the sax solo is one of my favorite drum fills ever. It’s not flashy or complicated (though it is performed with a crap-ton of clean consistency), but it is the *right* fill played at the right time. Perfection.
@ReleaseTheQuackers as smokin' hot as Michael was, Jon had me in the Don't Change video: his jaunty hat set at a rakish angle, his hot pink socks and everything between, especially roguishly tossing the drum sticks over his shoulder at the end. He was adorable. The video is pretty terrible with respect to choreography, editing and Michael strutting a little too much like Mick Jagger. None of the instruments or mike's are corded either, but I love it and this song so much. th-cam.com/video/sLm3Khusq_8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Q31SUi7mR-_t7ukx
Michael Hutchence was the total package for a rock star. He had the voice, the looks, the stage presence, and just an overwhelming magnetic charisma. Any room was instantly his just by walking in. He was the IT guy of the 80s. As for suggestions, just listen to the entire Kick album.
Such a shame he messed up his private life that badly. Just imagine what more he could have brought us. Or did he realise that Kick was his Opus Magnum and that he would never be able to surpass it? Combined with a messy divorce and probable brain damage that might have been enough to push him over the edge.
@@tjroelsma It's almost impossible to maintain that kind of peak for more than a handful of years. People crave new things, and there were some pretty seismic changes that came about in the early 90s.
@@Sitania Yes, he suffered a skull fracture that lost him both his senses of smell and taste if I'm not mistaken. Like I said: it might well have been a sum of things that finally sent him over the edge. But I feel that Kick was such an exceptional album: it produced a number of hits and pretty much everyone agrees that it was peak INXS/Hutchence, that it would have been hard to come up with a worthy successor.
Elizabeth you picked a great first reaction for them. You will definitely go down the INXS rabbit hole now, which you should, since they have tons of great songs.
I grew up in NZ, was a teenager/young adult in the 80s. I was very fortunate to meet them in Melbourne when they were filming Dogs in Space. Michael came across as very shy, and the whole band were very gratious and generous with their time for a starstruck mega fan 😃 I highly recommend watching the documentary film of his life "Mystify" it is fascinating, insightful, beautiful and very moving. I love this band, so many awesome songs and they evoke many memories for me.
This was our wedding song in 1989…it means so much to us…I’m glad you enjoyed it. Michael Hutchense was a treasure… he left us too soon. So glad you enjoyed this song!
The night the taxi driver king hit him was what took his life. Lost so much of his senses and feel into depression from that. Then the problems with bob amplified it all.
As an Aussie, I grew up during my formative years seeing INXS live in Melbourne pubs. I've seen them many times in concert over the years and this was the band I played most when I got my license. I'm still grieving over Michael Hutchence taking his own life in in 1997. RIP. Edit: INXS are nothing like Depeche Mode.
Different music agree, but all bands of that era share a similarity because of the syths which aren't used like they were in the 80's and 90's anymore.
An absolute treasure to watch you react and analyse this classic. As an Auatralian I have to remember that not everyone has this song just genetically embeded into their soul 😆 It used to crop up in everything, across generations, lol.
Me too. I'm always sad when an artist I love dies, but losing Michael hurt way more and I'm not sure why. I loved him from the first time I saw the band on MTV performing "The One Thing". All of their albums are brilliant and this song in particular hits me in the heart. I think my favorite album though is Shabooh Shoobah.
Musically, this is such an atypical INXS song. They evolved from sounding very new wave to sounding very sort of funk rock with new wave roots. I think Hutchence is probably the greatest rock front man of the 80s and 90s. Charisma, sex appeal, and an actually good singer on top of it.
@@TheCharismaticVoiceabsolutely! They have many great songs like "New Sensation" Which I guarantee you'd heard at least once in your life, in a movie or nearly anywhere Also the easiest way to pronounce the band name is to remember the 2 words "In Excess"
@@TheCharismaticVoice New Sensation is the song that you’re looking for to get a true sense of Michael’s voice. The “directness” you mentioned is on full display, and the song shows him in full attack mode. And he hits some deceptively high notes throughout. Please politely ignore anyone recommending Devil Inside (sorry folks) because he stays in his breathy lower register the entire song.
It's interesting you mention the Beach Boys when talking about the backing vocals here, because INXS also included 3 brothers in their band - Andrew (keys), Jon (drums) and Tim (guitar) Farriss. There is just something so special about family members singing together. Try 'The Devil Inside' by INXS too, great vocal by MH.
Connecting The Charismatic Voice with Jimmy Barnes is such a good idea. That through line goes straight to Jimmy Barnes with Joe Bonamassa playing “Stone Cold”.
Michael, had the presence of Jim Morrison, moves of Mick Jagger, and performance of David Bowie.......a complete package rolled into one fantastic human being! ❤
As I reacted to the Cult on this channel....Jim Morrison, Ian Astbury en Michael Hutchence..... Connection Ian and Jim is known as Ian did a tour with the Doors. More unknown is that Ian and Michael were friends... Great voices
THANK YOU!!!! I do wish you had done the raw live version where you would have heard him adlib and wail with raw untethered emotion. Genius, but live, SUPER GENIUS!!
The band name is pronounced "In Excess". Such a huge band at the time. This is definitely on the slower side of their discography, but one of their best songs. Also, such an iconic voice and a great sassy/blues kind of feel to this song. Such a loss to music right at the peak of his powers. RIP Michael Hutchence.
