I am a firefighter. A volunteer fire fighter in Austria. This is my way to help others, but every way helping other people is a great way and very important 🙂
I saw them live a few years ago. When they played this song they turned of the lights when they said "sometimes darkness" and then got everyone to turn on their phone lights when they sang "can show you the light". Literal chills
Just saw them this past Saturday for the first time and this is still being done. Bone chilling when we’re all outside in the dark with our lights up for that line.
Disturbed is one of those bands I can't just listen to one song from, I usually start at Track 1 and let the whole album play. The Sickness was the first album I ever purchased and I've been a fan ever since!
This song quite literally saved my life. Had it in shuffle rotation and right about the time the thoughts completely took over, here comes David's voice. I got the help I needed, by the way. I owe Disturbed more than they will ever know.
I was just at a concert for them last night, and David admitted he was struggling with depression and nearly took his own life this February. He cried when he played reason to fight. His big message is we are not alone and that we can beat the demon known as depression. I'm sure he'd be happy to hear his message is getting through
@nataliswolf HE SAID TONIGHT HE STRUGGLES EVERY TIME THEY PLAY A REASON TO FIGHT. CAN'T GET THROUGH IT WITHOUT BREAKING DOWN AND CRYING. WHICH MAKES EVERYONE ELSE CRY. I FEEL FOR HIM BECAUSE I FEEL THOSE FEELINGS EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE BUT IT'S NICE TO KNOW IM NOT ALONE
I've probably heard this song over 200 times. I get chills every time. I saw Disturbed live in Denver last week. One of the coolest concert experiences is this song live. Chills. Every time.
I remember working on my garden, I was getting tired and wished my father was still here to help me. I looked in my hand, I was using one of the tools he'd lent me before he passed...then realised....he had literally given me the tools and knowledge to do this myself. His job as a dad was complete, and it's my job now to be Dad.
Wow, bro. This is actually beautiful. I used to want to be remembered and stuff. But even if I am not specifically remembered, maybe I can pass on knowledge and skill and have made a difference anyways.
Your comment brought tears to my eyes. My dad passed in 2020. He was a professional landscaper my whole life, but I wasn’t an outdoor kinda girl. But during Covid lockdown, I started really getting into gardening just to get some fresh air. I still to this day wish I’d gotten to talk plants with my dad more, since he died just months after I finally discovered a love for the real kind instead of the plastic ones I always kept around my house. But I find myself smiling and feeling close to him each time my now crazy plant lady ass is outside playing in the dirt ❤️
Disturbed putting out all this emotional music is exactly what we need. Music now rarely is thought provoking or has any kind of feeling at all. A few years ago, I was at a Disturbed concert wearing a shirt one of my friends who killed himself made for me. His family was also in the crowd. They came down to a stage in the crowd and played some songs. There wasn't a dry eye in the stadium... metal fans all crying because of the emotions the songs brought up because of the messages...
Disturbed plays this at every show. It's a moment where David reflects on mental health, depression and suicide prevention and gets the crowd involved literally showing the light holding up camera flashes and lighters. It's an important topic for them.
Absolutly LOVE this song! Disturbed has become one of my favorite bands, not just because they fucking rock, but he has a way of getting in touch emotionally that I've rarely gotten from any other band period. I went to see them the year Vinnie Paul died. I never thought a metal concert could make me cry, but damn if Disturbed didn't find a way!
I still do. Every. Single. Time. It helped me. Disturbed as a whole is incredible. Down with the sickness helped me through the passing of my cousin. He took his own life after is wife left him.
At 1:35 when you said that a firefighter's job is scary, imagine being someone who has loved ones who are firefighters. My brother is a first responder firefighter, has EMT and Hazmat Certification in case of dire emergencies. He's one of the first ones at and on the scene and one of the last ones to leave the scene. My mom even mentioned that his superiors had called her as the closest next of kin, to ask her to have legal medical power over my brother in case he became too injured on the job to continue working or to ... Essentially, put him to sleep if it was medically impossible to keep him alive. Mama was willing to get him the help he needed, therapy included, pay his medical bills, and even help my brother in case he needed to be discarged from the force completely, but refused to do anything that involved putting him to sleep. My cousin was also in the military. A ranger, in fact. I know very little about the inner workings of the military outside of movies, TV Shows, and video games. But what very little I do know about what my cousin went through, it's been ... Almost 13 years since the day he called my mom crying because he had to shoot a young child, around 4 or 5 years old, wearing a vest full of explosives just so his entire platoon 20 feet away in the mess tent would live. His twin daughter's, at the time, were around the same age. And to this day, it still haunts him and still suffers from PTSD because of what he went through in the military. To see that Disturbed is, in their own way, bringing light to what those who face traumatic situations in their every day jobs, it's heartwarming, inspiring, and that honors me, and by extention my family, more than anything else.
