    I got one of these back when it was released. I love it, I use it all the time. With the CITRIX app I can connect to my work computer and with the remote desktop feature I can connect to my desk top when away from home. This lets me play table top simulator while away from home with friends and family while on the road.
    Other than that it is just nice to be able to fit so much of a book on the screen.
    I love it and consider it a 5 star device, though I think the 9+ is a better size and when it is time to upgrade in a few years I will likely go with the + size.

  • @SiBai-
    @SiBai- 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    I bought a S9 Plus with a $600 trade-in of a Tab S8 that i bought used last year for $400. They also threw in a Tab A9+ completely free, so I basically paid a total of $400 (post tax) for a tablet upgrade and a free budget tablet.
    There's actually a surprisingly noticeable step up in performance considering it's just one year newer, especially in gaming. I'm really liking it so far, especially with the extra bit of screen real estate.
    Btw, have you considered just using a folding bluetooth keyboard and a regular, slimmer case instead of one of those keyboard cases? I find I don't always need to use the keyboard, so being able to pack away a tiny keyboard only for when I need it to be nice.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for sharing! Yeah a case like that is a good option. The benefit of the Dexnor is that you can take the keyboard off entirely and only carry it with the tablet when you know you'll need it. I put s tempered glass on the front anyway so it's pretty protected. I also don't love folding keyboards. But I do really like using a Samsung Outdoor Cover with my Galaxy tablets and using a Bluetooth keyboard like an mx keys mini. Those are my 2 things I like to use. But everyone is different. Thanks for commenting and giving people more options. I'm all about it

  • @christopherreid3253

    This tablet is a beast, been using it since just before launch date!!! It does everything you need and more. I have the keyboard cover as well and can't replicate the issue you were having when typing the "u" in "you" over and over. I'm wondering if you have a defective keyboard. I had a defective one for months as my keyboard would randomly disconnect. I went through three exchanges in order to get my problem resolved. It was quite the process but they allowed it and now I'm quite ecstatic.
    Thanks for the awesome video! Keep them coming!

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have to type it extremely quickly. In Google Docs especially. It never happens when I type slow. But if I fly through typing, like 100 wpm style, it always misses the u, or at least 75% of the time. I've had this issue with the Tab S9, S9 Plus, S8, S8 Ultra, and so on. Again if I slow down intentionally, no problems. Only when I'm speeding through.
      Either way, I'm happy you aren't having the issue, because without that, I'd be loving the keyboard cover a lot more! The Dexnor isn't perfect either, the touchpad is actually pretty bad on it. So I turn it off. That's why I mentioned that even in my sponsored segment, always have to keep it real.
      Happy you got it replaced though, and happy it's working well for you!

    Okay, followed you over here from the other video. Thanks for the update. Also, thanks especially for the Dexnor review. I was looking at that and wondering about its quality.
    Here's a suggestion for another video: what you omitted here is that leftover new stock of the S8 Ultra can be had for as little as $650, or $575 refurb.
    I'm going with the S8 because the dialed up features of the S9, while they look great, are of less consequence to me than saving 40% off of the list price.
    You might want to do a pros and cons video of new versus last year's stock versus refurb.
    Anyway, great job, thanks for the heads up on these products.
    Edit: no sooner that I post this then I watched the last few seconds of your video. My bad. I really should watch these things all the way through before opening my big mouth.

      LOL! Yeah. Funny comment. I love it. Thanks for watching all the way through, 19 minutes was tough for me.
      And The Dexnor is great. Just lower quality touchpad. I turn it off and enjoy everything else about it.
      I will say I'm selling my S9 Ultra (admittedly, very scratched up on the screen 😂) for $580 on Twitter (@DigestAndroid). But if looking in mint condition, yes, you will save a few hundred. But a little more wear and tear on an older model and missing some features. If you want the size though, the S8 Ultra is great, and you won't miss too much. But there's value either way. Either you get more updates, a newer device, slightly faster with slightly more brightness, all with the S9 Ultra. Or you'll get something with 90% of the features and save some hundreds. Either way you'll be set

      @@AndroidDigest have you used any screen protectors? Any recommendations?
      I don’t tend to use them and don’t usually have problems with my phones or tablets. But this thing is huge and expensive.
      I’ve also found many reviews of tempered glass protectors that are fragile and crack while you’re trying to install them, and that don’t last long.
      Lastly, the reviews of the Invictus series gorilla glass tend to suggest you don’t need one.
      Have you done a video about this yet? Thank you!

