A lot of time vintage stuff that sells for a premium isn't just because it's no longer made with the same quality, many times it's the fun of being brought back to when you were a kid in some weird way. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I paid more than $15 for a 40 year old toothbrush, but when it's a 1980's large Oral-B with those medium-hard squared off bristles in the translucent green handle that you wrestled with 3 times a day as a kid, it's a unique way to time travel a bit and so for $15 why not. It's a lot for a toothbrush, but cheap for a glimpse back in time.
NOSTALGIA! This is a great comment. I was telling my boyfriend how I saw someone in a video walk right on by serving dinner bowls (family style) that were like my mom's growing up. I would have paid what I could afford for it.
@@adessachui7777 Yep, that's the word! That makes Ebay kinda like the Sotheby's of the middle class. 😂 I once bought a Merlin electronic game from the 90's and while I'd pay X for a nice one, I can see how someone would pay XXXX for one new in the box. Fun to be a kid again, and also fun to show the parent who spent what was a fortune back then on it, and to let them know the impression it left.
I do the same thing with blocking users. Every single time I have had someone send me several messages, and I sent them something, they always act as if what we sent is not up to par. So we block because the hassle is not worth it. Go shop retail customer if you really have this many questions. They are never happy.
Great point about the abundance mentality, coupled with the example of the Kohler reseller you bought from it's a good lesson. Many eBay sellers get into this competitive mentality as if every other reseller is a one-person operation like you targeting the same kind of inventory. I was at the eBay Seller Social last spring and in just an hour I met close to dozen other sellers, each with a different business model. Some resold women's clothing, others vintage toys, others drop-shipped automatic garage door parts, shoes, Pokemon cards, etc. If you live in or near a mid to large-sized urban area in the US you shouldn't have trouble sourcing. People especially underestimate building contacts like you have and seeking out opportunities instead of complaining that there's not enough at the local garage sales and thrift stores. I'd argue that creating a solid listing habit is harder than finding new inventory, that's the fun part. The more you list, the more you sell, the more knowledge you gain, the more you refine what and how you source, the more money you make as you lock in a consistent system.
I took your advice on vintage things selling, because "they don't make them like they used to" I bought a 1998 Black and Decker can opener at a garage sale for $5. It was brand new in the box, and sold for $140 the same week I listed it Also, for whoever is reading this, they wrote $5 on the glossy box with sharpie, and a dry erase marker and a paper towel took it off nicely. I used purple, so it left a purple stain on the box, so that's just a heads up for anyone else who has a glossy box with permanent marker on it.
😂 "Vintage" is MADE IN AMERICA, Now. . You young kids crack me up. It's not "20 years" as Google wants to tell us. You keep searching and I will buy. You look for "Made in America" everything: not America company manufactured in China. Walk away if you see it. Have Faith in yourself because God is leading you. YOU matter to GOD!
@@pinkpigletparker8703 As much as I'm glad I crack you up, vintage is what buyers say, not what individuals say. I bought it for $5, sold it for more, I'm pretty happy regardless. You know, God is always doing a new thing, too. He Himself doesn't change, and His ways don't change, but life rolls on and morphs and grows as He intended. He rolls with the changes and adapts and meets each new generation where they're at. The way you see things is really new and different from people 100 years ago, and if they were alive they might say "you kids crack me up" too. But because I do have faith in God, I choose to be like Him and happily roll with the changes in life. Jesus was talking about righteousness and salvation when he said this, but I think as a general principle it applies here, too. "And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
As for people who ask a lot of questions about an item, I learned the hard way that if they don't already know the item and are checking on anything more than it's condition, it's very unlikely you're going to make them happy with even a very nice version of the item. You end up paying the price when they leave what is actually a product review in your feedback because they were shopping on Ebay instead of Target.
Thanks for continuing to share great content! Would love to see a video showing to integrate Flipwise into my eBay process. Stuff like updating FW with new inventory, how to revise existing inventory and how to best use FW to maximize use of eBay overall.
I absolutely love your little spiel about blocking people. I have not been reselling for very long- six months, but as soon as I get somebody who asks a ton of questions, I know that no matter what-for the most part, they are going to return the item. It’s has happened to me at least three or four times, enough times to know boom block immediately!!!
I am thankful for the information you share. I am a Flipwise subscriber and appreciate your solution. Keep up the good work. This community appreciates your honesty.
