Don't forget this show is heavily scripted. "Buzzard" taking 3 bottles of wine right under Gordon's nose, Lex running off in the middle of service... Lela might have decided beforehand they had to go and they just dramatized the whole scene. Or it could have been Ricky throwing everyone under the bus by ratting Buzzard out and not helping Lex. The more drama the better.

I don't think Lex was wrong for having that ego/confidence boost, imagine being a head executive chef and unable to identify meats. But obviously Ricky proved himself
I dont think lex was a bad chef per se but he was under A LOT of pressure all of a sudden and he didn’t really have the experience to lead a kitchen and was overwhelmed by the whole thing. And it is pretty easy to imagine that being bossed around for all those months by Ricky’s ego had that effect on him. But alas he shouldn’t have walked out in the middle of service. He is just not cut out to handle pressure and responsibility
Lex IS a better cook, unfortunately he cracked pretty fast under pressure. Ricky got very lucky, he was able to shine because of that. Everyone praising him for this redemption arc.. This dude is still a bad cook and very arrogant. I don't know WHY you would want to keep a HEAD CHEF that doesn't even know the different between chicken and beef... it seem just like such a basic knowledge
I mean if you are as nervous as he was about running the kitchen you definitely shouldn't be as confident as he was that you could do it better than a guy that's been doing it for years 🤷🏼♂️
Having a good taste in food and higher-quality food prep is only good in a regular dining environment if you can bring *speed* to that precision. Likewise, having questionable taste doesn't make you incapable of following orders or getting shit done.
The owner of this restaurant is so pathetic. She's too quiet and passive and she didn't even know her head chef is always using powdered mashed potatoes and one of her employees like to steal things. She's only saying "I hope everyone's attitude change tomorrow." Like did she expected everyone's attitude will change 180° at 2 days? I'm surprised Gordon didn't yell at her like the other owners, probably because she's an old lady but he's been dealing with a lot of stubborn old people in this show.
Tabitha is the only one up to the restaurant’s standards. Lila is weak, and tried to step-up by yelling at a chef taking two minutes after four hours of work in the heat. The cook who was stealing? Wth, never seen that in kitchen nightmares
Lila finally took charge,a chef can't storm out of a kitchen to take a break when no costumers have gotten their food yet.All of them have worked in the heat those four hours
The introduction in the first 3 minutes where enough for me to make Tabitha my favourite. She has that commanding voice and attitude that usually comes from the kitchen and isn't pointed towards the kitchen.
@@x3.typical I've worked in a kitchen at a pub, though I wasn't in charge of it, it was clear the heat and an overwhelming environment can make it difficult for most people, especially if they're new in the role
Nah when you're working with food and you get busy you can't just go take a minute unless you feel you're gonna throw up or something. You need to get through your orders ASAP and like Lela said that if he couldn't handle it he should leave. Also Lex stated that he was definitely the better chef out or himself and Ricky so he did that to himself

- You know, while I agree that restaurants generally shouldn't use instant/powdered/frozen products especially if 'fresh' or 'made in house' words are used on menu listings, and I solidly agreed with Gordon with the whole potato situation, I have to admit - there is this one brand of dehydrated potatoes called "Idahoan" and I honestly think they are great, love the taste, and smooth texture. Granted most other powdered potatoes are not really that good, and often have a grainy texture, but those Idahoan dehydrated potato flakes cook up nice - no shame, no regrets :)
@@Arthaius I'm sure they're fine for personal use, hell, for personal use frozen food can be fine too, even really good! The problem is when you charge people money for it.
@@tafua_a - Agreed, I too was saying that in my opinion, restaurants in general shouldn't be using such products, especially when one goes to pay for dinner out, you expect some minimum level of home made/home cooked etc etc, that is why there are categories, fast food is basically cheap burger in a bag type food - Eat in sit down places should be at the very least proper cooked meals from raw ingredients, "Fine Dining" for the whole "Going out for dinner" as a treat special occasion, you don't want or expect fast food/processed/frozen etc. That's what T.V. dinners are for, going out and paying $20-$30 a plate, you damn well better be getting homecooked fresh stuff, for sure 100% on the same page my guy

