When I was traveling to New York City from 1988 to 2005, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan there was a vendor selling Christmas trees every year. For $1 he would sell a "Charlie Brown Christmas tree." Anyone who grew up in the 70's or still watches "A Charlie Brown Christmas" every year, knows what that tree looks like. Back in the day these were specials that you could only see at a certain time, certain day of the year which made them special. Now you can see anything with a click of a button at any time, so kids will never really experience this like we did.

This Peanuts segment always brings me back to my childhood...and i am almost retirement age. But why i ask myself? It's because of the innocence of the scenario... when everything in my life was simple and uncluttered and seasonal. Back in the day these were specials that you could only see at a certain time, certain day of the year which made them special. Now you can see anything with a click of a button at any time, so kids will never really experience this like we did.

It's because of the innocence of the scenario... when everything in my life was simple and uncluttered and seasonal.
That is to say: no worries about expenses; no concerns about health, weight and illnesses, and the thought of summer, winter, and XMas joy!
The Peanut gang brought me close to Jesus Christ and the meaning of Christmas

Yes that's true I remember one year that I didn't get to watch it in in almost 40 Years of watching it and the next year I got to watch it for free on Me-TV I was so so so so so so happy I guess they didn't sell enough so they had to let people watch it for free but on the main channel CBS ABC and NBC unfortunately I have not in many years 😮

The Peanuts Christmas special still gets to me, I am 62, and when the Peanuts gang yell, "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown", I start bawling like a baby.
Except now nobody can watch it unless they own Apple TV I've been watching that damn thing since 1965 when I was a child but no more children or at least poor children can watch it. Thank you Mr Gates.

One of my treasured memories is rushing my parents to get home from choir practice so I could see the very first broadcast of Charlie Brown Christmas. After all these years still my favorite holiday special.
I saw the first broadcast as well. I was 6. Has always been a Christmas favorite, along with "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". Have to watch every year, since I have them on DVD. (Jan Griffiths).