Wow, I have a pair of orange Hokas for sale as well as a Wii Sports (I found in the console..unexpected score). I also agree that there is so much stuff to be found, I get that desperate feeling as I run lower on inventory and then usually end up finding a ton of stuff the next week. It's hit and miss but I agree with your sentiment about letting the info get out there, it's a good energy to spread. Thanks as always for the videos!
I think you are right. Generating side hustle income is very possible, scaling to a good full time job is a lot harder (depends how you define good income).
Just started doing ebay more seriously and after watching your videos and seeing your app I got on board. I'm seriously impressed with how great it is. It makes everything so much easier to visualize and understand how we are doing as sellers. And i complete agree with you on keeping things out of the landfills. Thanks a ton and I enjoy your videos!
Vintage items are the best; they are still in great condition and sturdy. Even the dial phones, clocks from 1990s are cool and they still work. Had some dishes and pans from 1800s and they were beautiful. Many good memories for the old items. For blocking buyers, you just never know who is asking questions, had one buyer who asked us 9 separate questions on an item. Though all the answers were in the listing. But had a good feeling we answered all her questions. She ended up purchasing the item at full price. In her feedback she said, "these were the only Sellers who answered all my questions." So you just never know which buyer will purchase your item.
The sourcing of consistently good inventory at a higher rate is the issue I'm starting to run into now. When I was static, it was no biggie. Now that I'm traveling full time in an rv with my family and doing eBay full time, it's been hit or miss. Still figuring new sourcung processes out that will work no matter where I'm at.
Justin, I really enjoyed this video, receiving the great information you shared with all of us. Your explanations of different things definitely gives me some good advice to help me grow my re-sell store. Thanks again
I just went from PT to FT and it took about 2 weeks of grinding to get to the FT income. I bought large lots at estate sales to scale quickly without a huge investment.
Thank you for the reminder about having an abundance mentality. It's so easy to forget that life is rarely a zero sum game. A lot of people don't think it be like that but it do. 😂😂
Love your videos, valuable info, and your ethical way of being a reseller really stands out. I have a question; you mentioned a return label being used.. do you include a return label inside your shipped packages?
Shhh...don't tell them it is one of your favorite features, they will take it away! I couldn't agree with you more, it is one of my favorite things to do too, especially up front. I had an old item I was just trying to get rid of for $2. I was going to lose money anyway, but I just wanted to see if it would sell even at that price. But then I get a message asking me to take 50 CENTS off the two dollars. I'm sorry, if you can't afford 50 cents, I don't want you as a buyer. You are going to decide that the other dollar and fifty cents was too much too.
I feel super blessed where I live and what I have chosen to sell. There is so much abundance. My problem is not finding items. It’s stopping myself from buying everything. I have access to extremely high value items, nonstop . My issue is I cannot list fast enough .
I’ve got the opposite problem. Sourcing inventory is easy. Finding the 50 hours a day to sell it is the problem, which is why I use auction houses. Better prices than eBay and frees up your time.
Instead of sourcing 100 different items, try to find 10 items with 10 quantity. You can buy bulk boxes, pallets or truckloads from liquidation warehouses or locally and it saves me a lot of time and makes me more money. I either lot all of them up or sell them one by one, but i end up listing way less
Thanks Justin - awesome as ever! Quick question for next week please... What's your thought process when it comes to considering offers from buyers? (I seem to be turning most of them down - but feel I am maybe too attached to what I paid for the item/my perceived value of it). Cheers Eddie (over the pond in the UK!)
What specifically do you mean by bulk buying quantities? Do we bid on storage units? Buy pallets of returns from Amazon? Where do you find these bulk sources?
Justin, you are the best! Surprised me that your experience is XXL men’s clothing takes longer, mine seem to sell fairly consistently and a lot I have sold so far are also talls. I am still a newbie so perhaps not enuf experience to know at this point and don’t sell mainly clothes
Hi Justin, thank you for the great info. I learn so much from your channel. I’ve been reselling for 30 days I just got my first return on a scratched vinyl record. I specifically noted it in the listing and included photos of the scratches. I currently have no returns listed for my store, but I paid for and accepted the return anyway. If I receive the item back in the same condition, should I give partial refund for potential sales lost? I would appreciate your advice on this. Thank you.