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      For me, I've got a few things I like to use. The Samsung book cover keyboard is nice overall but a little expensive. The Dexnor keyboard cover is a good alternative, the trackpad is pretty bad but I turn it off and use a Bluetooth mouse. But those options are both a little heavy for a tablet.
      Another one of my favorite options is the Samsung Outdooe Cover. Because you can carry your tablet by the kickstand, it almost acts like a briefcase, and you can just bring a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse separate when you want to use DeX or get productive.
      I also like to have a usb c hub so I can connect to a monitor or if I want to connect other things to the tablet. Anker is a good brand. Hopefully these things help

But either way, appreciate the follow. And like I said in the video, sales are pretty fequent. Best Buy Open Box deals are terrific, especially if you want "excellent condition". As long as you buy open box BEFORE they take the display units off the shelves. When they make those open box, they often have screen burn. That's why it's a better time to buy now, before the S10 comes out.
      Anyway, appreciate the sub! More tablet content coming. Tab S9, A9+ updates, and then The Lenovo P12 and then some more Android phones

    Have you tried to use the tab s9 as an external monitor with third party apps like superscreen or duet screen and if so, how is the experience when connected to PC/PS5 (I think both alllow 120hz) in terms of gaming or latency?

    • @AndroidDigest

      I haven't. It's great as a second screen when connected wirelessly. Wired in, I don't notice much latency if I wire up to a monitor. I think latency is fine wired in. But again, that's for monitor use. Haven't ever tried to use other apps to play ps5 through it. I'll be very curious to see if anyone else has had that experience. Would love to know how it works. Just haven't tested those things yet.

    Are there 3rd party keyboards that use the pins? Don't really want to also have to charge a keyboard. What's the battery life like on the Dexnor, and how fast does it reconnect when you start typing?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No. Samsung has those patented I'm guessing. No other keyboards use the pins. I don't start typing right away if it's been asleep. It's supposed to last for two weeks of continued usage. But I haven't had to recharge it and it's been over a week. A good amount of usage. It may be 3 or 4 weeks of pretty good usage for a recharge. But it's 4 hours to recharge it. To give an idea. According to amazon. It's got great travel. Great backlighting. A poor touchpad but I use a Bluetooth mouse anyway. I enjoy it. But it's not perfect. I keep it real even if they sponsor me. I think the $350 model is pretty flawed so I'm happy to accept a flawed $150 model that's cheaper with coupons.

      Thanks for sharing your experiences. For me I drop a little more. I know some battery tests, on 150 nits of brightness, on those tests people were getting 9 to 10 hours. Practically I'm keeping my device on higher brightness. So I'm closer to 7 hours. But updates have made the battery life maybe a little better than those initial tests from websites. Hey, sorry for the multiple posts... one other note about the tablet size: I travel a lot and prefer to download content for offline viewing, which you increasingly are not permitted on a Windows device. Vudu, Max, others only permit downloading to mobile devices. I started to get a Chromebook, but then I either have a typical laptop build (which can be problematic if the person seated in front of you reclines... grrr) or a 2-in-1 build where the keyboard is folded beneath. Either way, unless I bought the original tomato red Samsung Chromebook with its 4k OLED screen, I would have a significantly less brilliant display and more cumbersome device for 90% of my use scenario.
    But when it's time to go to work, I'll need an ample-sized screen. To me, this thing really isn't all that big. Sure, it's a giant tablet but it's an average-sized laptop screen, fits easily on a tray table (w/out the keyboard), espec angled in the drawing position, laying more flat on the table rather than upright.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      This is very good. With the keyboard cover it's actually bigger than a laptop. Because the kickstand AND the keyboard take room. On the other hand, if you don't have the keyboard attached it can be MUCH smaller and fit into tight spaces. You're dead on