We just saw Disturbed on Sunday for the 7th time! An amazing show as always - they sound as amazing now as they did 20 years ago. This song live is just fantastic! Their US tour just started and everyone should go!
If you want more amazing Disturbed songs then listen to "Hold onto the Memories" but make sure you have plenty of tissues around if you have lost a loved one. That song gets me every time!!
I feel you one day I came home from school looking forward to seeing my Grandma and my aunt told me she passed away and i said okay and pretend to be okay and i walked into my room and I just couldn't hold it in but I couldn't and just let it out love you grandma rest in peace I will miss you 😭🥹❤
This is one of my favorites, I just saw them Live last week and this song was incredible beforehand he asked everyone if they'd had to deal with things like Addiction or Depression and said to raise your hand if you have and then said to look around and see you're not alone it was surreal to see all the hands in the air and I almost cried, one of the times I was planning on attempting to take my life was around when the Immortalized album came out and this song really helped me especially the line "Don't let hope become a memory" This song is easily Top 5 best Disturbed songs
You should hear this live. It really hits you in the feeling and the amazing part is David talks about his experience fighting depression and how he won and that we are never alone in this world. He also has everyone in the crowd raise a lighter or light on your phone when he sings "the light" which is absolutely amazing.
Had the privilege to see this song performed live back in 2016, he had everyone keep their phones off and stuff and when he got to the chorus and "can show you the light" he had everyone raise their lighters/phone flashlights and it illuminated the entire stadium. Every chorus the stadium got brighter and brighter as more people joined in. It was SO magical.
This is my "power song". The first time I heard it, I was in a very dark place and about to have a conversation that I was truly dreading. As I was waiting for them to arrive I randomly turned on the rock TV station and saw/heard this song. This song gave me the power and confidence to have that difficult conversation and 8 years on, I'm in such a better place and still listen to this song any time I'm feeling low as I know that I once hit rock bottom and this was the song that pulled me out of that funk. Music has such power that we can never truly understand but I owe so much to this song
I have been a "Disturbed One" for many many years! Disturbed has helped me through very dark times in my life along with my 5FDP (Five Finger Death Punch)!!! Great vid, liked & subbed, keep up the good work! ;)
I recently saw Disturbed in concert. Absolutely amazing to hear this song live. They always have a great show! Highly recommended anyone who hasn’t seen them yet to do so. You won’t regret it 😊
I agree with you, Alex. I have had a lot of tragedy in my 60 years, but I wear my battle scars with pride. I learned early to find the positive. Citizen Soldier has a song, Tattoos, that perfectly portrays that in lyrics. As for Disturbed, Reason To Fight is another song you may enjoy (particularly the concert version).
Just saw them live Sunday in Aubern WA, they played with Breaking Benjamin and Jinjer opened for them. Overall one of the best shows I've been to in years. The crowd interaction with this song was beautiful and goosebump inducing. David still has it.
As much as I like sound of silence, it's kinda overrated for disturbed, and i much rather him react to his other songs. The reason I say "overrated" is because almost every reactor has reacted to this song.
Cannot listen to this track without getting a lump in my throat and shedding a small tear, wether it's because the essence of this song is helping me now or I'm remembering how it helped me before. Peace
It's one of my favourite songs for a reason and is a mainstay of their live performances. On more than one occasion David and the crowd have been in tears, not just with this song but a few others too
I simply love this band! They do everything from head-banging songs to ones that people say literally helped save their lives. The ode to first responders was a bonus. They are kick ass live in concert!