Appreciate your videos , they really help! Love your honesty and transparency. I’m a busy mom and I run a non- profit, reselling on the side and I love it!! My sales have really took a nose dive in the last couple months. I know that you and other resellers list 20-40 items daily, but it’s difficult for me to list daily. I’m lucky if I lust 5-10 items in a week! Any tips to get this part done in a faster pace?
Score on the MAD magazine lot sale. Just bought 12 issues from the 1970s in excellent condition and unfolded for a $1 apiece at a garage sale this weekend. Listing them individually on eBay.
*raises hand* Ive been selling on ebay since 1999...ie been selling as my source of income since 2013. I block people with glee. Dumb questions, people telling me where they can get it cheaper, people that dont like the fact that I charge for shipping...anyone wanting to play lets make a deal (but insulting and absurd)....all block block block. Problems tell you they are problems before they are a problem. I have found that 25% of the time I get an angry email from someone complaining about my price on a collectable that has been out of production for 10 years and proceed to tell me what they are willing to pay for it and blah blah blah...they then come back and try to buy the item anyways. Then they email me and ask why they cant buy the item and why they are blocked. It makes me laugh. I also sell on Amazon and you *do not* have the ability to block on Amazon...you are just a sitting duck to any scammer or inherently unhappy persons abuse. It makes being able to block on Ebay or Mercari that much sweeter. To all other seller reading this. Dont be desperate for a sale...Some peoples money just isnt worth that much!
Good points, I stay away from those who ask alot of questions on the condition of the item. I post alot of pictures, especially if it has any kind of damage or even a scratch. There's a good chance that once they get the item, they want a partial refund for any reason. My answer: return it.
@@anthonyxavier6300 when they ask alot of questions they are typically setting the table for calling the the seller a liar and claim there is something wrong or damage. Then when they send you "your item" back...switcharoo. Also...if you have someone that is real intense about buying something but is also beating you down on the price and you block them...and then soemone comes along with the same interest and asks the same questions...that is someone with 2 accounts or someone recruiting a coworker to do some dirty work. Just keep on blocking! When I say that I got hit by a conartist back in 2010 that was working out of 3 ebay accounts (all lead back to the same paypal---i worked with a dozen other sellers to bust that woman and Ebay refused to end her account but they did give us all our money back and remove the negative feedbacks)...Over on Mercari I had a woman express cheapskate interest in a facewash. She was a nurse (it was in her user name). In 24 hours I had a new person with the same low ball offer...I read her profile...she was a nurse. Blocked her too. I ended up removing that item from Mercari and posting it on ebay 6 months later. Additional flag. If someone comes out of the box with a "Hun", "Sweetie", "Darling", ect...block. They are trying to endear themselves so they can lowball and then bitch. Aint nobody got time for that.
Also-also If someone starts acting weird...check their feedback that they have left for others. That can frequently tell you a story of someone that is constantly bitching trying to get free shit. Also...be ware of other sellers. Other sellers are the absolute worst...especially the ones that are bottom feeders. They can be demanding and unreasonable...nbeating you down on the price because they are effectively trying to buy your inventory and make it their own because they were not smart enough to go find it themselves. THen when you wont cooperate they can give very nasty. All of these things are from experience.
I sold a camera that was worth $300. Tested before listing and before I shipped the item. The buyer claimed something was wrong with it. I told them to return it. Instead they open a case against me. Luckily ebay took my side. Guess what? Soon after that buyer listed the same exact camera for almost double what I sold for! I immediately notified ebay but I don't believe nothing happened because I still see them selling. I hope karma gets he or she.
Hi, Justin! I’m loving your videos! They are extremely helpful and down to earth! I am also using Flipwise and love it! One question I have is when you’ve gone sourcing and have a ton of stuff, how are you keeping track of how much you paid for it? If you don’t list something right away, do you ever forget how much you actually spent on it (or is it just me!?) 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I like that Flipwise automatically pulls info from eBay and prompts me to fill in the additional info such as how much I paid for the item, but that’s once it’s already listed.
Thanks! I have a good memory and list most things the same day that I buy them. That said, we are working on functionality now that will let you add items to your inventory right away instead of having to wait until they are listed on eBay. Coming soon!
Thank you for creating these videos. They have really helped me on my reselling journey after a rough layoff. I have a question if you don't mind? How far are you willing to go for garage sales?
