Last week I made your orange chiffon cake, this weekend I'll definitely make this delicious orange ice cream! Thank you Stephanie! We all love your work!
I am definitely not leaving out the vanilla. Orange and vanilla go very, very well together and it's a great combination. Thanks for the recipe and the demonstration. I will definitely be trying this out.
I was going to make chocolate ice cream tomorrow, but you've changed my mind and do orange. I love all of your recipes. Just all good comfort food. Thanks for the descriptive tasting for us. Looks perfect.
Hello from Malta in the Mediterranean! Thanks for the recipe, I’ve got two orange trees full of fruit, was very happy to come across your recipe. I’ve prepared all the ingredients and placed in the fridge for making it tomorrow, thank you!
OMG I have to say that I was looking for a Graham Cracker Recipe and I found you, I'm so happy to find you Stephanie you make my day!! So simple, so real life... thank you so much!!
Oh wow who would have known you can make orange ice cream with just cream and orange juice! I don t have an ice cream machine but I think I'll invest in one one lol. Thank you Stephanie.
You can 'still freeze' this ice cream. Put the cold mixture in a shallow pan, preferably metal. Place in the freezer for about one hour or until the mixture starts to freeze around the edges. Take out of the freezer, give the mixture a good stir and place back into the freezer. Again, let the mixture start to freeze around the edges, take out of the freezer, stir, and return to freezer. Keep doing this until you have ice cream.
This looks delicious, and with the heat going on here (already over 96.4F at the end of May!!!), a lovely homemade orange ice cream must be great... and I definitely would add the zest! Would the recipe for a lemon ice cream or for any fruit ice cream similar then? Thanks for sharing, Stephanie
I made this tonight, have a good ice maker. I added 1/2 of Cointreau and 1/2 of Citron Vodka with the hopes this will add flavor and keep it smooth as frozen ice cream, otherwise followed your instruction. Yummy!
I just did this minutes ago but using blood oranges and tripled the recipe to fill a 1 gallon maker. It had just the right amount of sweetness, tartness and creaminess. Yummy.
You tripled it to make a gallon? But hers makes only 3 cups, so wouldn't tripling the recipe only give you 9 cups, which is 7 cups short of one gallon..? I wonder why anyone would go to all that trouble of making ice cream for such a LITTLE AMOUNT!!! Why in the world wouldn't she have made a gallon - or at least a 1/2 gallon. After all, it DOES keep in the fridge! (I make ice cream every Fourth of July for around 80 people. I have never once found an ice cream recipe online that makes even close to a gallon.)
I love making ice cream in my machine and this is definitely on my to make list! I have push pop containers and I suspect this will taste like childhood in those! :-)
We already have Chocolate and Vanilla, here are the links: th-cam.com/video/UV44apOzy1Y/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/zYLIiJ79Tyc/w-d-xo.html Strawberry Ice Cream is coming soon.
I'm so happy to see this! 🍊🍦 I've got the same ice cream machine and rarely use it. Now I'm getting ready to try this one! Thanks for the refreshing idea!
I have a few orange and mandarin trees so will definately be giving this recipe a try. What type of Ice Cream Maker is that? I haven't seen that one in Australia. It looks so nice.

Thanks Stephanie! I was SO SO HAPPY to see this video then I got very SAD :( .... Firstly, I live in Italy and I have yet to find orange sherbert/ice cream in the stores or in Gelateria's, so I was thrilled to find this recipe. Then, I got sad because I don't have an ice cream maker! But, when I find a way to make this without one, I will! Thanks again!

Oh! The pan stand behind you. Where did you find it? Like Downton Abbey! Ive been looking for one a long time. If you please. Oh can't wait to make the ice cream! Thank ayou!
Where did you buy your icecream maker, also what is the make and model? Yum, would you be interested in making my favorite, pralines and cream if possible, or orange sherbet? Bluebell makes the best of both of these, but I'm sure yours would be way better! My husband and I have been watching yall from the beginning but, in your last several videos noticed a different kitchen, did yall move or did you just remodel the kitchen? Love all your recipes and recipes too also love everything you and your husband do!
Yes, we moved to Saint Simons Island Georgia about three years ago. I use a Maverick Ice Cream Machine. Actually my sons bought it for me many years ago. But here is a link to the one I have. amzn.to/2rkR8LI
I love all yr recipes, yr explanation waioo awesome Nd easy to understand. Can u plz make more other flavored ice creams plz...as easy as this recipe but with ice cream machines??? As I have made yr custard base ice creams but in that to many yolks used Nd whites at that moment r useless ...so plz do show recipes without eggs thanks... ☺☺☺
I'm surprised this works. I've made about 20 batches of ice cream since last summer so I have experimented a little. I thought you needed something to thicken up the ice cream base like either egg yolks (custard base) or corn starch. I'm planning on starting out with a standard French vanilla base, put it in the machine, and towards the end add about half a can of semi-frozen orange juice concentrate. Hope it turns out!
Hi ma'am, I'm curious, I don't have these so I'm wondering, would it come out right if I prepare the recipe and put it straight in a container and into the Freezer? It looks delicious, I can't wait to try it out and the weather is so right for ice cream now. Thank you ❤
If you don’t have an ice cream machine you can ‘still freeze’. To do this, use a shallow pan, preferably metal. Pour the mixture into the pan and place in the freezer for about 45-60 minutes, or until the mixture starts to freeze around the edges. Then take out of the freezer and give it a good stir, breaking up any ice crystals. Return to the freezer and continue this process until you have ice cream.
Stephanie, do you have any tips to prevent the ice cream from getting hard? I've tried a tablespoon or two of alchohol (Vodka or, in my case, Becherovka) and that hasn't really worked. A pastry chef I know said it had to do with the stabilizers, but I often make ice cream without a custard base as you have, using cream or coconut milk. Thanks for another cute video in which your top matches your dish :)
I've never tried using a stabilizer. What I do is to take the ice cream out of the freezer and place it into the refrigerator about 30 minutes before serving. That way it has time to soften.
I couldn't take my eyes off that dutch oven holder in the corner; I need one!! I don't have an ice cream maker. But I was wondering as an alternative, would the recipe work using condensed milk with heavy whipping cream instead?
Normally when not using my ice cream machine, I 'still' freeze. You put the mixture in a shallow pan, preferably stainless steel. Place in the freezer for about one hour, or until it starts to freeze around the edges. Take it out and give it a really good stir. Return to the freezer and, again, when it starts to freeze around the edges, take it out and stir. Keep doing this until it's frozen. Don’t you need to beat the cream until peaks form before “still freezing” it?
I’m guessing the cream didn’t curdle when adding the orange juice? Looking forward to trying this. Love your videos!

Oh boy! I’m a make this for my new Ninja Creami ice cream maker!
Can I use frozen juice once prepared per can instructions?
Yes, that should be okay.
I wonder if the slight grainy texture of the ice cream is because the sugar doesn't dissolve. Maybe heat some cream and add the sugar to it?
This type of ice cream is more like a sherbet which has a slightly grainy texture.
It work THANKS FOR YOU HELP :))!!!!
Can this recipe be made with a good quality 'not from concentrate' store bought orange juice, or does it have to be freshly squeezed?

can we make in stand mixer with padel attachment instead of ice cream machine