I just recently went to my first ever concert, and it was a Disturbed concert, along with Jinjer and Breaking Benjamin. Disturbed did a lot. Including this one. It was fucking amazing. I will not get over it
‘It takes an inner dark to rekindle the fire burning in you Ignite the fire within you’ As a DV survivor I would scream this lyric with tears streaming down my face. Disturbed can take you out of a dark place QUICK.
This song has been the anthem in my life on and off for almost my entire life. I've never had lyrics literally written to the listener themselves. The message they bring with them is so nice and comforting and truly a beacon of hope in some people's minds.
Hey Alex. Glad you checked this out. If you think Dan pleasing his guitar was bad you should look up some footage of Jimi Hendrix and how he violated his guitar, very amusing. This is an amazing song as David's voice is so pure it's unreal. Love it!!! Damn I love heavy music
This is going to be a rabbit hole you will have no choice but to go deeper into. Disturbed are just another level. Every album is amazing start to finish.
I’ve heard this song & it does have a good message behind it. You should do more songs by Disturbed! Such as their B-Sides Compilation album The Lost Children.
people always ask why i love reaction channels and shit instead of listening to music myself....I have loved Disturbed for as long as i can remember but "the light" slipped under my radar, and i heard this song for the first time with you Alex. I have to say this song has some real vibes with one of their old songs "Inside the fire" vibes.
This song literally helped save my life. My wife lost her battle with cancer in 2017, we where 28. The mental struggle since has been real, but yeah. This one's a good'n
I somehow find myself back on your channel every now and then and have been watching your vids for many, many years now. Always a source of joy for me, a happy place if you will. Thank you for that Alex, I appreciate you greatly. Now, I was very upset when I realized you have not reacted to anything from the band Polaris. Please please make that happen lol. Anything from them would be so cool to see but I personally love their songs from their EP the guilt and the grief as well as from their album the mortal coil. Just a suggestion of course lol
This song got me through one of the toughest times of my life after my son died and I had to fight the system to the truth and answers! It’s such a powerful anthem of not letting things stop you no matter what. The actual took me back to another time I thought was the worst time in my life but it really was not the worst! 20years I was in a near fatal car accident they told me I would never walk and I would be in a wheel chair. I took 184 stitches to the faces. One side of my face was wiped out because of the glass it took them 4 hrs in surgery to pick out and reattach my ear. I lived that video! Learning to walk again and go through all the surgeries to fix my face and how people treated me. It’s a song that feeds your soul!
This is my favorite song by Disturbed to date, hell may be my favorite song in general. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it, how many times it's pulled me out of some dark times, even have a tattoo inspired by it. Excellent review.
I listened to this song a lot when I was going through a really rough patch in my life. It - and a few other Disturbed songs such as Hold Onto Memories and A Reason to Fight - helped me get through things that seemed unbearable (and that I'm still shocked that I was able to get out of, honestly.) I owe a lot to this band, and hope to someday be able to see them live. I was supposed to in 2020, but the concert obviously got canceled, and I haven't been able to afford it since.
THE PLOT IN YOU - TIMES CHANGES EVERYTHING 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I've been listening to it for a long time, it's something else. One of the best clips in the genre of core music, in my opinion. The song is just wonderful.
"It's a cheat sheet to life!" I truly love this 😂❤🔥 So glad you finally got to it though... 'bout time! I love your reactions, but first time writing a comment. You react to the same lines I did when I first listen to the song... David's singing gives me chills, the variations he brings to the phrasing and how he tells the story. You did not say that, but I could tell you felt it and that was real cool to see 😁Thanks for the reaction!
Oh absolutely. From personal experience and things I’ve seen in life to other people the darkest times can actually be the best times to make a change because there’s no other time where you’re going to stare yourself in the face, and realize something needs to change. Adversity is inevitable for everyone. It’s how you respond to it. That’s what truly matters, and will shape your mentality from then on out
my grandfather was a Fireman in Atlantic City for 30 years.. and saw some SHT! dont ever use an elevator during a fire! he rose to become Chief right before I was born. they recently named a Firehouse in his honor.
As far as Disturbed songs go, this song is in my top 3. It has been a while since you did any Volbeat, Rise Against, and Offspring. And still waiting on that full Silver Scream by Ice Nine Kills full album reaction you said you would do when you did their most recent one. 🙃
Look up 'neck tapping' or 'alternating finger picking', its playing both hands on the neck of a guitar (more common in acoustic) but allows a skilled player to create amazing combos. You also tend to occasionally move your fret hand to the other side as part of it. Its rare to see because most guitarists aren't skilled enough to do it.