I am not sure about under armour shorts but I know, because I just looked at the metrics, that you should only bundle their polos, and then only pick them up if super cheap. Basic Polo Ralph Lauren, basic Peter Millar polos are also like this.
I’ve learned a lot from your videos!! Question - new reseller here. Have been doing it about a month. Have 50+ items posted and have sold 10. No feed back from buyers yet. I’m starting with clothes only for now - low risk and clothes won’t break in the mail!!! lol I have items I plan to sell in the future that should bring $200+. How many sales / feedback should I have before I start listing higher priced items? Thanks!!!
I would agree with shoe sellers. All the men in my house wear size 12 to 14 and it’s hard at times to find shoes in our sizes especially in athletic shoes like football cleats, track shoes etc.
historically large shoes sell faster but it stops at 13 usually, alot of people are 11/12/13, it drops off at 14 (most of the time)...great video, I watch every monday
I just started the video. So far, I've been doing local pallet bid auctions and going to thrift stores. I use the time I have. Most of the quality items I've acquired sell quickly. It's very interesting what I would consider trash that brings a high price. Most garage sales in my area are savvy to resellers and command too high a price. Or they just have junk. Interested what you have to say for the next 20 minutes.
I’m starting my reseller journey selling video games from Malta 🇲🇹 in the EU. The shipping here is crazy from around 4$ not tracked/registered and about 9$ for shipping registered. Do you think I should offer the non tracked shipping option and will I get penalised for it? Currently I’m giving the buyer both options when ordering but for higher priced games I always ship tracked regardless to avoid returns and for piece of mind. Should I be worried when I send untracked? The courier services like Dhl, FedEx, ups start from just shy of 100$ no matter what weight so I can only ship with the local post office which then is transferred to usps for US orders. Apart from this do you have an estimated time frame when flipwise will be available for US stores with different currencies? As I can’t wait to start using it! :) Love the weekly videos, keep it up! ❤ - Matteo
I know every listing is different but do you have a rule of thumb on how much you would accept as a best offer - like what % of your asking price is generally acceptable?
Hi Justin - Another question for you. I've noticed that some of our eBay sales appear to go to other eBay or Amazon resellers who use me as a drop shipper. The telltale sign seems to be the buyer note "Purchased as a gift. Please do not include packing slip and ensure it's packaged "blind" with no eBay nor other markings." When I look at the buyer ID/location, it does not match the shipping address. I'm also skeptical these are truly gifts. I've never had any issues with these transactions but have always wondered how they can possibly be making viable margins reselling and drop shipping my items. We see it mostly on new items and, interestingly, VCRs. We sell at prices comparable to or higher than others. Have you experienced this or have any insight to how this is even viable for these buyers? Just how much more could they be charging? Thanks again for your great content and willingness to share your knowledge. PS...We love your editing style and how you keep in your flubs, dogs barking and insert a "Thank you." Very real and entertaining!
The thing to worry about is not giving up secrets, per se. You are right. There is too much STUFF out there. We are a consumer culture (especially America). The thing to worry about is that the supply is beginning to exceed the demand. As companies continue to churn out items for people to buy, more is produced. For the things that last, people don't need to buy another - maybe in their lifetime. There are only so many buyers on ebay. It's still not a widely accepted genereal marketplace - definitely not the way Amazon is. And that is because the great majority of people would like to purchase NEW items. The real way to begin to keep stuff out of the landfill is to change consumer BUYING behavior, to make used goods the preferred thing. This is also made more difficult as the purchase price of NEW goods continues to decline due to "manufacturing efficiencies" (forced labor) and quality shortcuts. Education and different priorities are the "answer." When the economy is bad, the reselling market improves.
Hi Justin, I am going to start re-selling. I have watched so many teachers about it and learned a lot. However, there seems to be a common theme: not wanting to list. Do you think there are two types of people on eBay: workers and slackers? I noticed today when I was doing pre list work for 8 hours for movies: sellers only did one picture, no description, etc. Description was the movie case. If I was the buyer: I want to see the disc and that you put some effort into the listing. I also saw a lady refer to a high end Chef pan as "black" when it was seasoned Carbon. Hence, know your product. I look at eBay as you get what you put into it. And here's another reason I say this: I see people using the camera ALL the time instead of knowing what they are looking for BEFORE hand. Is eBay the difference between Mice and Men?