The host of this show is great but theres no need to be unsure of any pronunciation these days if you have a computer or smartphone. You just search google for (for example) "Depeche Mode pronunciation" Google provides an audio tool that will audibly pronounce the word for you. You can do it for any word you cant pronounce. It takes about 10 seconds. Anyway yes INXS was a damn good band. If she reads this try "Original Sin" or ""New Sensation"
Well, when your sexual fetish is auto-asphyxiation, and you do it alone, there is almost an inevitability to how he died, and we are most sexually active and vigorous when young. Putting a stragulation device around your neck until you lose consciousness, or putting a plastic bag over your head are extremely risky, and these are the sort of things these guys do. Nothing to do with the good die young. In this case you could easily say the bad and risky die young.
This song is about his first girlfriend Michelle. She was the love of his life, but she let him go when INXS became successful. They rose to fame fairly quickly once they entered the US market. They were constantly on tour. There is alot of heartbreak in this song. Michelle is the person Michael called the night of his death. She came to the hotel and he didn't answer the door.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time, and I still get shivers when I hear Michael's voice at "I'd make wine from your tears" and again at "some of us don't know why". He just hits something inside me every time.
This channel is the Bagpipes of TH-cam Vocal Analysis! What a great segment about the video at 15:30 ... Thank you for everything you do and keep up the good work!
Elizabeth - fav INXS song is Don't Change. It was playing on MTV the night of my prom in 1983. When I hear it, I'm transported back to that night with the most beautiful girl, who would (much) later be my wife.
So glad you're getting to INXS, Elizabeth. Here's a few of the hits: New Sensation, Need You Tonight, and The Devil Inside. I'm sure there will be some other suggestions as well. I think Need You Tonight will probably give you the fullest sense of Michael's voice.
New Sensation! A friend played me Kick the week it came out. When it started, I was unimpressed with Guns in the Sky. Then New Sensation started and I was 100% sold on the album.
This is not the original album version. But as stated below.....anything and everything from the KICK album is just incredible. My opinion, one of the greatest albums of all time.
😊Listening to someone over analyze one of the GREATEST song of the 80s is a disservice to everything great about this song. We didn't love songs at first, they grew on us. Last time I play one of these posts.
Seeing that you have not heard a lot of these amazing songs that you analyze makes me think that you have been heavily sheltered whilst being highly educated in the music realm, specifically opera, since you were a child. I adore watching you analyze so incredibly beautiful ly The music that we all love and Your skill At both the art and communication and analysis of the art form commands a high respect. It. 's no wonder you have so many followers and it's wonderful to see that you do. You definitely deserve it and it is so fun to watch you analyze these songs!
Try the cover of Good Times that INXS did with Jimmy Barnes. Not only will you hear the full power of Hutchence, but also be introduced to one of Australia's greatest ‘belters'.
I'm happy you're covering this song. This was my Ex-partner's favourite song. She died a few years ago, so this song holds close to me. I miss her friendship more than anything. ❤
The Port Adelaide football club play this song as part of their pre game entertainment. They play it literally before the start of the game and the crowd stand up and sing along. Sometimes the crowd sing so loud they turn the volume of the song down and you just hear the crowd singing. It’s a great experience to be apart of.
Why do I find myself coming back to your content every 3 months or so? Probably your genuine enthusiasm for all music genres. It makes me smile. I do find myself feeling guilty, tho, that I and so many of your viewers are so trapped in our own musical loves and nostalgia. Perhaps we need Phil Collins or Steve Perry taking us on your journey through opera? It’s something with such rich history, and yet so challenging for so many. Philadelphia, anyone?
My wife and I had a vampire themed wedding on Halloween night 2009. This was the song for our first dance. We now have a canvas with the lyrics in our bedroom. Love INXS!
It truly moves me to see your surprise and smile as you discover groups and songs that I grew up with. You are so very open minded and a true lover of music no mater the genre. Keep it up!
While I prefer earlier INXS (Don't Change, The One Thing, Original Sin), this era really shows how incredible Hutchence's voice was. Truly one of the great talents of his generation.
Kick is where my love for INXS took a nosedive. It's jam-packed with gimmicks. Earlier albums are far superior. Never Tear Us Apart is the only song I actually like from Kick.
Im absolutely shocked that was your first experience of INXS . I just watched your John Farhnam vlogs and you react to this music exactly the way I do now ... I feel like living through that era of music and especially Australian music was a place and time that can never be repeated and i feel so privileged to be alive during this time. And by the way your amazing
'Kick' was my very first tape cassette album that I bought. I had never heard of INXS till I heard 'New Sensation' on the radio. It blew me away! Just an incredible album and an amazing band. RIP Michael... So sorely missed.
Haven’t listened to this in decades. Hearing it through new ears brings me to tears for Hutchence and my own memories, including slow dances at proms. “We all have wings, but some of us don’t know why.” Masterful!
Another great Aussie band. I appreciate Elizabeth's obvious joy in to listening to music, which is infectious, its worth watching in itself. She is obviously very skilled in technical voice analysis.
Back in the day, I had all these records on vinyl, and I always really liked Michael's deeper vocals. They sounded so intimate listening on headphones.