The owner on Buzzard; 16:00 - we wonder why things are missing when he's gone Then, 50 seconds later; 16:50, we were thinking he was doing that, but never caught him in the act Something doesn't add up
The problem with this show - help arrives too late. The restaurant improved but Lela had so much debt - there was no other outcome, but closing no matter what.
Yeah but most of them lowered the dept. Better to go with -10 than -20, u feel me? Also I think most places could be better sold after gordons make over
It's not like they call him when they're getting fucked fucked, you expect him to be on google and check for low rated restaurants and be like "yeah let me and my whole crew wait 7 more months and then I'll go there"
@@stayhigh66 It's not that they don't call him - the format itself simply doesn't allow for help on time. They have specific number of episodes per season, so it's entirely possible for restaurant to wait months or a year for the filming crew. Then another year for the episode broadcast.... Hence the huge debts by the time he goes there.
You know Ricky may be loud and brash, but he showed he can be a good cook given the proper motivation. On the other hand, Lex seems like a nice guy because he's soft-spoken, but when things go wrong he becomes passive-aggressive and resentful. I'd rather work with a guy like Ricky over Lex.
Agreed. I’ve known people like Ricky in the past and, while they appear brash and loud, they’re usually deep down quite chill people if they can just calm down a tad. I certainly respect someone like him more than someone like Lex.
Yeah that's what I was thinking too, having worked in food service. He's a people person who can take charge of a situation, and I think the only reason he was so unprofessional with Tabitha was because she was often storming in angrily and so he was just dishing thay back to her. Ricky being loud and casual wouldn't have been an issue if the kitchen was separated from the dining room by more than a sheet of plexiglass.
You can say all you want about Ricky, but how he managed losing his title was humbling. He's got an attitude but he seems eager to learn and better himself. Hope all the crew is fine and well today (I know that's an old episode)
okay im 100% sure that every reopening night scene is supposed to be scripted to be chaotic but this is the first time that i felt so stressed watching it
The owner had already made up her mind that after Gordon leaves, she will close the restaurant. You can tell she was swimming in debt and owed her sister $60k.
He’s one of the few chefs on this show to go from being a complete generic knob to actually being somewhat humble. I know it’s probably hammed up for the show and all but meh, still nice to see.
Ricky is one of the most impressive comeback chefs of the entire series. Going from cocky and incompetent to focused and capable when s*** really hit the fan. RESPECT.
The owner claimed she did not know they were serving oh so horrid instant potatoes, but for that to be true it would mean that she never ate her own food, looked in the kitchen or perused the food orders.
Day 1: Gordon tastes and critics the food, the chef gets annoyed Day 2: Gordon checks out the kitchen and sometimes even vomits out of disgust, the kitchen is cleaned Day 3: Gordon introduces new dishes, new menu and the staff struggle while Gordon watches horrified, Gordon yells at the Chef and the chef leaves in anger Day 4: Everything finally starts coming around and they start receiving good feedback from the customers
40 minutes of a cash-strapped restaurant finally pulling it together, giving us all the sensation of hope and that anything is possible: 3 seconds of “in the end the restaurant shit down”.
I’m not even 20 minutes in and I can tell you the owner is a coward. Staff screaming at each other, nowhere to be seen. A chef openly taking food and leaving *while being filmed* and the owner “never had caught him in the act”. She just doesn’t know how to handle the staff. It’ll never last
Gordon's patience is truly remarkable. Despite the disrespectful attitude shown by that incompetent chef, if I were in Gordon's shoes, I wouldn't hesitate to dismiss him, even if it meant compensating the owner for the trouble
I just love this Gordan! Everytime I see his goodness towards the owner and the staff, it makes me cry. He is such a honest and caring person, will always put the business first. Such a darling, wish he could hug me as well (and also calls me.. 'come here my darling). 🤗
I worked for a restaurant where everything was frozen, pre packaged, absolute garbage, and yet people rate it 4/5 star. Its hilarious how dumb customers can be. People just dont know good food
I made the same experience in some of the restaurants I did work at but I see the problem in people eating too much processed food and not really knowing how to cook basic stuff... it's really sad
at 36:33 you can see a blurred out person, and it really looks like Lex, so they try to blurr him out to make it look that he was not in the kitchen anymore. Ahhh, TV.

