I had a very nice low mile white 1984 GTI that I sold in the mid 1990's. I sure do miss how simple they were and the fact that they had no power steering.

Only just seen. Well done on completing the restoration of your Rabbit GTI some time ago. It looks superb. The grill trim should be VW Mars Red, an orangey red which was also a standard body colour here in the UK and across Europe. Had my black 1983 Mk1 GTI since 1988 and love it to bits. It's standard apart from lowered Bilstein suspension and BBS 14" allots, a dealer option at the time before fitting to Mk2s. Thanks for reaching out. I realized later the red was the wrong color, but I didn't feel like redoing that difficult job lol. Your car looks awesome! The car has now moved on to the next owner who will use it more. I am now restoring a Rabbit Truck which I have newer videos on.