      Only a pity that Galaxy Tablet's S series have only 3 years of big Android updates.
      Tablets can be use much longer as smartphones.
      My first and last tablet was Galaxy Tab S Note 12.4. I bought it in 2014 and used almost 6 years. But got only one big Android update. With Tab S10 Ultra Samsung could extend big updates to 5 years as at S24 series. But isn't officially. With this I can wait.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That's tough. Remember the S10 may not be out until next year. January or February is an estimate. Now we have sales. So you may end up spending an extra $300. If you're in the US you can find it mint condition, and if you pay $800, or $750. That's okay, because Samsung may give you $650 to trade it in anyway next year. So you will have options. If you want it new, the question is, should you take it now for like $300 cheaper? The S10 Ultra may have a price hike. It is rumored to be another phone chip, Snapdragon Gen 4 or something. Maybe you will get a less reflective display. Is that worth $300? If you always want the latest maybe you wait. But this is a good time to buy this tablet, you will get your discounts, 6+ months of usage, and you still paid less than the S10 Ultra so you save money.
      But it depends on the person

    I love the S9 Ultra! However due to scaling, the apple ipad pro 13, and also the s9+ actually shows the same amount of content as this despite being much smaller. The apple also is far brighter sustained and peak, and in terms of actual performance like editing 4k multi layers, I would trust the m4 or even m2 over it. S9 is awesome though, the sideloading, microSD, etc. :)

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You can change the display size of items on your screen. I agree that the iPad is better. For sure, I'm Android to the core but I won't argue that. For those on the Apple side they have a definite treat. Here, I'm trying to explain who this is for: those who want that screen size, or those who want sideloading, microsd cards, a pen in the box, etc. The S9 Plus is the value play compared to the iPad for those reasons, and the Ultra is a little extra for more screen size if you want it.
      iPad is great this year! I love the competition.

    You really should turn off TH-cam ambient mode for fullscreen video playback demos

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      The ambient mode is irrelevant, the reason the video isn't full screen is because the aspect ratio of the tablet doesn't allow it to be completely full screen. There's going to be a small amount of bars unless you zoom in, and whenever you zoom in, you're missing some of the video at that point and the quality also decreases. I would rather show with the actual viewing and experience will be like, and it also allows me to show off the actual aspect ratio and the bars that you should expect without zooming. That's my personal preference. But I get why you would want to see full screen since you use it that way yourself

    I had the Tab S8 Ultra and M4 iPad Pro 13" together for a week and I returned the iPad
    Pro almost immediately. It's a powerhouse, but with stale OS. Tab S8 Ultra offers more flexibility with creative and workflow.

      Not really. But remember, this is not a cell phone. So it's not going to have anywhere close to the quality of pictures as you're going to get from an actual phone. Plus it's a larger screen, so you're viewing the photos on this ginormous screen, so they're going to look even worse quality than they would looking on a smaller phone

      It shouldn't matter at all that it's refurbished. Especially at this point. Maybe a refurbished Tab S7 or S8 would have issues. But you're pretty likely to get a good option here since it's still fairly recent.

      I would recommend this or the Tab S9 Plus though. This is the ultra beefy model, the S9 Plus is a little bit more portable, but still big enough.

    Nice video promoting the S9 but if Samsung wants to compete with apple they need to drop the price, i have an M1 ipad pro that will run circles around the S9 and it is a first gen M processor. Samsung should stop pricing the S9 like it's an iPad Pro and compete by making the S9 affordable

