@MegastarLV the show did come back in the 90's there is no offical word form what I heard that will do another series of Hollywood Squares. This was the offical closing theme of the show.
I prefered this 80s version of The Hollywood Squares to the Marshall version and the Bergeron version. I loved the theme song, the set, the bonus round, and the logo sign,...
For the last season in 1988-89, WPIX Channel 11 had this on at 6:30 p.m. weeknights right after the remake of The Gong Show at 6 p.m. After a while WPIX moved TNHS to 12 noon I believe, then if I'm not mistaken, something like 9 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. weekdays.
For the first season, WTVQ and WLKY carried the show (the latter of which aired right after Wheel of Fortune), for the second season, WAVE 3 carried it (as a lead-in to The $100,000 Pyramid (later Win, Lose or Draw), The New Newlywed Game and The People’s Court) and for the third season, WDKY carried it (as a lead-in to Wipeout, hosted by the late Peter Tomarken).

@MegastarLV, no telling they done 3 versions of the show. If this does come back you have to have Tom Bergeron host it again he did a good job as host last time, so he might be back. The only question is who will be center sqaure this go around.
@darkpowrjd The worst place for the audience (IMO) was probably the Tom Bergeron version because besides the fact that you could see the grid perfectly (which was a good thing, at least), the audience could only see the back of the contestant area (some had to lean as far as they could to the right).
@MegastarLV John Davidson was quirky, but he actually fit the show. It went downhill with Whoopi and all these new clowns. Only thing I didn't like with the Davidson show was Joan Rivers.
I love this version of Hollywood Squares, mainly the bonus game where you can win a Car, I prefer this concept more than the 2002 version where you pick 1 of 9 keys "eliminate some of them if you agree or disagree correctly"
cutemimi25 The Car Bonus Game was taken from Rick Rosner's Just Men! with Betty White and it was a good concept and also, Rosner is best known for Creating the Popular Cop Comedy-Drama "CHiPs" with Larry Wilcox, Robert Pine, Randi Oakes (Mrs. Gregory Harrison) and International TV Icon Erik "Ponch" Estrada R.I.P. to Joan Rivers, God Bless Her Sweet Soul
Tom was great. especially considering he like Peter Marshall before him had no prior game show experience (Bergeron came from talk and magazine shows, Marshall was a stage actor/singer) IMO Bergeron is tied with Marshall as best Squares host, Davidson was a good host, nice affable but sometimes seemed like Guy Smiley at times. And as for John Bauman, hes better panelist than host. he tried his best but when you aint got it, you aint got it.
Nope, Shadoe only announced the first four years of Bergeron's version, which Jeffrey Tambor and Henry Winkler sharing the announcing duties for the fifth season and John Moschitta, Jr. announcing the final season.
Actually Dana is partly right He returned one week as guest announcer on H2 (the post Whoopi era) in the last season during the Game Show Legends week. (It was the only time Shadoe appeared on camera on Bergeron's version)
Looking at that set, a few things puzzled me. 1. How in the hell did the contestants get up to and down from that area. I'm sure there's probably steps behind them, but I could never really figure it out as a child. 2. That had to be the WORST place for an audience to be placed. Imagine the sore necks because they were trying to see the contestants from that weird spot almost directly above and to the left of the audience!
The first season aired on WTVQ as a lead-in to The Facts of Life and on WLKY immediately following Wheel of Fortune, the second season aired on WAVE 3 as a lead-in to The $100,000 Pyramid, The New Newlywed Game and The People’s Court and the final season aired on WDKY as a lead-in to the short-lived Peter Tomarken-hosted Wipeout.
This version was going along well until they messed with the endgame. Instead of a 1 in 5 (then 1 in 4, 1 in 3, etc) chance to win a car, it was one in nine no matter how long the champion stayed on. That's when I lost interest in it, at least.
I actually don’t remember changing the endgame. I always recalled a 1 in 5 chance and every day you remained champion, your odds increased to 1 in 4, etc.
This is Shadoe Stevens for The New Hollywood Squares. Due to a technical issue, the car end game was replayed and the program edited for broadcast.

Thank you, Shadoe Stevens! Welcome to the New Hollywood Squares! So glad you could be with us on this Wednesday! Hello Squares! (Celebrities: Hi John!)
This version of "Hollywood Squares" is the reason why I grew up with this show. I first saw the show when I was one in 1986.
I was born September 6th of 86
I used to love the way Shadow Stevens introduces the stars at the beginning of the show.
I didn’t know until recently that his brother Richard Stevens was a temporary announcer for this show while Shadow was out filming a movie.
I remember when Shadoe was the center square near the end of this version's run.
@@fhb3I do not remember that. But that was cool for the producers to give him the center square!
@@fhb3only as a fill in for Joan
