I love the way you present, clear and concise. You remind me of an old instructor I had when I was in the Army Cadets, breaking down, cleaning and reassemble a Lee Enfield 303 rifle! Happy days
I tried using my mitre saw to do half laps but there is just too much play in the arms of my evolution saw. I now use a similar method, but with a track saw to hog out the bulk of the material as I find the depth a lot easier to control. it does mean I have to clean up the joint manually with a chisel. I also use the same method to cut halving joints too. Anything more fancy is too difficult for me and I leave it to pros like you. Great video as always and good to see the outtakes.👍
Great tutorial mate. I'll definitely look out your jig for the table saw. In the past I've used the table saw sled and trenched it like you did on the mitre saw, almost like blending the two methods together!
Great demonstration Karl👍🏼🙏🏼
Can't believe I've only just found you. Grreat watch, keep them coming (especially the outtakes)
Thank you Richard 😊
Excellent video as aways Karl. Presented and demonstrated perfectly. Getting Paul seller vibe 😎.
Oh and the outake gave me a good chuckle
Thank you Mikey that's awesome feedback.
The half-lap joint is a good strong joint that I ( and probably others) forget about and not too difficult to do with care, thanks Karl, regards, Fred
Thank you for this comprehensive instructional video.
Your welcome Pete 🙂
Great video, hoping to see you at maker central tomorrow. Got my eye on one of those beautiful spirit levels 😉

Cheers Paul, must be from my army days lol thanks for watching mate.
Great video Karl 👍
Cheers Keith 😀
3 very good fundamentals on ways to do half laps. Do you bother to use flat edge teeth on your blades for these joints? Great tutorial and video
Hi Steve I do have a flat tooth blade but only fit it to the table saw when cutting grooves and stub tenons on cabinet doors. Cheers mate
We all love a good joint. Half or otherwise.
Haha in our youth 😅

Hey Karl, great video, have you ever tried to make a half lap with a circular saw or a jigsaw? just asking as those are the tools I have. Thanks.
I have with a circular saw, definitely achievable mate. Just needs a little more set up and concentration to be accurate for me at least lol
