I want to dislike this but I can't. The discordant sound and off melodies haunt me and I don't like that but I still keep listening because I might gain something by confronting my fear. I don't need to understand everything in life to live it. Sometime music is there to put us off the edge.
The only reason people dislike is because William is not Layne. It’s like wtf do you want him to do, become a shapeshifter and turn into somebody he’s not? Besides he does an amazing job at filling in those shoes already. We love William. RIP Layne.
@@franzcamus29 Layne was one of the greatest vocalist of all time But Jerry has been the main person behind this band. Jerry has been the main Songwriter for almost entire of their songs,he is the one who has written all these crazy riffs, crazy solos over the years. He has been the main vocalist for almost entire of William's era,and Aic still sounds great even though they had some big shoes to fill. Sure Layne Staley was probably the most talented vocalist of all time, had he not been in Aic he would had found success anywhere but If the person who is the reason for what Aic is or like in your words the Soul of Aic is Jerry Cantrell..
@@chuckmcgill6673 sorry, I not agree. Jerry is a great composer, sure, and he composed almost all the songs.... But even jerry said that he never seen a talent like layne before he knew layne and he Will never see another like layne or near layne after his death.
@Cazz8203 You're welcome! It's my favourite Alice song, never thought I'd get to hear it live and I totally froze when I heard Jerry strumming those first few notes! Just glad I got myself together enough to hit 'record' :)
Jerry has continued to completely bypass my expectations and blowing my mind everytime especially when I have challenged how much he knew in his early days. I am an improv session type musician at heart and when I heard him in person once in the fly like almost 20 years ago he earned my respect right then and there. Way to go mate! Keep rockin' ... brought AIC back from the dead which was damn near what some said was impossible. This guy is a rock star!
This band deserves the rock and roll hall of fame, this is such an underrated album too. Such a good band. But i'm sure if greenday got in they will also be getting in soon. Same with pearl jam and soundgarden
I've seen Duval sing laynes part before and wasn't impressed. He gave it his all this time and nailed. This song will always be a tribute to Layne. God rest his soul.
I was their!!! What a great time this was. Good music, good friends, good times!!! FYI this was the first live performance of this song in close to twenty years.
I wish there was videos of Alice in chains performing this song when Layne was still performing... It would have been so legendary if they played don't follow during their MTV unplugged performance
that is so freakin beautiful....thank you soooo much for posting, I been playing this song for years and have never gotten the chance to hear it played live by AIC...I always wished this would've been played on the MTV Unplugged deal
This song....yeah....lots of shit in my life, glad to know someone else has your back...seriously. Lonely man's drinking music! Been rocking this since the day it was released. "Forgot my woman, lost my friends..." classic line. Yes, if they don't make it to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame that says something poor about the Hall of Fame, not Alice in Chains.
@cotesanchile thanks!! It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS3 (or TZ7 if it's the European model). Just a regular stills camera but takes good videos too, the perfect gig camera
I usually do not like Duvall but admit that he do it very well on the final part of "right turn" I think his voice combine more with Chris Cornell style than the Layne
It's funny, I never made the connection of sound and the physical appearance (let us say age) of an individual. Odd how the eyes dictate a person's interest when it come to music.
Such a great song. Too bad the audience was so loud they drowned out the music at times. I wish people would shut up at concerts so we can listen to the music we paid to see.
Whoever disliked this can have their ears cut off. Jar Of Flies is AWESOME. Such beautiful music.
IF there is a dislike to be had, it might be because I can find no live video of Layne doing this song! Someone send me a link!!

Sweet. Cantrell is certainly a great musician. Really, the leader of the band. Say goodbye, don't follow. Live your life, don't wallow.
layne had a gift in his voice....natural talent and he was the real soul of alice in chains, despite jerry's creativity

Dude, William's guitar in place of the harmonica works really well - he does a great job!

