Thanks buddy. I am thinking of joining the online archery academy to see if that can help. The advice he gives is good and I am already seeing improvement by just watching his videos.
I noticed that you pull your bow arm down on release. Does this not affect your shot. Like your videos. I'm 73 and still enjoying archery here in the UK.
@harry2451 i am working on that, but it doesn't seem to be effecting my arrow flight. Good that you are still shooting. Hope I am when I gat to your age 😁
So due to the weather issues u were referring to Andrew I haven't shot a score with my recurve @ 18 meters all year. I have the target faces but u have to focus & walk b4 u can run. The last Saturday back in April when people r just getting over winter in MN we had 85* F! That immediately ushered in a triple hatch of mosquitoes. So what I did was try to find time when we had some wind & the bugs weren't so relentless. Depending on the weather I shot only to build up my stamina @ 7 to 9 meters. I have 2 foam targets that r stacked with a 4" circle on them. I didn't even bother shooting my 2 dozen Pandarus Icepoint arrows @ this point. I used my 1 dozen Pinals fat arrows that shoot good as soon as I put on my NAP flipper rest. Plus it's short range shooting anyway. I shoot 6 into the one circle & the other 6 into the 2nd circle. I shoot until all 6 arrows r in the 4" circle in each target. When I started this process I would have like 4 or 5 shots over 12 to put all 12 arrows into the 2 circles. Things have gotten better shooting wise. I'm able to shoot 12 for 12 many times. However I do have fliers or outliers once in a while. But the weather just won't let up. We have a chance of hitting 80*F today 😮! I still have tornado damage to fix so I won't be shooting today. The one thing I have done is I've found some really good supplements to boost up my shooting platform. I don't have the fatigue I had when it was 85*F late April months ago. My bloodwork is even better so it's allowed me to add lean muscle mass while keeping my B.M.I. under 10. I have small joints & bones so I can't carry around alot of weight. It also takes away from my flexibility. Flexibility is something that helps me out with my daily routine. Being pro-active with your health is very important here. Unless u need surgery to save your life here there's no such thing as health care. It's all just sick care. The people stranded inland from the 1st hurricane found that out the hard way. They got their help from other states, not the feds. Here's to all the archers following your great system to be better mate. As long as u don't have a setback between now & the big comp I think u will do very well. I'm sure no matter what the conditions r that u won't be let down by your stabilizing kit systems😅🎉.
Sounds like this year has been pretty awful for you weather wise. Luckily here down in NZ we don't get the really bad weather plus the temps are not too bad either. We do get Black flies (we call them Sand flies here) that can be a real pest. I think most places have bad health systems. My daughter has been waiting over a year , in pain and on some strong drugs for the pain, to get her gall bladder removed. Still waiting, and we only have just over 5 million people in the whole country. Good luck on the damage clearing. I must admit, I have never been very flexible, and with 30+ years of working in the Navy, my joints aren't as supple as they used to be, plus the spinal fusion I had doesn't help. However I can still shoot and learning new things everyday and my shooting is slowly getting better. As for the competition, I am looking forward to seeing old friends and and just shooting some longer distances. Stay well buddy and hope you can find a few days to lob some arrows.
@@brookvalleylife724 The key is topography. U r mountainous & have valleys. If u take all of the lower 48 states & all of Canada we r in the middle of a continent on flat ground. We seem to not have 4 seasons as much as 4 extremes.
@@brookvalleylife724 I would take that. We had a NZ winter last year. Rain & 10" of snow all winter. The year b4 I almost died from removing 90" of snow. It was very, very cold when it wasn't snowing. I wasn't in as good of shape that I am now & 1 more winter month in April & it might have been the end of me. Instead that year we had 5 consecutive days of summer in mid-April. That led to 3X the mosquitos in a week & no spring. Just brutal & ruthless. I don't mind winter but only when it's book-ended with a reseasonable fall & spring.
Current set up: winwin AXT riser, 38lbs limbs but measure at 42lbs on fingers. I train volume with that set up. I have a pair of 46lbs limbs (I think it’s 51lbs on fingers) I use for 1 to 2 dozen shots for strength training at the moment. My max volume is +150 arrows, my goal is +240 arrows in a session using 24 arrow ends Using the 50lbs limbs, I can only shoot +60 more arrows afterward. Using only the 42lbs limbs, I can shoot +120 arrows. I stop counting after 10 ends (12 arrows)
Perfect excuse to go back to the drawing board and refine technique. Age is just a number really. Cesar shot gold in world 3D championship at 61. In his case the man just keeps getting better it's not even funny anymore 🤣.
It's funny you said this as in my next video I talk about looking at an online coaching website and using it to see if I can get better and see a change. Should be fun.
Nice you'll get there soon keep working on it