Question: I'm thinking about adding International Shipping Program to my ebay store...can you pick and choose the listings you want included in the program? I'm only interested in starting with easy to ship items...I'm a little nervous shipping breakables for ebay to repackage and mail out. Thanks for your content and advice.
Will flip wise calculate my prior sales as well if I fill out the information. Or will it calculate just what I have now when I install the app? Thanks..
when tax time comes and ebay shows you made say $5000, but it was from yard sale and thrift store purchase and maybe low markup, do you have to just pay the tax on $5000 or how on only your $ 1000 profit / thanks
Hey Justin, I recently had a return because the item was damaged in the mailing process. I filed an insurance claim with the USPS and am still waiting on a decision, but I am curious if you have any experience with USPS insurance claims? I have sold hundreds of the items on eBay and this is the first time this has happened. I wonder how often they grant refunds and what my chances will be. Could they deny a claim because of my packaging? Anywho, love your channel and keep up the good work. Cheers from Florida!
How do you decide between listing a unique item that has no comps versus a dud that hasn't sold? You mention some of yours items sit longer than 6 months to sell. When do you decided to send offers, promote or donate? Thanks for the information in your videos.
Great video, thanks for the content. Question for you. I’m a rookie reseller, part time for 2 months. Do you ever list “buy it now” items and use the “median sold price” that ebay recommends? I sell quite a bit of clothing lots and ebay always recommends very low listing prices. Do most resellers just ignore Ebay’s recommended listing price? Thanks!
Can you share your rationale for listing the Mad Magazines the way you did? I would've been tempted to list them as auction, or maybe buy it now separately or buy it now in smaller bundles. And btw -- I actually look forward to Mondays now that I have your videos and Galaxy CDs videos to watch. Thanks for being so faithful to bring us quality info!
Hello Justin, I am wondering if you require immediate payment on all of your sales and if I should with a free store? Are customers able to bundle items at check out into one payment if I require immediate payment, or is this only available for paid shops? Thank you, love your videos.
I had a very large plush that I was going to sell but decided not to because I couldn’t compete with other people’s shipping prices for the same item. Shipping for me started at $30 and I saw people selling the same exact item for $30 plus free shipping. How are they making anything on that?
Do you have a bank of videos on flipwise? I work 3 nights a week and tend to lisen to tech while working soaking up research. I am getting flipwise here next week once my business bank card arrives and want to hit the ground running making a month of drafts inputing the cost, bought where, location stored etc so that is all in flipwise from the start up to a month before making sales. I am trying to avoid spending a entire day I can be making drafts watching videos or reading over stuff I could have done previously at my mindless night job. Is there tech videos out on how to do "this"or is it like in a pdf or in the discord forum etc. Somethings you just need to do by doing. But a majority of things I can get a grasp on by listening to a vid then looking it more in depth if I get stuck later.
New sub here. In regards to the under wear question, I can relate. My biggest pet peeve is shoes! I've had the biggest issue buying shoes since "not REALLY made in America," anymore. I don't have fat feet nor wide feet, but I'm not a Platypus and a size 7 1/2 ladies is now a size 4 in kids size. Shoes don't have arches either anymore. I got into an argument with a shoe store owner because he said "well if you want made in America shoes, that would be a fortune." Wake up, I was thinking. In the old days it didn't cost a fortune to buy made in America. Also, I told him I would rather pay $2-$300 then for garbage. If anyone finds old Nike sneakers with The ARCH, hit me up!
income tax varies greatly across individuals and is difficult/impossible to determine in real-time. for example, i have no idea what my total income will be for the year, how much I will have in total for write-offs for the year, etc.
I agree with the unknown income generated but the standard rule of being an independent business owner is set. As our own boss we need to pay for social security, Medicare, and any other tax an employer would pay. This is in addition to what we normally pay. My rule of thumb is 30% of total income goes towards taxes. Of course we have a glob of write offs, and shoot for a loss on paper. Gosh I hate to be a David Downer, but the government changed the level before reporting from 20 g's to 600 bucks.
I got hooked on going to Goodwill during Covid. I was spending $1000/week at just Goodwill. NO ONE was in the stores for about a year and a half. The day the CDC lifted mask restrictions people flooded to the thrifts. I was able to buy a lot but it got very competitive as you had to grab fast to get good items. The super premium items dried up slowly over 6 months. I knew I needed to go back to estate sales and garage sales but thrifts were so much easier to shop. It wasn't until I walked out empty handed 6 times that I was able to break the habit. I would say it was an addiction. I am free of them atlas.