P.S. I want that black gibson. I love mine but I want a standard or a custom shop but flat black. Jerry send me your guitar man!
I miss laynes voice may he Rest In Peace ☮️ thank you jerry
Keep on rocking Jerry your the best
It don’t feel the same with out layne

They don’t have to be in rock and roll hall of fame to be validated.
Greenday are dog shit

Wish someone was playing the harmonica. One of thier best tunes. Thanks for sharing
Williams guitar solo was good.
An entire audience just whispering the words along. You can feel the pain as the audience sings Staley's part.
For real, I bet it was a whole crowd of people crying, I know I would be crying like a baby if they played this song live while I was there
Love the song. it gives me chills. it makes me think of my Son who passed away 18 months ago . He loved this song ❤️
My God, I love this song it always makes me cry. I could never tell him good bye!

Nailed it*
He always nails it. He’s not Lane but he’s damn good. One band that continues to put out bad ass music without their original front man.
Miss you layne, especially when your part comes in this song :/
what a great tune. gives me chills

Thanks for uploading this, and Right Turn. Never thought they'd play those live. Some of my favourite AIC songs.
all time fav AIC song. I could care less how old they are looking
Thank you very much, Sue. Thanks for giving us the chance to see that show so far.
If I were ever to play sad music at my funeral, this is the only one I would want.

Perfect video! thanks so much for posting it. I was at this show. best show I've ever seen in my life. This performance was flawless.
This song always touches me... 😔
Can't believe this was two years ago, such a great show!
checking in 2022
Beautiful, thank you so much for uploading.
I would kill if I had a tab to the little guitar riff William plays for the harmonica part.
Duvall sounds great hitting Laynes notes at the end.
Seeing them in VA today and I just wish they’d play this song!
I was at this show and it was awesome cant wait until april when they come to tulsa. I will make the show for sure.
Greatest band ever
One of my favourite AIC songs.
GOD what a find!
Love ya!
Well yeah, they've been rockin' out for 25 years! =)
one of the greatest nights of my life
Ya done a good job keepin' yourself together during your recording, Sue, look at poor Sean, he couldn't even keep still!
Cheers!
thanks sue! i wish i was there too!
so beautiful!!. RIP Layne!!!
thank you Sue!!!!!!!!!!

A fine tribute to Layne!!
Also, I think you're just seeing a lot of emotion of Jerry's face.
Man that's a nice guitar Jerry has love it!
Love this song
Wine gets better with age my friend, they sound as good as ever
so awesome
I miss you esp your wonderful voice, Layne... :(
Hermoso, como no Amarlos 💜💜💜
That's awesome.
Jerry Cantrell keep on rocking brother
When he was saying "pass me down that bottle" I think someone threw a bottle or something, as you can see him look and laugh at somewhere.
No Harmonica?
That would have been sick.
Sean just smoking a cig and relaxing until he's on.
Everyone gets old. You deal with it.
I’m not sure who’s cooler. The crowd or Jerry.
Jerry cantrell such a genius
I usually do not like Duvall but admit that he do it very well on the final part of "right turn"
I think his voice combine more with Chris Cornell style than the Layne
Here you see how damn good Duvall can sing, he only has problems with the part where Layne used his rasp!
I know I couldn't keep it together when the song started. For the second time, I had a beer with 'The Rooster' after the show.
it's ight, Neil young is from the 60s and 70s and he still rocks
It's funny, I never made the connection of sound and the physical appearance (let us say age) of an individual. Odd how the eyes dictate a person's interest when it come to music.
excellent location...congratulations...i want to be like you !!
what camera is it??
And that's my phone in the foreground.
no words :')
Such a great song. Too bad the audience was so loud they drowned out the music at times. I wish people would shut up at concerts so we can listen to the music we paid to see.
The radio to this day plays more AIC songs then any other band from that Era. That said im not a fan of their new shit.
its just a simple blues scale solo
damn ... they're getting old :(
saw them live a few yrs ago and was impressed, but the more i listen to laynes live recordings the more I dislike duvall.