Just found your channel a few days ago and I have binged many of your videos. I love this channel. I lived the INXS era, even their show twenty years ago on finding the next rock star, a replacement for Michael Hutchense. You've got to see their early stuff, like "Don't Change" or "The One Thing". Keep doing what you do.
this was def a slow dance song at school. I was obsessed with INXS in the 80s. If you want to see him live, watch anything from the wembley stadium concert. It will also show you the sheer enormity of their fame at the time.
We definitely need more INXS analysis videos. Michael was an amazing talent and performer. His passing, like many others, was far too soon and tragic. INXS has made music since his passing, but nothing compares to music with him as their front man.
I'm from Melbourne Australia and I was lucky to have grown up listening to such a talented band. iNXS were one of the few bands that produced an album of A sides, every song on every album was worthy of being a single. I saw many bands in those days and when asked which concert I enjoyed most the answer is always INXS Melbourne kick tour.
Hey Elizabeth, I believe it's time you got acquainted with Spandau Ballet. I'd recommend the tracks "True", "Gold", "Only When You Leave" and my personal favorite "Through the Barricades". Spandau Ballet was a true product of the eighties and visually quite a stylish bunch!
This is my new favorite channel, I went DEEP down the rabbit hole this last weekend. I noticed you hadn’t done this song and I was thinking it was only a matter of time. THANK GOODNESS you did this one. I graduated in ‘91 and only causally listened to INXS while in school and then really started listening to them right after school with the “X” album and I was HOOKED. “The Stairs” gives me chills EVERYTIME! Michael was an insanely great front man. Recently watched a documentary on him and something about it just gripped me and wouldn’t let go. Such a beautiful soul, gone WAY TOO SOON. 😢❤
@@philhamilton8731 While most people will say "Need You Tonight", "New Sensation", or "Mystify", was their big break, it was "Don't Change" that really got them internationally famous. There's a reason they ended their band career with this song.
"Need You Tonight" is my favorite INXS (in-x-s) song by a country mile. A little more upbeat than "Never Tear Us Apart" (I usually favor ballads), but an amazingly charismatic vocal performance!
Check out “Don’t Change.” That’s the big finale, encore type song. It was the last song of the night at our wedding as well - it’s that kind of song, too. When it’s over you just want to turn up the lights and send everyone home.
Excellent example of instrumental intro to the actual song. Listen to the lyrics from beginning to end. It will help to release from that love you had years ago and can never get it back.
The lead singer fell madly in love with Bob Geldof’s wife. She had 3 kids with Geldof. Left Geldof for Hutchence.. star crossed lovers. They had a child. Their fate was sealed and they passed through this world. Geldof stepped up and adopted their daughter for her to be with her half siblings. It’s such a crazy story. It truly breaks my heart. More so now that I have a daughter.
I think she should visit some of the other Inxs songs in their catalogue, maybe scuicide blonde, or original sin? They have so many hits, and had sound that was very much their own
My favorite band when I was in high school, these boys were. So excited to see you analyzing them. I especially loved "The Devil Inside." That guitar line just sticks in my head and won't let go, and I like it.
Finally! I can't wait to see your reaction! Micheal had the most amazing voice. I got to see them live on the first show of their US tour for the Kick album. It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
First of all, I can not b 0:53 elieve that you have never heard this iconic classic rock band. Australian rock band INXS was an excellent band, and their lead singer, the late great Michael Hutchence, was a phenomenal singer. His death was a tragedy. To see them in concert was an awesome experience. He hung himself due to depression over constant headaches that he had as a result of a cracked skull that he received from a taxi driver who threw him out of his way for being on a bike in front of his cab, and he landed on a sidewalk hitting the top of his head, cracking his skull, causing him excruciating headaches for the remainder of his life. My favorite songs by INXS are Don't Change and a song that they did for the movie Soundtrack Lost Boys called Good Times. There's two other songs that are my favorites as well, Shine Like it Does and the song Beautiful Girl.
@thomasallen5303 I also know that he had an argument on the phone earlier that day with Bob Geldof and Paula Yates, the mother of his daughter Tiger, that she and Bob were raising. He and Paula first spoke, and she told him that he couldn't see their daughter as originally planned. This made Michael upset, and he then called Bob Geldof, and the two of them had a heated argument. Later, upset, Michael took his life.
>First of all, I can not believe that you have never heard this iconic classic rock band. This is the bit I can't accept with these 'react' videos as a genre. How do you claim to be a music expert, and have simultaneously never heard the most famous songs of the biggest acts in history? This is a five-times platinum track that charted number 7 in the US. Next up, watch her react to an English band 'The Bee-yat-tlles' - "am I saying that right?"
He also lost his sense of taste and smell after the nightclub accident, which reportedly contributed to his mood swings. Don't Change is a belter of a song. Turn it up loud whenever I hear it.
@@zebidee55 Thats true man, she repeats the same in many videos. She hasn't ever heard about Skid Row and Sebastian Bach either.. But not knowing INXS is unforgivable , they were huge in the late 80s/90s and Michael was an icon . This vocal coach must must be a millennial
i remember going to the Coogee Bay Hotel to see them on their 'Back to Basics' tour. Tiny crowd, absolutely packed and just the pure ease of quality was amazing. I will never forget it...
I remember seeing them there, but i was so drug farked, i cant remember what year it was, late 70s early 80s? Seen many aussie bands over that way, not sure about which ones tho, as it was a wild ride for many a year. O.o

