You are so correct. I had never seen anyone handle an illness and probable death with so much bravery and grace. He was always more concerned more with how others were doing. He even left meaningful music for us. I still miss every single day. Thank you for the kind comment. Jeremy's dad
I used to be a gamer like you. Then a had three kids and a full time job. Now I let my kids enjoy the gaming. Awesome play throughs by the way. I enjoyed thoroughly reminiscing my childhood.
I'm sorry Saikyo has passed away...but he lived on with this helpful video. I was so lost and frustrated and his video helped so much ..I have even watched it as a movie with popcorn cheering him on I've seen it about ten times...I wasn't until today I read the comments... someone he didn't Know someone I'll never meet but he's considered my friend...😊
Jeremy would be so happy and gratified to read your comment. Helping folks enjoy the games was exactly what he wished for. I have gotten dozens of messages telling how he corresponded with people and helped them. He would consider you a friend also. Thank you so much for your kind comment. Jeremy's Dad
Oh no! I’ve watched this video about ten times as I’m learning all the tips and tricks of this game that I loved so much in my childhood. I had no idea the creator of this amazing video had passed away. Thank you so much Saikyo for the amazing videos you left behind. You will forever be helping others with the knowledge you left behind. Rest In Peace friend.
Certainly one of the most groundbreaking: it was (1) free-roaming, (2) able to save your progress, (3) a second quest after you beat it the first time, (4) beautifully orchestrated, (5) containing an inventory of weapons and items you could switch through, and I may be missing other things. Long live the Legend of Zelda! And rest in peace, SaikyoMog.
I'm an Argentinian teacher, a 33 year-old dude watching this video and learning both about your son's fight, and the love you all shared. And watching Zelda being played too. And I wanted to say Hi, and to tell you there's immortality after all. A toast!
Thanks, and yeah, quite a bit was put into this. I've had this game (the gold cartridge version even) since it first came out, so I had quite a bit of practice. I don't normally play the way you see in the video (I tend to do a few dungeons first and then go about snatching things up). But when I saw this one item guide, I thought I would base my video off it. I studied it, and drew on a map I found showing me the path I should take...In the end everything worked out.
Saikyo, you have some of the best online video game walkthroughs. I watched plenty of old games get played by you. Thank you! and may you Rest In Peace, Buddy!
If you type in Zelda for your name you can start the second quest first. All the locations are mixed around and presents more of a challenge for those that have beat the first quest. The dungeons in the second quest have walk through walls also in some of them.
This is one of my favorite games and I thank Jeremy for influencing me to become a gamer. Whenever I watch a video of his. I think of what life is like after his passing after 5 years and I can actually feel the pain of what it would be like if I were you. Love u Sakiyomog
Thank you for the heartfelt comment. Jeremy just wanted to be remembered, and I can not think of a better way to hear he is being thought of. Thank you so much. Jeremy's dad
I just discovered Saikyo today and already love his work. Getting cancer is one of my biggest fears, but watching those memorial videos and seeing how brave this man was makes me feel a lot better. I don't know you Jeremy, but man, I wanna let you know that you made a difference in someone's life. Rest in peace my dude. I hope you're having fun with your dogs up in heaven. To the father: I'm so sorry for your loss. You loved that boy with all your heart and I can tell as a complete stranger that you did a good job. You shouldn't have had to bury your own son, but I want to let you know you did a great job. You raised a fantastic person. My condolences.

If you do normal medical monitoring you should be safe. Jeremy's case was unusual. Thanks so much for your kind comment. God bless, Jeremy's dad
DAMN are you like a GOD or something!? You knew where hidden rubie and every possible wall blown up in every dungeon without messing up and didn't die or have to use your medicine potion. I died 9 times throughout the whole entire game. WOW.
