Pretty common. Which coil? 5 or 6 usually get moisture on them. I just changed 5 and 6 but about a yr later I just got same code again. I'm about to change all the spark plugs just because I haven't changed then in awhile. But I guarantee I need to replace those damn coils again.

Thanks for the video, my code reader says engine misfire but doesn't say which cylinder, I was looking for a way to test the coil packs out of the car and you delivered
3001 is cylinder 1, 3002 is cylinder 2 and so on. But 3000 is going to be multiple cylinders

I've learned to change a few parts on my own over the years and have successfully changed several coils in my Straight 6 GMC but still haven't replaced all of them.. thanks for posting.. but will you please also add a link for the type of code reader you used so I can test out the rest of the coils to know which one is bad. Before the change engine light comes on?.. I would so appreciate that. Kudos..
I used a multi meter for testing the coils, you can find them at harbor freight

New coil pack and plugs put in a2004 GMC 5.3 sierra all are working except two that have no power any suggestions
what would your opinion be if you replace the spark plug and the coil that was misfiring with new and it still misfiring
Steve Dodson I know this is an old question, but I’m going to answer it anyway...
If a new spark plug/ignition coils doesn’t correct the misfire in that particular cylinder, then the next thing I would do is conduct a compression test just to rule out any leak down issues. I would follow the compression test with using a bi-directional scan tool to manually turn the fuel injector off for that cylinder while the motor is running. If the engine bogs down and idle speed changes, then the injector is working. If there is no change in idle, then the fuel injector is to blame. Another common issue with the LL8 atlas I6 is intake manifold bolts coming loose causing a vacuum leak which in turn causes misfire.

I just changed the spark plugs on my 2004 gmc envoy 1 had oil an the code says random misfire
The wiring harness is very commonly bad.. The insulation is latex based and prone to rodent chewing and corrosion inside the wrapped harness... Especially the coils and injectors.. Don't even get me started on blower control.

what if your trailblazer obd2 port isn't working and it's not the cigar fuse? Also I have a misfire on cylinder 3. I swapped the coil and the cylinder is still dead. Bought a new spark plug and it's still shaking at idle. Already cleaned the throttle body too. Please help
Did you ever get to the bottom of it?
when I removed the plug the top head was entirely missing from the plug, God knows where it went, hopefully not inside the engine.
RTV was a bad idea bro you gotta clean it out every time you change the coil pack now or it wont seat correctly

Ok I did all that but still have a #6 chl mis fire. New plug gapped at.042

I saw some vids where the firing order is different,as in #6 is actually in #4 position,maybe try switching those two??