@SprucedandGussied I had been reselling for 30 years. I had never seen anything change so quickly as online sales skyrocketed during Covid. Everything would sell and at a premium price. I have always bought when the buying is good so I recognized the trend and rode it out. I was selling $60,000 per month. It about killed me. I will say that I had to hire some help because there was so much to buy at great prices and all i wated to do was source. Unfortunately, things have normalized.
If a buyer is asking lots of questions that are answered within the listing I check their feedback left for others - if I see what I consider picky feedback, or feedback related to the item and not the transaction - def block! Recently I blocked a potential buyer who left TONS of negative feedback for purchases based entirely on how they felt about the item (fabric feels itchy, the book was boring, my kids didn't enjoy the game, etc. ) Ebay should explain on the feedback page that they're not reviewing products!!!
It's even worse for Amazon FBA book sellers when you go into thrift stores and find that they've priced the books higher than what they cost on Amazon.
I wonder if the vintage underwear was sold in the US back then. That could be a reason. Some people really look for US made which is harder to find now.
It's coming along! We ran into some issues because apparently Canadians can sell in both US and Canadian dollars, which means there can be multiple currencies in a single eBay store, and Flipwise expects only one. So we are working through that issue and hope to open for business there soon!
I quit buying from my local Thrift stores because they started charging retail and sometimes higher prices. If people start charging ebay prices at garage sales, the may as well give it away because people will not buy!
Iv3 found 2% on everything almost doubles my sales. Mix that w markdown sales( just increase the price of ur item to make it the same u want to sell it for) also helps double my sells
Your average listings per day is 34! It takes me ALL day to list 17, on average. That's even with coffee! I tell myself I'm going to list 40 and 17 seems to be my sweet spot. I have to change somehow. I think I know all the shortcuts, too.
You've got to do similar items. I can do 30-50 per hour. But I'm not listing a TV, then clothes, then a cd..... I'm doing 50 maps.. then 50 postcards.. etc. If you need help, lmk
I hear ya. I once felt like passing out after spending a whole day getting 15 listings done. If you sell clothing and provide detailed descriptions with measurements, like I do, each listing is going to be time-consuming.
@@BlissfulDee As someone who occasionally buys clothing on eBay... THANK YOU to all you sellers who put accurate measurements in your listings. At 7:35 you go over the "Parts Only/Not Working", no return policy, and that eBay will have your back if the buyer is not happy. That is true UNLESS they try to return it as "Not as described", and it doesn't matter how you list the item. I had a DVD/VCR combo that was listed as Not Tested, No Returns, Part Only, and eBay forced me into a refund when the buyer said the VCR ate his tapes and claimed it was not as described. The only option I had was to accept the return myself or have eBay set in, force the refund, and take a hit on my Top Rated status. Smart buyers can still game the system. And to your next point on the video, he was immediately blocked from future sales.

i really liked that answer cuz there really is sooooo much stuff out there and we really need to recycle repurpose reuse
I took your advice on vintage things selling, because "they don't make them like they used to"
I bought a 1998 Black and Decker can opener at a garage sale for $5. It was brand new in the box, and sold for $140 the same week I listed it
Also, for whoever is reading this, they wrote $5 on the glossy box with sharpie, and a dry erase marker and a paper towel took it off nicely.
You can take off sharpie with rubbing alcohol
Justin I love that you mentioned you do what’s needed to keep stuff out of the land fill. I try and recycle all That I can. We all need too!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I too blocked almost from day one bc someone had a question that was not only in the description but also in my pictures. Thx much for the shortcut :)
Thanks for continuing to share great content! Would love to see a video showing to integrate Flipwise into my eBay process. Stuff like updating FW with new inventory, how to revise existing inventory and how to best use FW to maximize use of eBay overall.
Yes. I'd like that too
Justin Resells, You're the best! I subscribed because I love your content!
Your video's never disappoint! Thank you for always giving great information!
Thanks!
I think you are right. Generating side hustle income is very possible, scaling to a good full time job is a lot harder (depends how you define good income).
I’m 100% with you on asking a ton of questions. It normally spells trouble
I appreciate your support!
