I clean them every so often with a MAF cleaner. It's a spray that doesn't leave any residue behind.

the passenger side air filter is hard to remove with big hands. may as well do the cab filter also , it will give you much better access

Yeah, that side is a little harder to get out and yes, you’re right, it will free up some more space for the cab filter.