I mean if you are as nervous as he was about running the kitchen you definitely shouldn't be as confident as he was that you could do it better than a guy that's been doing it for years 🤷🏼♂️
@@aiadevaur a hater
Having a good taste in food and higher-quality food prep is only good in a regular dining environment if you can bring *speed* to that precision. Likewise, having questionable taste doesn't make you incapable of following orders or getting shit done.
Ricky: Nobody else complaining about it
Gordon: Because there's nobody else in the restaurant
HAHAHAHA GOLD!
problems arise if you keep Eazy e as the main chef
@@heresomewhere7600 lmao. More like CJ' voice actor, Young Maylay
I was waiting for a comment like this. So true
She wanted to serve Gordon a 3 day old brownie😂😂
She was so upset looking for it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
When she said it was here three days ago 😭 blizzard was like u think brownie would survive 3 days with me
@@randomina465 Blizzard 🤣
At least it was homemade 😂
Having been the only cafe for 6 hours straight in crazy heat before even going to the bathroom, at the age of 17, he was looking for a reason to leave. If you're caring about the food and really in the flow then you wouldn't even notice 4 hours.
Ricky ratted on the old man buzzard
"He's walking down the alley right now, with his bag of goodies".
What the fuck, ratted on him like they're accomplices
Ricky knew Buzzard was worthless: a clowning mooch at best, joker thief at worst! Man didn’t do any work anyway!

"burger to me...is basic"
- man that used powdered mash potato.
@@tafua_a that and if you can't cook & mash potatoes you shouldn't be in the kitchen or charging money for food
I think he was saying that like: "When I cook a burger, it's just basic meat, maybe a little salt and pepper. Gordon's recipe wasn't as basic and it made me see them in a new light."
The owner on Buzzard;
16:00 - we wonder why things are missing when he's gone
Then, 50 seconds later;
16:50, we were thinking he was doing that, but never caught him in the act
Something doesn't add up
I reckon maybe the owner let him take home some unwanted food once or twice and he just ran with it
The problem with this show - help arrives too late. The restaurant improved but Lela had so much debt - there was no other outcome, but closing no matter what.
Yeah but most of them lowered the dept. Better to go with -10 than -20, u feel me?
Also I think most places could be better sold after gordons make over
Bruh they only call Gordan when it's too late
@@roguered6243 lol fr man
It's not like they call him when they're getting fucked fucked, you expect him to be on google and check for low rated restaurants and be like "yeah let me and my whole crew wait 7 more months and then I'll go there"
@@stayhigh66 It's not that they don't call him - the format itself simply doesn't allow for help on time.
Ricky being loud and casual wouldn't have been an issue if the kitchen was separated from the dining room by more than a sheet of plexiglass.
the redemption arc is always so satisfying to watch
Same haha.
You can say all you want about Ricky, but how he managed losing his title was humbling. He's got an attitude but he seems eager to learn and better himself. Hope all the crew is fine and well today (I know that's an old episode)
okay im 100% sure that every reopening night scene is supposed to be scripted to be chaotic but this is the first time that i felt so stressed watching it
Haha love how the waitress is like, "toMAto, and BAsil", and Ramsey immediately responds with, "So tomato and basil then?"
As a British person myself, its definitely a pronunciation thing. For example, "aluminium" is pronounced "al-oo-min-ee-um" not "al-oo-min-um"
The owner had already made up her mind that after Gordon leaves, she will close the restaurant. You can tell she was swimming in debt and owed her sister $60k.
Ricky's turnaround in this gave me such good vibes... can't stop smiling when he started stepping up after Lex bounced ^_^
He’s one of the few chefs on this show to go from being a complete generic knob to actually being somewhat humble. I know it’s probably hammed up for the show and all but meh, still nice to see.
What a turn around from Ricky, wow I nearly teared up when Gordon gave him his props.
me too , must feel great to hear that after so much stress and effort
Ricky is one of the most impressive comeback chefs of the entire series.
Going from cocky and incompetent to focused and capable when s*** really hit the fan. RESPECT.
Yea if he wanted keep his job no offense I would 100 so yes respect
The owner claimed she did not know they were serving oh so horrid instant potatoes, but for that to be true it would mean that she never ate her own food, looked in the kitchen or perused the food orders.
“Gordon had us clean! Sweep, mop, and dust!” like yeah you should really be doing that every single day 😭😭
I love that the head chef is diluted but still open for changes and never shouted to Gordon... I think he's all right
Day 1: Gordon tastes and critics the food, the chef gets annoyed
Day 2: Gordon checks out the kitchen and sometimes even vomits out of disgust, the kitchen is cleaned
Day 3: Gordon introduces new dishes, new menu and the staff struggle while Gordon watches horrified, Gordon yells at the Chef and the chef leaves in anger
Day 4: Everything finally starts coming around and they start receiving good feedback from the customers
You just summed up the entire series in 10 sentences and 4 paragraphs 🤣
Day 5: The restaurant closes down
your intelligence is scary
Day 5: The place closes down anyway
Kinda like bar rescue with jon taffer
40 minutes of a cash-strapped restaurant finally pulling it together, giving us all the sensation of hope and that anything is possible: 3 seconds of “in the end the restaurant shit down”.
"To me a burger is basic" and yet powdered potatoes are suitable for fine dining
I’m not even 20 minutes in and I can tell you the owner is a coward. Staff screaming at each other, nowhere to be seen. A chef openly taking food and leaving *while being filmed* and the owner “never had caught him in the act”. She just doesn’t know how to handle the staff. It’ll never last
I think Ricky's key strength was he didn't flap and worked well under pressure
Everyone in life deserves to find someone that looks at them the way Lex looks at Gordon.
I never wouldve thought, I would one day see snoop dogg get caught stealing by gordon ramsay 💀💀
That man dont look nothing like Snoop. You on a fine line with that shit
Wow! That Ricky character really stepped up under intense pressure. Incredible ability.
Gordon admitting he was proven wrong, that was a proper mentor moment.
The buzzard always had his beak stuffed & claws always hooked to stuff when heading to the nest 🤣🤣
Gordon, you are an inspiration. The sheer practicality, and then craftsmanship that you suggest, is gold.
If you're thieving from the resturant you work at, maybe don't do it when Gordon is there scrutinizing everything.
"I thought it was a pile of shit, I was embarrassed for you" - fucking savage 🤣🤣