I just went to their concert and they were still as great live as I remember. If you can catch a live show you should. It's very therapeutic almost like healing, like going to church. He just brings something extra.
Speaking of DIsturbed have you seen the recent interview between David Drainman and The Charasmatic Voice? If not you should definitely watch it, it's good!
Listened to this song on repeat when my grandfather was dying and my family and I were just sitting by his side in the hospital room. It definitely helped me a lot.
David Draiman allows attendees to whip out their cell phone's light during the "light" parts of the song, its insane how tens of thousands cellphone lights can illuminate an entire stadium, just insane bro
I broke my elbow when I was 18. It was devastating to me for many reasons. One being that I couldn't train in MMA (I made huge progress in my technique and my fighting at the time) and two, I was supposed to recruit to military service as a fighter 3 months after. I was nervous when my cast was off understanding my hand is not functioning. I cried in the shower, pocking my hand again and again only to understand more and more that it feels numb and not normal. But I wanted to fix it really badly so I can be recruited in time. That's when I found this song. I used it as motivation for physical therapy. I would come back from the physiotherapists and start working on my hand by myself too. It was painful and exhausting but this song.. I made it through. I have alot to thank for this song and a few weeks ago I saw David draiman in my home land (israel) singing this song.
I saw Disturbed live in 2016 and this song was absolutely a highlight of the evening. Say what you will about their music, those boys BRING IT playing live! 🤘
This song really helped me out. I was struggling with depression ready to press the self-delete option, and this song gave me some hope. Before I even saw the music video
Just seen them live, and when this song was played, the whole place lit up with cell phone lights. The video I took is so powerful, and hearing it live is amazing.
Whole album was incredible, This song in particular helped me in unexplainable ways through the loss of my father in late 2015. If you haven't listened, 'Save Our Last Goodbye' from this album is also amazing.
I missed this. Thanks for the share! What timing. I am going into the hospital for two weeks. I would recommend Lacey Sturm Awaken Love should you have the time. She has done aome amazing stuff since Flyleaf. This song will give you goosebumps. It is a chef's kiss song.
I am not an avid follower of Disturbed, discovered them with the Sound of Silence, but what I have heard is that they write some kick ass lyrics that can be very meaningful. Also they do some fantastic covers.
Oh man I found you again.your reactions are the best.Disturbed is my no 1 band. This is particularly my addiction recovery and losing my mom.bro and dad song.Reminds me to stay focused.
Yeah, disturb has some of the deepest And best lyrics i've ever heard they are my all time favorite band. Would love to see you go down the rabbit hole again
This has always been a song that speaks to me and so many others. It is especially poignant with David's recent comments concerning his own struggle with depression and thoughts of suicide. I would love to see you check out more Ice Nine Kills and Crown the Empire's Johnny Ringo's trilogy; they tell a really cool story. Love your stuff!
Thank you for doing this. I use to bartend and drink waitress for disturbed when they played at the small rock clubs, here in the chicago area, before they got their break. They are just as amazing as they were in the late 1990's.
Saw them live last night in Irvine, CA. They performed this song song and asked the crowd to hold their phones or lighters when he says “the light” shit was awesome to see 10k+ lights in the air
One of the first songs I heard after leaving the psych ward after a suicide attempt-very special to me and cried my eyes out when I watched them perform it live a year later at The Rise Up Festival dedicated to suicide awareness!❤
I am a firefighter. A volunteer fire fighter in Austria. This is my way to help others, but every way helping other people is a great way and very important 🙂

Just saw them this past Saturday for the first time and this is still being done. Bone chilling when we’re all outside in the dark with our lights up for that line.
Just experienced this Sunday. Absolutely stunning moment.
That whole album is amazing!!
I second that comment.
Immortalized?
Since the very release date it got me so hooked, I reaaaaaally love Immortalized 🙌🏼
Disturbed is one of those bands I can't just listen to one song from, I usually start at Track 1 and let the whole album play. The Sickness was the first album I ever purchased and I've been a fan ever since!