Thanks! I enjoy watching your style of video. Cant get bored!
Thanks for the content..you advice is super sensible without a lot of fluff..appreciate the honesty!!
Great answer to the first comment regarding pricing items at garage sales at eBay prices.
Right?! I'm going to use this metric from now on when negotiating at garage sales!
Better prices than eBay and frees up your time.
where do u find auction house l in calif
50 hours in a day? You're doing it wrong
Jeez thousands would like to be you
Auction houses are picky about what they take or they don't get very good returns. What kinds of things are you picking and consigning?
Instead of sourcing 100 different items, try to find 10 items with 10 quantity. You can buy bulk boxes, pallets or truckloads from liquidation warehouses or locally and it saves me a lot of time and makes me more money. I either lot all of them up or sell them one by one, but i end up listing way less
Watched you video yesterday and found a fireplace remote at a garage sale today. Would have never thought about grabbing it otherwise. Thanks.
Awesome! Now you owe me $5 though.
Thanks Justin - awesome as ever!
Quick question for next week please...
What's your thought process when it comes to considering offers from buyers? (I seem to be turning most of them down - but feel I am maybe too attached to what I paid for the item/my perceived value of it).
Cheers
Eddie (over the pond in the UK!)
Thank you.
Ty for not being a gate keeper. Landfills?… sad. I gained a whole new respect for u + ur inventory thought process.
Kudos to u👏❣️
Appreciate your videos , they really help! Love your honesty and transparency. I’m a busy mom and I run a non- profit, reselling on the side and I love it!! My sales have really took a nose dive in the last couple months. I know that you and other resellers list 20-40 items daily, but it’s difficult for me to list daily. I’m lucky if I lust 5-10 items in a week! Any tips to get this part done in a faster pace?
I have another video on that! th-cam.com/video/RFwAfLJWAGg/w-d-xo.html
Great job with the MAD magazines! Are all of your listings BUY IT NOW? Or do you chance auctions on some of them?
Awesome news! Thank you!
I’m the same with coffee mugs. I’ve finally stopped buying them.
Is Flipwise fiscally wise for a part time seller who only makes 3 to 500 a month?
Thank you for creating these videos. They have really helped me on my reselling journey after a rough layoff. I have a question if you don't mind? How far are you willing to go for garage sales?
Can you talk about how you decide auction versus buy it now versus both? What about accepting offers?
How do you store your stock? My stick is starting to get a bit over everywhere in my garage
I’m starting with clothes only for now - low risk and clothes won’t break in the mail!!! lol
I have items I plan to sell in the future that should bring $200+. How many sales / feedback should I have before I start listing higher priced items? Thanks!!!
I would agree with shoe sellers. All the men in my house wear size 12 to 14 and it’s hard at times to find shoes in our sizes especially in athletic shoes like football cleats, track shoes etc.
historically large shoes sell faster but it stops at 13 usually, alot of people are 11/12/13, it drops off at 14 (most of the time)...great video, I watch every monday
good to know, thank you
I just started the video.
Love the weekly videos, keep it up! ❤
- Matteo
I know every listing is different but do you have a rule of thumb on how much you would accept as a best offer - like what % of your asking price is generally acceptable?
I don't remember if you have discussed this in the past, but do you figure in a cost for your time when calculated your weekly net return? Thanks!
No, I don't. But this is a part time thing for me.
Do you believe the selling concept of selling via the slow dime instead of the fast nickel is best when selling part time?
Thank you for your content. Very helpful.
Thanks for the mobile app block buyer tip. So much easier!
Love your videos even though I do not want to sell on eBay. Great job.
Thanks..
it’ll calculate sales going back two years
when tax time comes and ebay shows you made say $5000, but it was from yard sale and thrift store purchase and maybe low markup, do you have to just pay the tax on $5000 or how on only your $ 1000 profit / thanks
You say to scale it's about making bigger bulk bits, I've known that for a year, but the issue becomes..... where? I never find good, big bulk buys
Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge. I am seventy-one and needed something to help you daily living, so I am doing this.
Do you ever remove listings of items that don't sell? Or remove any items that don't seem to get views? If so, what determines the removal?
I see you have some hats listed. What is your process for cleaning hats before you list them?