Couldnt stand Ricky at first but wow did he turn things around and managed so well under all that pressure.
It beautiful to see all those young lovely people lift that place up with their love, passion and soul bravo keep it up.
Buzzard is the type of unc to ask for money, then get mad when you want it back.
I Love How Ricky respond to feedbacks and see it as an opportunity to learn from one of the best chef.
Thank God for Gordon Ramsey!!! He definitely is blessed with kindness and the love for food and cooking and people!
I wish Tabitha the best and hope she recovers as a Manager soon along with Lela and the rest of the staff.
They closed
She's not made for the Restaurant buisness, its very cut throat & she's soft & not alert enough. She is & will always be taken advantage of.
I worked for a restaurant where everything was frozen, pre packaged, absolute garbage, and yet people rate it 4/5 star. Its hilarious how dumb customers can be. People just dont know good food
I made the same experience in some of the restaurants I did work at but I see the problem in people eating too much processed food and not really knowing how to cook basic stuff... it's really sad
they assume that if it's expensive that it means it's good food.

Know your market. Pomona is mainly a college/artsy area now. Majority of people are not looking for fine dining. Restaurant doomed to fail.Well to university in a small city. The nearest restaurant to campus was a fine dining italian place. Went out of business. The Irish pub that replaced it thrived as it catered to the large population of college students (and also their families who came into town to visit) with alcohol (we had a dry campus so was nice to have pub walking distance, could drink just not on campus grounds), affordable appetizers and things like trivia night to bring us in.
Well done Ricky!!! Wow, what a turn around. I really hope you are still there. Great job

With all the fighting that goes on in the kitchen they should be offering complimentary earplugs. God knows the customers will need them.
Can some one edit the part with Lex screeching off in the car and everyone asking where he’s going and have Lex shout back “two minutes guys, just dropping some lamb over to Buzzard”