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      This is where we would disagree a little bit. And you need to know, I highly promote the iPads. My channel is Android Digest so I don't really talk about them much, but for those people who need that extra power I definitely recommend they go to Apple.
      But I think the idea that the m1 iPad runs circles around this is just not true for an average everyday user. Users are not running benchmarks or doing video rendering tests on a daily basis. They are going to Hulu, Netflix, they are surfing the web, even if they push their tab to more intense stuff like gaming, you can still game on almost every single game on the highest settings on this tablet. So what can you really do on an m1 iPad that you can't do at the same exact speed here? Almost all of those tasks are lightning fast. So you can't just compare an m1 iPad Pro from years ago, which is discounted due to age, you can't just compare that to a Galaxy Tab.
      If you're in the Apple ecosystem, by all means, I get that iPads do have more power for the money and if that's something you care about Or if you feel like you will notice that power, absolutely, I recommend it to you. And if you're all in on the Apple ecosystem, I would recommend going with a m1 or M2 iPad anyway because they are such a good value and they have more than enough power for pretty much everyone. So I'm actually with you 100%.
      But when you have smartphones on Android, or tablets on Android, that are so fast at every app that they open, They are so fast. On a daily basis I wouldn't even notice a single millisecond of a difference personally between this and an m1 iPad Pro. Or even an M3 or an m4. Day to day stuff you do on a tablet you just don't notice those differences, once you get as fast as something like a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Gen 3 You're not going to notice these gigantic differences even if the benchmark show that. Because you only take advantage of those differences and very very extreme use cases.
      In the end I think you are comparing apples to oranges, a ton of people out there don't want iPads, there's a ton of people that won't consider iPads at all because they want to stay on the Android ecosystem. For those people, this will be the flagship tablet for them. There's no need to constantly compare to Apple because most people on Android tablets just wouldn't even want to consider an iPad, they wouldn't want to split up their ecosystem.
      Also, you're missing a lot of the advantages. Of course Apple has always had the advantage with processing power, at least recently, but what about Samsung having 120 Hz on their tablets and on their phones for several years before Apple? What about having OLED and amoled screens way before Apple? What about the fact that this comes with an SD card slot, or what about the fact that this comes with the stylus? These devices are already hundreds of dollars off, they come with a stylus that saves you like $100 compared to Apple, they come with Samsung dex which is arguably way better than stage manager, and they come with SD card storage, which could save you hundreds and hundreds of dollars because that's how Apple makes money, they force you to upgrade storage by not allowing an SD card slot.
      Even over the m1 iPad Pro, you would still save money buying a Galaxy Tab. You would also get a lot of advantages. So I don't really agree with your argument. And again, I don't think the processing power is as important as all of these other things. But maybe this to you. Or maybe the app will ecosystem is that important to you. That's completely fine. But it doesn't make these tablets a bad value and it doesn't make them invalid. They are still tremendous values on Android especially with all the sales.

    Samsung needs to offer a 'magic keyboard' for their Galaxy Tabs ... at least the plus and ultra models.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would LOVE that. Dexnor has a magic keyboard alternative for the S9 Plus. It's great, minus the trackpad. But I just use a Bluetooth mouse, and I use that trackpad space as a nice palm rest. It's a great keyboard cover, it even has backlighting. Still can't compare to a really really nice magic keyboard though

      @AndroidDigest  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      First off, I am absolutely in love with all of those laptops. But it's just a completely different thing. Tablets don't have a big keyboard to bring around with them all the time, this screen will be better than almost all of those Snapdragon devices, at a cheaper price, and even the speakers will be better. It will also be easier to do a lot of basic tasks, and easier to browse on with touch screen. So it really depends on what you're wanting to do

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Oh yeah. You can definitely get productive on the tab S9. I'm not saying you can't. I was actually meeting with someone fairly recently, and I didn't want to take something big and bulky, so I took the tablet so I wouldn't be distracting and I was able to type up a ton of stuff right in front of someone. You can definitely get a lot of productive work done especially with the right tools.
      I was mainly referring to the fact that it's just harder to get more work done with a smaller screen. Not only can you see less on the screen, but the keyboard cover, if you buy a keyboard cover, those are obviously going to be smaller. You can avoid that by buying a Bluetooth keyboard, but my point is the size of the tablet does actually matter for productivity. So that's why I say that, yes, you can get a ton of productive work done on the Tab S9, but a bigger screen would typically help accomplish that a little better and a bigger accessories. But it doesn't mean you can't make the tab S9 a productivity powerhouse. I was just saying that the other tablets might be better suited for that function
