Funny, it's in this form that some pre-1979 "Squares" endings sounded, as Kenny Williams did his "Today's contestants will receive..." spiel before the ending credits of his "This has been a Merrill Heatter-Bob Quigley Production."
Raise your hands if you hear a bit of the instrumental section of Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" (before he starts off, "I love you, baby . . . ") when this plays? Certainly William Loose had to have had some inspiration from Crewe/Gaudio . . .
It's high pitched and a bit speeded up.
It's how it sounded in one of the reruns of the Las Vegas episodes

R I P the master of The Hollywood Squares
Peter Marshall: Paul, why do motorcycle riders wear leather jackets?
Paul Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles.
Paul, you are the world's most popular fruit. What are you?
Humbled.
RIP Peter Marshall
Great mastering. The tape used for The Best Of TV Quiz & Game Show Themes was degraded.
It was also missing the middle flute section. Strange that they'd chose a scratchy damaged edited copy over the actual original one in pristine shape.
Now if we had the video!
What video? This is just theme music.