I concur
I always love the way David stretches the words. “You need never feel BUHROKEN again.” Not broken. BUHroken

This is one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever heard, it fills me with joy and also reduces me to tears every single time I hear it
This song has been the anthem in my life on and off for almost my entire life.
He has the most amazing voice and this is one band I have yet to see live. Definitely on my bucket list.
*Disturbed* is such a band that you can play any songs from any album and they will sound exactly the same.
I’ve heard this song & it does have a good message behind it. You should do more songs by Disturbed! Such as their B-Sides Compilation album The Lost Children.
Disturbed is a great band and David Draiman’s vocals are amazing and beautiful
Yes! God of the Mind!
I really needed this song and didn't know it. Thanks for covering it Alex. Loved it!
Seriously? The Light is one of my favorites!❤️🤘❤️
people always ask why i love reaction channels and shit instead of listening to music myself....I have loved Disturbed for as long as i can remember but "the light" slipped under my radar, and i heard this song for the first time with you Alex. I have to say this song has some real vibes with one of their old songs "Inside the fire" vibes.
Love this album. Love this song. Have played it so many times is now the only song my 3 yr old son wants to listen to.
There's a ton of songs they have you need to listen to. The night, the animal, prayer, A reason to fight are all bangers
I love The Night!!
Ok, your added sound effects at strategic moments were killing me. That was hilarious.
I'm glad Disturbed takes awhile to put out albums because they come out really great.
I listened to this song a lot when I was going through a really rough patch in my life. It - and a few other Disturbed songs such as Hold Onto Memories and A Reason to Fight - helped me get through things that seemed unbearable (and that I'm still shocked that I was able to get out of, honestly.)
I owe a lot to this band, and hope to someday be able to see them live.
Never watched the video, but I used to listen to it on loop non stop for weeks at times. Super awesome song
As far as Disturbed songs go, this song is in my top 3. It has been a while since you did any Volbeat, Rise Against, and Offspring. And still waiting on that full Silver Scream by Ice Nine Kills full album reaction you said you would do when you did their most recent one. 🙃
Ice Nine Kills is my favorite band so I agree on The Silver Scream videos and then of course the Welcome To Horrorwood videos it's like a movie
Yes!! I’d love to see his reaction to TSS, WTH & ETITB
That's why they call themselves Disturbed❤
Disturbed Are One of my favourite bands of all freaking time
Disturbed is an awesome band, they have so many songs with a clear message....
One of my favorite songs. The song gives me goosebumps.
Always love seeing your reactions. Especially when it's a song I know. It's interesting to see your take on it
I saw Disturbed live in 2016 and this song was absolutely a highlight of the evening. Say what you will about their music, those boys BRING IT playing live! 🤘
This song really helped me out. I was struggling with depression ready to press the self-delete option, and this song gave me some hope. Before I even saw the music video
That entire album is sick. Great video!
Just seen them live, and when this song was played, the whole place lit up with cell phone lights. The video I took is so powerful, and hearing it live is amazing.
Immortalized is one of their best albums
Whole album was incredible,
This song in particular helped me in unexplainable ways through the loss of my father in late 2015.
Firefighter here
It is not scary when you know someone's life depend on you 😊
Keep rocking alex 🤘🏽
This song hits home! Fought cancer which was a nightmare and also a blessing.
The Whole album is awesome. Sound of silence is So good.
This song and One Republic's "I lived" are my go-to inspirational songs.
Thank you for doing this. I use to bartend and drink waitress for disturbed when they played at the small rock clubs, here in the chicago area, before they got their break. They are just as amazing as they were in the late 1990's.
Great song choice and is a hidden gem that needs to be played more in my opinion.
My personal favorite off Immortalized. Great Song.
Saw them live last night in Irvine, CA. They performed this song song and asked the crowd to hold their phones or lighters when he says “the light” shit was awesome to see 10k+ lights in the air
“The Vengeful One” is another song from disturbed you should listen to.
One of the first songs I heard after leaving the psych ward after a suicide attempt-very special to me and cried my eyes out when I watched them perform it live a year later at The Rise Up Festival dedicated to suicide awareness!❤
❤ I've been down the same path as you! You are a true Warrior! Espavo