Thank you! The next best thing to playing this is watching someone! I used to play it when it first came out and I was 23. Many long hours happily spent. I remember drawing maps in pencil of each of the level rooms in my spiral notebook. I died many times at first, until like you, I mastered it without dying and my Link icon had the sword to show that without all those numbers of doom. I know the gaming world has advanced drastically, but I will always treasure those times in the 80's playing Zelda and Mario for days on end. xo Edit: I just read of Jeremys passing. How very sad. I lost my son at age 23 and he was a master gamer. I started this very game at the age he would die. Life is hard. My condolences. :(
as a kid, i was young when i first got this game and loved every second of it, i remember finding the lost woods and couldn't figure out what to do, so found the first dungeon and found a compass, so I thought, yay, now i can make it through the lost woods and immediately left the dungeon and went back to the woods :D good times :)
Thank you for your kind and supportive comment. Jeremy was an incredible person. I have never seen anyone handle approaching death with as much courage and dignity. Right to the end he was more concerned with how those of us who loved him would deal with losing him. His only other concern was that he would be forgotten by the world. I still miss him so much every day. Comments such as yours help me believe he is still being remembered. Thank you so much for the RIP. Jeremy’s dad
It is so cool to see this and Zelda 2 played through! I beat both of them of course but when the 1st Zelda game came out I was 10 and literally lost interest in everything else! I think it's so cool how you let the title screen play on for awhile before you hit start! The music and everything else really take me back to my childhood! Thank you so much!
Really great walkthrough! Brings me back to my childhood. Although it took me months to beat this game, You did it in it a horrible and a half, Mad props!
NICE!!! I played this game so much. I could hear play it in my head and hear the music all day. lol I found secrets by dropping bombs and every wall and tying to burning every bush. THX for sharing.
when I hear that 8-bit melody in the beginning I marvel at how that song has stood the test of time. Since DAY ONE, that song has been the most iconic theme of one of the best franchises in the world today!
Always fun to re-live my youth with these walkthroughs. I like how you got as much as you could before starting the dungeons. The only thing I may have done differently, is instead of going from level 3 to the east end of Hyrule to get the heart container needed with the raft, you may have been better off just beating level 4 since it was close by, getting the ladder, and only needing one trip to the east end to get both heart containers including the one on the dock. Would have saved some travel time.
Your comment is perfect. Jeremy was not afraid of death, he just didn't want to be forgotten. He would be so happy to know you are still watching. Thanks so much. Jeremy's dad
This is a game I've been playing since it was new way back in the day. It also helped that I got everything I could before even entering the first dungeon. Being powered up always helps :P
I wish I had played this game as a kid. Now I'm 37 and finally getting interested in it but get so confused with that big map. Thanks for the video. It should help me finally get somewhere in the game.
THIS is 60:30, is going to FINALLY help me beat the game after a couple decades. The elusive Level 7, with the LAST piece of the Tri Force that prevented me from beating all those years ago.... Once I beat it, it will be in tribute & honor I will dedicate the win as I will forever be grateful & appreciative for this video....
I have watched and used this video as my guide when I played The Legend Of Zelda on my Gameboy Advance, which I just got on my 41st birthday almost ten days ago. And it just took me a week to beat this game on the main quest mode on my Gameboy Advance. Thanks, Jeremy SaikyoMog. Thanks for giving me the strength and wisdom to beat The Legend Of Zelda (regardless of any Nintendo console) for the first time in my life.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Jeremy would have been glad to hear that another fan of the older games had watched. Unfortunately, Jeremy is no longer here to help you, I wish he was. Hopefully someone out there will answer your question. Jeremy’s dad
What I find most impressive is that you seem to just blow through everything. Lost? Never. Puzzles? Easy. Enemies? Could care less. It's really quite cool to see somebody who doesn't get lost or have problems with anything.
I had this game since it was new (even had the gold cartridge...I think they came in different colors....) Anyways, this was a game I played a ton, Long before there was GameFAQs and other sites with guides, I blew up everything and burned all the trees I could to see if there was a secret there or not...Good times...I stick to the older stuff since I know it a lot better. I had to teach myself what to do instead of just reading guides or whatever if I got stuck...Doing it that way things tend to stick better in your mind....Or at least that's how it is for me... :P
SaikyoMog I guess that's true. I'm pretty good at some of the games I've been playing for along time too. I'm just terrible at games I haven't played before.
