In case you don't know, the raven marks it as 85 Expeditionary and logistics wing of the RAF. It might have been part of a catering team or possibly mountain rescue. Probably came from the old RAF base at Stafford. There's a very good chance I drove Poe at some point when I was part of that wing, but most of our vehicles had elephants on the side.
As a Brit who has been following your channel for a while and loving all your and the very handsome Mr Blue's adventures, i didn't think there could be anything else to top it and BOOM, you did it, a British Landy and not only that, an ex-forces one. Fantastic. Looking forward to the build out and more adventures to come 🚚😄

Last UK inspection was done on 28th June 2022 when it had done 63616 miles, it's passed with no advisories
Great Vid, A few tips for you. 1. Buy a spare Alternator/Generator ideally a Hi output one if your fitting lots of electrical accessories. 2. Always use Good quality diesel fuel ideally add a fuel additive to raise the diesel Cetane number - it makes the engine run smoother/cleaner with better MPG and reliability. 3. Be super smooth with your gear box and clutch when driving- they are weak on Defenders and the smoother you are the better they will last. 4. Don't worry to much about Oil leaks as they leak from just about every where - But carry a spare gallon of engine/gearbox oil to top up just in case. 5. Buy some basic hand tools spanners/socket set/screwdrivers and learn some Car mechanics - will save you a lot of trouble. 6. Have a repair fund or start saving a few ££'s as Land Rovers will cost you a few quid every year to keep on the road.

Nice!! I thought it was ex-military by the look of it and checking the plate shows it was first registered in 2017 so the military would have had it before that as they don’t register them from new. 2017 must have been when it was decommissioned. Looking at the UK inspection history for it shows no rust issues which is good news as the frames can rust on these. Not many issues at all since 2017, just a brake line and headlamp bulbs and a wheel bearing. Seems like you got a good one! 👍🏻

I love it! I had a RHD Military 109 years ago, now I am waiting on delivery of a 96 RHD 300 tdi 110 from Power Stance Import Export as well (mid Jan). Joel is the best! Stop by and check it out when you get to Northern Utah, we got some great back country to explore!

I’ll start by saying I love the new rig. For some folks that would be an ideal platform. I will also say that unless you developed some advanced British diesel mechanic skills while you slept last night you are in for a world of pain (ie, expense and frustration). On the upside I (and many people like myself) will absolutely watch every single episode to watch this drama unfold and reach its inevitable conclusion. Good luck and Godspeed young lady.

@@sycamoreandsalt I am honestly not trying to be mean at all. During the episode we learn the rig only has 63k miles on it, ok great. Then we also learn that everything has been rebuilt....hmmm. Why did everything need to be rebuilt on a rig with 63k miles on it? Well I have a pretty good idea why. The engineering and reliability of the older Land Rover Defenders is not good. Icing on the cake - the seller gives you a box of parts he knows for a fact you're going to need for your freshly rebuilt vehicle. Building classic cars for my collection is my main pass time in life. I have a 65 Impala SS, a 66 Chevelle, a 67 Chevelle, a 72 International Scout II and a 78 Chevy K10 Shortbed. What I'm trying to say is that I have a firm understanding of what it takes to keep an old vehicle on the road. This is going to be an eventful year for Maria.
@@BigIronTexas respect, you have a desirable collection. Poe's a collector's dream, not a practical rig to live in like various other creators are trying to achieve. If you want reliability and low fuel charges this is not what you want. It's basically an Impala with big tires minus the cheap repairs.. thumbnails will look good so I'm hoping maybe new traction on the channel will afford her this liability.

I have a wonderful Australian Shepherd named Raven, even though he is not all black, (of course) so I absolutely love the raven on the door of Poe. My rig, that I don't live in full-time (and have yet to think of a suitable name for) is a white 2016 4Runner, and looks more like a soccer mom rig, but hey, I was a soccer mom in Minnesota! I now live out in the mountains in Idaho. Anyway, wish I could find a way to put that Raven motif on the door of my forerunner as my dog Raven and I wander around the mountains out here. Have fun in your new classy rig Poe!

Design it where you don't have to go outside to get into the back. Also, you might have already had plans to do this, but also set it up where you can cook inside without leaving the safety of the van. A lot of weird stuff is happening out here and you want to be as safe as possible. You can also place a narrow window over your sink/stove/work area...Not big enough for anyone to get in, but wide enough to bring in a lot of light and air when you need it. You have enough space in there for a shower/bathroom. I can't stress it enough. Get you a handgun and some bear spray. Don't leave your van without it.

I mean I much prefer a stick shift so I get the manual part but was it just for authenticity or is there some better or higher function of the right side driver manual?