Yeah, the music might be 40 years old, but I also doubt that they REALLY have never heard these songs before. Even without trying you can accidentally hear a lot of 80s and 90s music. Movie soundtracks, the radio playing in a public place, etc.
That line “I told you that we could fly, cause we all have wings, but some of us don’t know why” always stood out to me. Very poetic beautiful lyric.
Such a passionate line, I always loved his delivery. Makes this song plus Kirk's Sax solo.
And then as an adult I learnt that the lyrics are actually "I'll make wine from your tears" and I melted again!
This is the song that was played at his funeral. Which is why I tear up every time I hear it.😢
@@sophitsa79 Yes, one of my favourite lyrics ever.

Thank you for mentioning that - now I see familiar sights.
How awesome!
I visited Prague with my wife in 2019 and because we are such big INXS fans we visited the Old Jewish Cemetery where the sax solo was filmed. Also Charles Bridge and the World Clock, such a beautiful city.
The saddest part is that we knew we were witnessing greatness, and will never know what more he would have done.
Truly our loss.

I totally agree.
Filmed in 1987 in a country that no longer exists. Two years before the “Velvet Revolution” and six years before Czechoslovakia split into two countries. Prague became the capital of the Czech Republic and Slovakia became a separate country.
The old man is Kirk Pengilly's grandfather. He's from Prague.
It's no longer the Czech Republic. The country changed name to Czechia in 2022.
@@SaturnusDK Actually the official long form name at the United Nations is still “Česká Republika” in the Czech language (“Czech Republic” in English). “Česko” (“Czechia” in English) was adopted in 2016 as the official “short form” of the name. This is similar to how “France” is the recognized English short name for the official formal name “République Française” (“French Republic” in English)
So we are both correct.

That was a fantastic concert!
@XwarriorsoulX that has been proven to be false. Nice to know you are 30 something years behind.
I would say Devil Inside is the song that evokes Morrison the most.
He was so much more than that!
He definitely had a Morrison vibe but he was more of a gentle personality than Morrison.
A lot of similarities in their appeal, though.