You are the only seller I hear saying xl sizes are harder to sell. My experience is the larger sizes sell better for me 🤔
How do you decide between listing a unique item that has no comps versus a dud that hasn't sold? You mention some of yours items sit longer than 6 months to sell. When do you decided to send offers, promote or donate? Thanks for the information in your videos.
Great video, thanks for the content.
Question for you. I’m a rookie reseller, part time for 2 months.
Do you ever list “buy it now” items and use the “median sold price” that ebay recommends?
I sell quite a bit of clothing lots and ebay always recommends very low listing prices. Do most resellers just ignore Ebay’s recommended listing price? Thanks!
Check comps, ignore ebay pricing. IMO, all the platforms have terrible pricing suggestions.
I'll cover this in next week's video!
Hello Justin,
I am wondering if you require immediate payment on all of your sales and if I should with a free store? Are customers able to bundle items at check out into one payment if I require immediate payment, or is this only available for paid shops? Thank you, love your videos.
I had a very large plush that I was going to sell but decided not to because I couldn’t compete with other people’s shipping prices for the same item. Shipping for me started at $30 and I saw people selling the same exact item for $30 plus free shipping. How are they making anything on that?
You mention your “backlog” of inventory often. What is the current size of your eBay store?
I have 1,059 currently listed.
Great vid Justine!!!
Do you have a section for income tax to be paid? Wouldn't that affect the net proceeds?
income tax varies greatly across individuals and is difficult/impossible to determine in real-time. for example, i have no idea what my total income will be for the year, how much I will have in total for write-offs for the year, etc.
4k a month at Goodwill?! 🤯🤯🤯 you must’ve been selling a TON of stuff to be spending that on inventory.
Thanks for answering my question with great advice.
Outstanding Vid Justin Thank You!!😊
It's even worse for Amazon FBA book sellers when you go into thrift stores and find that they've priced the books higher than what they cost on Amazon.
For me, shoes sell slowly unless they are cleats or golf shoes.
Well done, as always!
I wonder if the vintage underwear was sold in the US back then. That could be a reason. Some people really look for US made which is harder to find now.
you're right, made in USA stuff is often harder to find and more valuable! pretty sure these were made overseas though
How is the Canadian version of your app coming along?
It's coming along! We ran into some issues because apparently Canadians can sell in both US and Canadian dollars, which means there can be multiple currencies in a single eBay store, and Flipwise expects only one. So we are working through that issue and hope to open for business there soon!
Like your pace and content.
Your a good guy Justin 👍
I am surprised that you bundled 6 PAIR of jeans instead of making 2 lots of 3 pair. Go for it!
I thought about doing that but figured I'd give all 6 a shot with one listing. Sold in 2 days!
Thank you for the mention
thank you for the hypothetical!
I quit buying from my local Thrift stores because they started charging retail and sometimes higher prices.
If people start charging ebay prices at garage sales, the may as well give it away because people will not buy!
Do you promote your listings ? If you do what percentage do you promote ?
Iv3 found 2% on everything almost doubles my sales. Mix that w markdown sales( just increase the price of ur item to make it the same u want to sell it for) also helps double my sells
I have a whole other video on that! th-cam.com/video/Kef1xouVphA/w-d-xo.html
Do you sell at auction on eBay? Or only a set price?
I have a video on that! th-cam.com/video/-O32DfKrQy0/w-d-xo.html
@@justinresells thank you
So which thrifstore are you talking about in your thimbnail?
any!
Your average listings per day is 34! It takes me ALL day to list 17, on average. That's even with coffee! I tell myself I'm going to list 40 and 17 seems to be my sweet spot. I have to change somehow. I think I know all the shortcuts, too.
His average is per week. He aims for 5/day
You've got to do similar items. I can do 30-50 per hour. But I'm not listing a TV, then clothes, then a cd..... I'm doing 50 maps.. then 50 postcards.. etc. If you need help, lmk
Niche down and sell similar off your own listings
(A size is not enough, sizes are literally meaningless.) Double thanks for those who put in accurate descriptions, don't use those cringe AI descriptions, examine your items and note defects.
Using Ebay to price stuff at a garage sale is dumb. Makes me think people don't want to sell anything.
At 7:35 you go over the "Parts Only/Not Working", no return policy, and that eBay will have your back if the buyer is not happy. That is true UNLESS they try to return it as "Not as described", and it doesn't matter how you list the item.