Yow, I forgot how weak to arrows those rabbit-head things are. A cool run of this series' start. Reminds me of how I never quite beat it as a kid. Between my cart's bugged saving and a time limit on videogames, I think I only got as far as dungeon 6 :P
Level 7was THE bane of my existence all these years since it the game first came out (that is how LONG I have tried to get THAT last piece of the Tri Force) as I had all the others except for THAT one. I COULD NOT f find my way through it...
Ah yes the gold cartridge. I also got it when it first came out, and my brother got ghosts and goblins. We were both too young to get very far in either game. When I was old enough to beat those types of games, I had already been spoiled by "Link to the past". I have never actually taken the time to beat this one. It is enjoyable to watch though. I never knew you could get so much before even the first dungeon! 8-]
I am sorry for his passing. He truly seemed like a great guy. I didn’t know his channel existed prior to his passing but I wish I had. Rest in peace fellow gamer.

VividMac101 I have try to set my tweeters and subwoofer thousands of times without success until I listen to the sound effects of legend zelda NES now my tweeters and subwoofer optimal settings and the sound effects I listened to is when link picks up the sword at the start I set my subwoofer with that sound and the first couple of seconds of the dungeon music I set my tweeters with that sound
This is my all time favorite nes game, I'm currently trying to beat the fifth dungeon but when i go to get the whistle i will run out of bombs to bomb the walls after fighting the dodongos, but this video has really helped me get through this game
Jeremy probably knew that, but I was not aware. It is hard to imagine Robin Williams ever sitting still long enough to play a video game. Thanks for the comment. Jeremy's Dad
R. I. P. Just want to say a big thanks for this. I finally beat the game just now. It was fun. This isn't a bad game once you figure out what to do. As a kid I didn't know what to do. Didn't have the net or game genie. That helped also. I pretty much watched this while I played the game at the same time. Not going to do the second quest. I will play Zelda II eventually. Need a Zelda break. I am done with this series after the second game. I pretty much did what he did.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Jeremy would have been glad to hear that another fan of the older games had watched. I thank you for the kind RIP. Jeremy’s dad
I have been thanked many, many, many times for not including commentary. And as I tell everyone who asks, you really don't want to hear me talk. I don't have a voice for radio. You don't want to hear my rather gruffy voice drabble on for hours (depending on the video). Given, if I were to, I wouldn't be talking 24/7, just at important bits....
i know it wasnt necessary, but geez you didnt like the boomerang huh? LOL. but i must say....you werent screwing around. i appreciate the walkthrough. i know most of the game but my only problem is actually getting thru level 9 to find gannon. im glad that you did this. thanx again :D
If you mean not screwing around as in getting all the hearts and items and whatnot I could before even going into the first dungeon, then yeah, I didn't screw around :P
jumbo grouper I was three when this game came out, and was allowed to play it the following year. I don't know how long, in a compressed time line like this, it took me to beat the game, but I went up to my brothers' room and played on and off for about four months before I beat it. I wandered around in the woods for a while and had no idea what to do. It was annoying, but not nearly as difficult as some of the newer, open-world-ish Zelda games.

I tried Zelda 1 again and again, but can't manage to find the first dungeon (without looking it up here), nor do I survive long because you can easily be beaten by the enemies. By far the worst Zelda I've ever played. Zelda 3 on SNES is the first Zelda I've played and it's the best game of all time!
It won't be my next one. It'll be a bit since I would need to draw out a new path on the map and so on and so forth to use while I play. Actually, my next game should be Legendary Wings for the NES.

That opening music is so Iconic love it. Long live the NES and Zelda!

Thanks Jeremy, now i have finished this game with your help. Rest in peace!
Jeremy would say your are welcome. I say thanks for the kind comment. Jeremy's dad
This is my all time favorite nes game, I'm currently trying to beat the fifth dungeon but when i go to get the whistle i will run out of bombs to bomb the walls after fighting the dodongos, but this video has really helped me get through this game
Some of these items are in Hyrule Warriors
If you walk in then back out of level 1 the first locked door opens and will not need a key. Great video, Peace to Jeremy and his family.