As more and more bands get forgotten, these reaction videos are a lifeline to nearly forgotten music. Thank you for reacting to this.
The drum fill leading into the sax solo is one of my favorite drum fills ever. It’s not flashy or complicated (though it is performed with a crap-ton of clean consistency), but it is the *right* fill played at the right time.
Perfection.
I LOVE Jon Farris! All my friends were ga ga over Hutch, but I was always watching Jon... still am

I’ve always enjoyed “The Devil Inside”. I was blessed to see these guys in concert in the early ‘80’s here in Winnipeg. They were awesome!

Here the same in 1996 :)
So heartbroken when he died...such a loss, such a sad ending. Will always love his voice & charisma.
Had more impact on me,that the death of Princess Diana
The night the taxi driver king hit him was what took his life. Lost so much of his senses and feel into depression from that.
Then the problems with bob amplified it all.
As an Aussie, I grew up during my formative years seeing INXS live in Melbourne pubs. I've seen them many times in concert over the years and this was the band I played most when I got my license. I'm still grieving over Michael Hutchence taking his own life in in 1997. RIP.
Edit: INXS are nothing like Depeche Mode.
Agreed on the Depeche Mode comparison, they're not at all similar.
Different music agree, but all bands of that era share a similarity because of the syths which aren't used like they were in the 80's and 90's anymore.
I find them to be more like U2.
In this song there are similarities with the sounds of the synths. that's just what she says and it's true
Aussies have a lot of good bands, too.... :) I would recommend some Midnight Oil as well, they are the the second best for me.

Musically, this is such an atypical INXS song. They evolved from sounding very new wave to sounding very sort of funk rock with new wave roots. I think Hutchence is probably the greatest rock front man of the 80s and 90s. Charisma, sex appeal, and an actually good singer on top of it.

Their fate was sealed and they passed through this world. Geldof stepped up and adopted their daughter for her to be with her half siblings. It’s such a crazy story. It truly breaks my heart. More so now that I have a daughter.
Yeah it's all pretty tragic and sad.
Bob, is definitely a guy who has stepped up.
The sexual chemistry in the Big Breakfast interview on TH-cam between Paula and Michael is something to behold.
I think she should visit some of the other Inxs songs in their catalogue, maybe scuicide blonde, or original sin? They have so many hits, and had sound that was very much their own
Should never go back to INXS. Pure Dullsville
My favorite band when I was in high school, these boys were. So excited to see you analyzing them. I especially loved "The Devil Inside." That guitar line just sticks in my head and won't let go, and I like it.
I totally missed this one! It's a great breakdown for sure. And I loved the Need You Tonight review, too 😊
Finally! I can't wait to see your reaction! Micheal had the most amazing voice. I got to see them live on the first show of their US tour for the Kick album. It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
I saw them live when they opened for the go-go’s
My favorite songs by INXS are Don't Change and a song that they did for the movie Soundtrack Lost Boys called
Good Times. There's two other songs that are my favorites as well, Shine Like it Does and the song Beautiful Girl.
You need to do a little more research regarding his death.
'Good Times' INXS w/ Jimmy Barnes is a must listen
Introduce her to Jimmy Barnes as well? Bloody genius! There's a live version with Chrissie Amphlett on backing vocals as well
Couldn't agree more!!! Two fabulous singers in one song.
Yas! LOST BOYS SOUNDTRACK!
Good call
@@karenpaxtonI listen to this often. Great songs for vocal lessons.
i remember going to the Coogee Bay Hotel to see them on their 'Back to Basics' tour.
INXS is my all time favorite band. There was something magical about them. Michael's voice gives me chills, listening to him sing is otherworldly.
Listen to I'm Just a Man, What You Need, Shine Like it Does, By My Side
Oh yeah, Shine Like it Does! Great tune!
I still to this day well up with every emotion listening to this song. When it hits it hits hard.
"Live Baby Live" is of such good quality and great to analyze/react to the live capabilities of the whole band. Lots of material potential there...
Classic Australian masterpiece thank you so much ..in excess ..my band in Australia have covered thos for years .. simple chords beautiful ballad
An Australian here, they are our band like AcDc is. “Devil Inside” is the one you need to listen/review next of theirs.
Seconding Devil Inside
INXS is one of my favorite bands from the 80’s
💯
I kid you not, when I saw this reaction pop up I SQUEALED! INXS was and is one of my top go to bands! This song is not a typical INXS sound. Check out "One Thing" or "Burn For You" and definitely "Don't Change"
Don't change is brilliant!
I love how you picked up on that high peak... so beautiful. I sing along with that part EVERYTIME I hear it. ❤
