Zelda II: The Adventure of Link Video Walkthrough

  • This is a video walkthrough / playthrough / runthrough / etc of the NES game Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I think I find all the hidden dolls and p-bags. I'm pretty sure I got all the dolls, though I suppose there is a chance I missed one or two bags....Other than that, I think I did a good job.
This was a game I owned way back in the day. I remember when I finally was able to beat it, how much fun I had going through it all over again with the upgraded stats, killing the bosses in one hit...Muhahahahaha.....Was quite fun... :P

You're actively keeping part of his legacy alive and allowing others to participate in doing so. I never knew him, or his work while he was alive, but I feel that he's already added value to my own life through this channel. It may be an unfortunate thing, but in the context of your question I'd say what you're doing is a good thing. So, thank you both and my condolences.

I never knew how to beat this game. This game never told you where to go. In Mario Brothers, after you beat one level it takes you to the next. With this game I just walked around the forest not knowing where to go until I just stopped playing the game. I never beat Zelda I or Zelda II.

Just for the record.....I liked Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Nope really. I got it back in the day and like most was hoped for the Zelda sequel, as I started to play my enthusiasm and excitement decreased until I was like.....WTF? But I didn't have much else back then so I persisted, and persisted and started progressing more and more to the point where I actually started to enjoy and look forward to my next play sessions. I completed it and had a feeling of satisfaction. I know many hated it but I feel in the end it was time well spent.

I LOVE Zelda games. All of them that I've played. The story, the characters, the consistent game play mediums...but for some reason, they make me feel so sad and lonely, ESPECIALLY this game. I don't know why. Like...Link never gets anything, no love, no real friends, no home, no family. Just...wanders around and struggles for people - in such terrible conditions. It's so sad to me. There's just something so ...mysterious about these games to me, but they make me feel depressed and nostalgic.

More games werw inspired by this game than the original Zelda.
Battle of Olympus, Rambo, River City Ransom, and some spin-offs of Final Fantasy were clearly inspired by this game.

I was born in '91 and my first Zelda experience was Ocarina of Time. I've since played and beaten all of the Zelda games made since then. A few years ago I got the gamecube special Zelda disk and played Zelda 1 and Zelda 2. Zelda 1 was hard as hell, but I beat it and enjoyed it. Then I tried to tackle Zelda 2......... And couldn't get past the 2nd dungeon... That game is too dang hard... I was patient with it for a few weeks and then threw my hands up in frustration and gave up. I must have died atleast 1,000 times in that 2nd dungeon. I have no doubt that I would have eventually beaten it if I had tried, but it got to the point where it wasn't even fun anymore. Zelda 2 went way overboard with the difficulty.......... There's rewarding difficulty that's hard enough to challenge you and gives you a sense of accomplishment when you beat it and then there's bang your head against the wall and yell every cuss word in the book difficulty.... Zelda 2 is that times ten....... The sad thing is it could be a great game if they remade it and toned down the difficulty just a tad and tweaked the upgrade system a bit.

Great with the positive, now is time to see the negative of this game :
-You can so easily lost without any guides and some NPC are useless to talk. At least, this is really nothing compared to Castlevania 2 : Simon's Quest.
-When you get a game over, (Lost all your lives.) you lost not only your exp points, but you return right in the beginning point instead to spawn in the beginning of the Palace. Like you're need to walk all over again the road to return in the palace. (Except of the Great Palace, thanks god.)
-The difficulty spike can be so high and he can be so unfair. (Eventually when you go to Death Mountain for find the hammer or the last road before the Great Palace.)
In a good word, this game can be so frustrating, but at least is not impossible to beat. Without his defaults, this game was be good because Nintendo did atleast try a another formula with the franchise and it was not bad at all.

If you want an even easier time, play the Famicom DIsk System version. It'll be in Japanese, but there's a few differences that make it quite easier (I have a video of it up if you want to see...) Some enemies that require fire to kill don't which is nice, and when you level up, you can choose whatever the heck you want instead of having to save up a certain amount of points. In the other video, I level up my attack a bunch and breeze through the game :P