Sword makes same sound in the cartoon
Best video game music ever
RIP man, thanks for the Zelda video. Brings me down memory lane. :)
Jeremy would have been pleased to read your comment and know you enjoyed his video. Thanks for the kind RIP. Jeremy's dad
Hard to imagine the late Robin Williams playing this game and being a fan. Even naming his daughter after Zelda.
RIP i dident know he passed away till now we lost a gaming legend to soon.
I couldn't get around as well without a game genie when I used to play this.
just a nice relaxing indie game of the old times
Thanks , now I can fulfill my childhood dream... I'm half way there;)
Man I never had this till I was older
never undertood how to play this still confusing asf
It's a secret to everybody
It is
I was so afraid I wouldn't find a play through of the first game so...... thanks
Just bought a NES system, Zelda and should get the RF for my t.v. tomorrow. Can't wait. Metroid is next !
Good luck on the games! I downloaded them on my Wii U to play them again, don't regret it at all! Still suck at the 2nd Quest -_-
I have been thanked many, many, many times for not including commentary. And as I tell everyone who asks, you really don't want to hear me talk. I don't have a voice for radio. You don't want to hear my rather gruffy voice drabble on for hours (depending on the video). Given, if I were to, I wouldn't be talking 24/7, just at important bits....
now i wanna play it
Thnx for the memories buddy.
Im replaying the game and i gotta say Jeremy was a beast!!! Wow. Thanks Jeremy!!! #RIPJeremy
Jeremy would say you are welcome. I think he would smile at being called a beast. Thanks for making me smile. Jeremy's dad
i know it wasnt necessary, but geez you didnt like the boomerang huh? LOL. but i must say....you werent screwing around. i appreciate the walkthrough. i know most of the game but my only problem is actually getting thru level 9 to find gannon. im glad that you did this. thanx again :D
If you mean not screwing around as in getting all the hearts and items and whatnot I could before even going into the first dungeon, then yeah, I didn't screw around :P
ya definitely. i would have never thought of doing it that way but if you think about it, i think that in the long run, it would save time
Indeed...Quite nice to be prepared for the dungeons... :P
I remember playing it the long way where it took you the day just realize where the hell you're going.
My Dad played that in the 1980s and the game is on Nintendo Switch
It is dangerous to go alone! Taake this!!
This is crazy dude! Nice work.
the adventures are fun but the bosses are so easy my favorite part of a game is the bosses
The best😎💯🤘🏽
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Jeremy would have been glad to hear that another fan of the older games had watched. Jeremy’s dad
thanks for the Waklthrough :D
Rip Jeremy. Great playthrough
Thank you for the kind comment and wish. Jeremy's dad
I really want to know how long it took the first person to make it through the game without any help.
jumbo grouper I was three when this game came out, and was allowed to play it the following year.
Jeremy passed away 02/20/15. Everyone please see

Thanks this helped
0:58 RED RING!
How did I struggle so much with this game. Yeah it’s easy lol
And I never even made it past dungeon 4!!
R.I.P. Jeremy
I tried Zelda 1 again and again, but can't manage to find the first dungeon (without looking it up here), nor do I survive long because you can easily be beaten by the enemies. By far the worst Zelda I've ever played. Zelda 3 on SNES is the first Zelda I've played and it's the best game of all time!
thats cause you bad at the game keep practicting and it wont be so hard. plus zelda 1 is the bset zelda so dont even.
Really... in a way.. this is just as open-world game as BoTW is... so LoZ going back to its roots
That ending seizure though
I just got this game today
fun game
Thank you .
Glad I could help
It won't be my next one. It'll be a bit since I would need to draw out a new path on the map and so on and so forth to use while I play. Actually, my next game should be Legendary Wings for the NES.
Who else is watching this after the new release of the Switch/The Breath of the Wild game 🎮🎮🎮
Great job!
Been a little quicker if you used your boomerang to kill the bats
Can I use your footage for some videos I'm planning to do? I'll link your Channel under those videos as well.
Jeez, I can't even get to the point where I can buy a bomb. I keep dying pretty much right away.
nerdatheart94 That was me when I first got into the Legend of Zelda franchise
Indeed...
Really 💖'ed this run. Tnx 4 the upload. Great Job! 👏👍
