    My grandmother made some knitted versions of this for my mom in the 50s! (With *very* scratchy wool). I can't wait to make this with a softer yarn and give it to her. She'll love it.

      Try alpaca fleece! ;) Synthetics smell weird and will make you too warm and make your hair staticky.

    Thanks for this video! My aunt asked me if I had a pattern for a hat like this, but I could find only a knit pattern. I fudged it in Tunisian so she would have a hat. Now I can make another for her! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 😀👍👍👍

      Can ya make mine with two or three layers? Ever since I was in Duluth Minnesota waiting for the primary school bus one mornin', in -74°windchill weather that was whipping up to be a blizzard later - which actually buried our three-story School to halfway of the third floor windows* - I really don't like the cold or blustery winds. I didn't get home until 9:30 that night. All the people in charge of such jobs, had to get the snow plows out on extra duty to clear roads to all schools and to the bus barn, as well as dig out any other schools that got buried.
      * Now that I'm grown, I'm thinking, maybe that was only on the windward side where the snow made a huge drift against the building, but they did say they had to dig us out. Once again, maybe that's the case, and that, coincidentally, is where a main entrance to the school is/was. I do remember leaving through the double doors where I always entered the school. Now I'm wondering about the fire code safety rules about egress/ Escape Routes. Whenever we had fire drills we always went out those doors. Surely those were not the only doors? What do I know I was in 3rd grade, and was governed every minute.

      In case of fire, jump out the window and into the snow! I know in harsher climates, everybody has to "suck it up", but it does sound like somebody goofed. You guys should have been off!

I love the way it comes over the ears and will keep the ears warm. It's great for riding in a car with the top down too. I'm going to make myself a few of these. Thanks for sharing this pattern.

    I remember having one of these headbands/hats made with a very soft and somewhat fuzzy white yarn (angora, maybe).
    P.S. when doing BLO ribbing, I always go through both loops on the first and last stitch for a better looking finish.

    I think I'll just call it an earwarmer... because that's what it is. The cool thing about it is that you can add an extra layer inside it because, usually, knitted or crocheted ear warmers are never enough if they are a single layer.

  • @PrincessFidelma
    @PrincessFidelma 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The result of that stitch is so pretty, I'm not sure if I've seen it before (I'm not a big crocheter).
    When I started knitting I got a big bag of yarn in a charity shop, the wrappers said it was DK weight, when I next bought DK yarn it was like half the thickness!!! Discovering Wraps Per Inch was mind blowing, I now only measure in WPI and I can't help thinking yarn would be easier to pick/understand if the wrappers had the WPI, too, as it would override all the international yarn weight names.

    This one brought back a memory: I may make mine with three layers thick at the ears. Ever since I was in Duluth Minnesota waiting for the primary school bus @ 7 a.m. one mornin', in -74°windchill weather, no less, that was whipping up to be a blizzard later - which actually buried our three-story School to halfway of the third floor windows* - I really don't like the cold,or blustery winds. Maybe they dug out the main double doors because there's a huge concrete Monument of a patio and a gazillion steps to get up to the main floor. A lot less snow to dig through at that place. What do I know I was in 3rd grade, and was governed every minute. I do remember they had a fire truck out in front of the building spraying the fire hose at the porch, cuz it was right underneath my third floor classroom window. I guess they watered it until it was clear of snow and then salted it so that it wouldn't freeze up on us.

It was made out of mostly I think red heart yarn but when red heart yarn was a little bit cheaper grade. than it is now Not quite as soft. as some of the red heart yarn is nowadays.
