The strongest defensive team I have ever seen with a magical coach like Daly , he controlled them, identified their power and used it , discover their weakness and find a way to cover for it ... All that was translated to two championships ... I'm an MJ fan and I hated their style but when I look at it now it was the commitment and the trust between them that made them a championship team
Yup and that's why Riley adopted that style of play when the Lakers played the Pistons in the 80's and made sure the Knicks and Heat played defense that way.
Are you kidding me - No player ever did more with less natural talent than Laimbeer , He could not run , could not jump , but he led the league in rebounding a couple of seasons , All positioning and technique when you can't jump , He ran the pick and roll as good as any player that ever played the game , He could bust the hell outta dem 3 pointers also , Killer free throw shooter , Clutch player for his team , 4 time all star , 10,000 points and 10,000 rebound club - Ain't to many players in that club. Just cause you didn't like his style of play does not mean that he could not play...Because he damn sure could - He played his role on his team to PERFECTION - 2 championships , He also coached a couple of championship teams in the WNBA.

You're either too young to remember or a diehard Pistons fan. The point of assembling the Dream Team wasn't about tryouts. They made the team because they were one of the 11 best players (plus Laettner) in the United States (and the world) at that time. Laimbeer incorrectly claimed there could have been 3 players from the Pistons who could have been selected to the Team, but realistically only Isiah had a chance.

The only class Laimbeeer owed anyone was how he conducted himself with his team mates. Ultimately, hurting his friend Isiah Thomas in practice, and Laimbeers shame of having done it, was why Bill retired from the NBA. I think that covers the 'class' and 'character' charge.

They did not want Detroit in the Finals or as NBA Champions. 30 for 30....Lakers players admitted Detroit was robbed of a 3rd Title by NBA officials with phantom calls and non calls that handed the Lakers a crucial game and the Series. Lakers laughingly took the "NBA gift wrap" title anything to keep the Bad Boys off the podium.

Issue with Laimbeer is him intentionally looking to hurt players by sticking his foot under them when they went up for jump shots. That is not principles - that is disgraceful behaviour on the basketball court.
He did it regularly, Bird specifically mentioned it in a TV interview. Nothing was off limits to Laimbeer in his pursuit of victory, he abided by no code. It is partially what made him a great player, but he paid for it by being blacklisted for an NBA head coaching job, he is absolutely hated by so many people.

I felt the Pistons as a team not congratulating the Bulls at the end of the ‘91 Eastern Conference Finals was wrong, but I understood why. Jordan totally disrespected and dogged them in the media before the series started. It was clear the Bulls were better and instead of letting their play solely do their talking they verbally trashed the Pistons. Never have I seen a team treat a defending champion with such disrespect. It’s only later that Jordan admitted the Pistons forced him to get stronger, making him the player he would eventually become.

It was wrong and was not done before Jordan did it. Pistons were fined and suspended for any plays that crossed the line. Even with that they were still dominant from ‘88-‘90. To say they won because of dirty play takes is obviously not true (the team was talented and physically tough), but was an excuse for teams that were not ready or able to overcome them at the time.
Albert you and I can agree to disagree. But there's a significant difference between physical play and dirty play. But I think Jordan, Phil, Pippen, Bird, Ewing, Parish, Cartwright, Barkley, Oakley, Rambis, Kareem and many more NBA players would say that the Pistons were dirty. All of the aforementioned players had "altercations" with the Pistons that stemmed from their dirty plays.
When the Bulls were no longer susceptible to the Pistons play, they beat them. There's enough YT clips out there with Pippen and Jordan taking the high road when the Pistons would try to instigate. But again, we can agree to disagree.

The first article is not from 1991. It's an opinion piece written years later. So scratch that one. And no, there's no proof they whined "daily".
In the second article, which part of what Jordan (and Phil) said is disrespectful? The Pistons had spent the last 3 years trying to physically harm Jordan and to a lessor extent the rest of the Bulls. He expressed an opinion on their style of play to which there is lots of evidence that it's accurate and also had concurrence from other players around the league at that time. Certainly Bird and Parish had their physical altercations with Laimbeer, not to mention many others. It's just a case of the Pistons not being able to accept defeat and the reality that their style of play was dirty.
How old are you? I'm 56. Anyone from Chicago will attest to those media jabs before the 91 eastern conference finals. The Pistons were already down 0-3, but both Phil and Jordan took it too far when they went to the press ( Print and TV) to whine about the Piston style play.. The Piston's never whined to the press and the officials when the Celtics were bouncing around for 4-5 years. Laughing all the way. The Celtics taught the Pistons the rough style Eastern Conference.. Just like Chicago learned from Pistons. When Pat Riley got the Knicks job in 92, he assembled a Eastern conference juggernaut with some the rough and toughest guys who's ever played the game. Riley assembled that team to match up against the Bulls. Even more, after Jordan came back from baseball, the Bulls were no match the Young tough Shaq led Orlando Magic... Being a Lakers fan and of Jordan, I loathed Laimbeer's antics and his unapologetic arrogance, but as I've grown older, I've come to respect the way he played. His contributions to that Piston team was very much integral during that championship run. He took ass-whippings (with exception to Brad Dougherty) to help his team win. He's the type of player you don't find in today's finesse league.
