The Fiat Ducato Lifter tank pump and lumpy hot start

In this video we work together to remove and install a new Fiat Ducato diesel fuel sender pump to reslove what was thought to be an issue with a lumpy start when the engine is hot, it was not, see how we the found the cause and resloved it.

I save you the time- hot starting problem was engine ground ( -) to the shassis, metal strap was corroded.

@@garyspracticalworkshop357 Hi Gary, similar issue with hot start on my Boxer 2.2, cannot find a braided earth strap from gearbox to chassis, only the battery negative in the cab? Thanks

On my ducato van I found it just behind the air fillter box , you may need to remove the top of the air gilter box to see and get clear access , cheers Gary

Thanks Gary, found it, yes it is awkward and rusty, the second bolt was left in situ and new earth lead connected and connected near the bonnet stay pivot, had a long earth lead, not been out yet to get the motor up to temp, but seemed to start from cold much easier, cheers, Derek@@garyspracticalworkshop357

Haha it looked super easy to fit the ring back on. I don’t know why but I can’t get the thing back on. It always is at an angle and gets blocked. Every watertank has a better fit. Do you have any tricks?

If you are talking about the fuel pump ring it sounds to me as if you may have it cross threaded, easily done...check your threads

Hi I think my tank is leaking from the sender cover, what is the spanner called and where did you get it from, also any idea what the seal may be called

Are you are refering to the large ring tool that is used to undo the the top seal threaded ring, if so, I got mine on Amazon, but be carefull which one you purchase. the seall is an "O" ring be carefull when tightening as it is easly pinched, cheers Gary

It is thank you, mine has got a slight weep from the joint and I need to either try nipping it up or replacing the seal/ O ring

i have a ducato that start and runs for 2 sec then stalls
