Tinybot 6D Carbon Fiber Vinyl -- Looks Good, COMES APART EASILY!

  • During a carbon fiber vinyl comparison, I found the laminate of Tinybot's 6D Carbon Fiber vinyl separates very easily!! Although Tinybot's 6D carbon fiber vinyl looks great and quite realistic, how easily it comes apart makes me question how durable this vinyl really is to use on vehicles! See the video for yourself!

    How would it look like if you peel off the laminate and then put ppf over it? Could you try that out and make a Video?

    Hi, thanks for the video. I here because I bought tinybot 6D vinyl wrap. I bought the bigger roll. Have taken it out of the box yet. My question is, have you tried this on the other vinyl wraps? From my experience, I have discovered that some vinyl wraps are strong enough to rip the clear coat clean off a paint job. So I could definitely say what you have discovered doesn't necessarily mean that the product is weak. I'm just speaking from experience with removing vinyl wrap off my own vehicle. Great video, but I would have liked to see you test it out on another vinyl wrap. Could you make a video test the durability other wraps mentioned here? I adhesive is very strong. Some vinyl wraps will stick to itself and tear apart . I really appreciate your videos. I wanted to share my thoughts.

      Thank you for watching! In a way, I have tested some other wraps as you are asking. In my comparison video, I had stuck TeckWrap to Tinybot and onto VVivid carbon fiber for comparison in looks. When I started to peel them apart from each other, TeckWrap and VVivid were unaffected, whereas Tinybot's laminate came off with it. This discovery was accidental and caused me to then focus in on Tinybot and try seeing how easily the laminate would come off. I'll try to make a video testing out other wraps as well. Thank you again for watching and your feedback!

    shouldn't you have tried to peel the laminate off the other vinyl in the same manner? For all I know any laminate will pull away with another piece of vinyl stuck to it.

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, I did, in a sense. I discovered this issue when I had this vinyl, two types of TeckWrap, as well as VVIvid stuck onto each other over the edges when I was doing a comparison. Each one peeled off each other without any issue, except for the Tinybot vinyl, which then led me to look into it further, and thus, this video. Had it happened to the other vinyls, I would have done the same video demonstration as well. Here was my comparison video between Tinybot, TeckWrap, and VVivid where I discovered the issue. th-cam.com/video/uVusroO1bNg/w-d-xo.html
      You'll see in the second half of the video I had all the vinyls applied, overlapping each other, on the fender of my car. When I started removing them is when the laminate on Tinybot started to pull off.

    Isn’t that the protective cap that’s peeling off? If so, That’s supposed to peel off. If it’s a layer beneath the protective cap then that sucks

      if you watch the video on Tinybots TH-cam channel, you can see how they install their 6D carbon on a hood of a vehicle. by far the best and realistic looking carbon fibre wrap

    • @slimeyb8s4
      @slimeyb8s4 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is definitely a protective cap that needs to be removed before/after application, up to installer.

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, that’s the actual laminate on the film. In the video you see how easily the protective caps on the other vinyls come right off. And protective caps On other vinyls like 3M, Vvivid, Hexis, etc peel off super easily.
      However, I recently found out that Tinybot may not ship sample size rolls with the protective cap on it. I only ordered a 1’ x 5’ sample, but another viewer noted that when he Ordered a larger size, there was a easily peelable protective cap on it.
      Regardless, for the vinyl laminate to come off that easily is very concerning particularly if you are using the vinyl on an exterior application. Interior applications that probably would not be an issue.

    What's your point

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Simply informational, possibly helpful during install because when applying multiple panels, vinyl may temporarily overlap. When you peel the vinyl stuck on top (of tinybot), it may rip or separate the laminate of the tinybot vinyl.

    This is disappointing. I was just planning on picking this up to wrap my hood but my plan was to put ppf over it. Now I'm hesitant about this quality in general

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, it was definitely a surprise. I found out how easily this laminate came off, purely by accident. PPF would definitely peel off the laminate since the adhesive of PPF tends to be way more aggressive than vinyl wrap. The wrap itself though does look very good and realistic.

    Hi mate. Which quality carbon fiber wrap do you think looks the most realistic?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Based purely on looks, TeckWrap 4D or Tinybot 6D, but I’d never use them for exterior applications.

    I wonder if this would hold up better if you ceramic coat it

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Likely not. Ceramic is just a coating on top of the laminate, which the laminate is just on top of the vinyl. I wouldn't think the ceramic would help the bond between the laminate and the vinyl since it's just on top of the laminate.

      @@djstonewood8653 yeah, it's the only one that hasn't had any lamination separation or water getting under the laminate. I have a video showing a water test comparison between different carbon fiber vinyls. I also have one that I haven't published yet showing tiny bot and tech wrap, and both allowed water to penetrate under the laminate whereas the vvivid did not.
