      we must be always be guided by the holy spirit in everything we do and in every aspect of life in order to walk in the narrow path which leads to life. we are freely given the holy spirit when we ask the heavenly Father with faith for we are made righteous in his sight by the precious blood of the lamb and all the inequity and stain of our sin is put upon him as an atonement for our sins
      luke 11:9-13
      "And I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone asking receives; and the one seeking finds; and to the one knocking, it will be opened.
      And which father among you, if the son will ask for a fish, and instead of a fish, will give to him a serpent? Or also if he will ask for an egg, will he give to him a scorpion? Therefore if you, being evil, know to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father who is in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those asking Him!” "
      We as Christians have both the inner man and outer man working in us. The inner man is the new creation in Christ which is pure and holy formed in us when we are born again which is not will of man, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. As long as we are alive on this earth we also have our carnal nature or flesh in us also know as the outer man acting as a fifth column within us
      2nd cor 14:16
      "For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day"
      Matthew 16:24
      Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
      so this what Jesus meant by carry your cross and follow me if we want to truly follow Christ we have to crucify our flesh and deny our carnal nature that wants to rebel against God and obey his commandments ie love your lord your God with all your heart and soul and loves your neighbours and enemies as your self. it is impossible for our outer man to do this with willpower or self-control for if done by the flesh it will lead to self-righteousness and pride. When Jesus left, he told that he would send a helper to guide us and comfort us in our trials. He is God on earth only member of the Godhead which on earth at the moment with us on earth. The holy spirit is not meant just to speak in tounges or just the use of any other gift of the spirit (which is secondary)but is primarily our personal guide who is supposed to be an integral part of our decision making the process of our life.

    Your analogy of how our fathers treated us as children and how we perceive God as our father struck home to me. I thought about that and I do in fact think of God just as my father fathered. He was a disciplinarian and I feared his disapproval and still do (I am 48 years old), however he was loving and did not express that love in words (a silent love, he never says the words "I love you son"). Just for context he had 8 people to take care of and worked hard to make ends meet, we never went hungry or lacked the essentials, in that I see his love. My perception of God has always been: never except God to take a special notice of me, nor will ask him, except only to confess my sins. I rarely ask for things from God and I think it comes from my upbringing that nothing more is to be expected that than what has already be given.

    Question...do u believe in the gifts of the spirit at work in the body today?

    • @GetaRidebyRyan
      @GetaRidebyRyan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, Jeff is confessionally reformed, and his church holds to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of faith. So he would be cessationist rather than charismatic. However, I don’t believe he thinks the gifts cannot operate at all. Check out the video on this channel (apologia) with John Barros and a biblical example of speaking in tongues.

    I am not at peace and full of joy and love and willing to serve my neighbors out of love for God, yet I have been Christian (Roman Catholic) since my early 20s. What am I missing, or WHY am I missing the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit? Or, how can I obtain this Spirit that is a gift? What do I need to do or believe or whatever to obtain this wonderful gift, so that I may have that real and true peace? I love Jesus with all my heart, I pray daily, I ask for the Spirit, I try to be as open and receptive to the Spirit as I can be. I have repented and tried to clear my conscience and be obedient to the Lord as much as I am able to. Please help me and show me what I am missing or why I am devoid of the Spirit. Thank you.

    • @eagleclan75
      @eagleclan75 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Have you ever considered being Roman Catholic could be the problem?
      The bible clearly states that salvation comes with faith in Christ. Grace is then given to us as a gift not by works.
      If we believe or salvation is only achievable by any other means like confessing our sins to a Human then we don't have grace or salvation.
      We can be happy with true faith.

    • @w.spencer8294
      @w.spencer8294 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely not. I’m convinced that the Roman Catholic Church is the true church, and the evidence for me, is overwhelming. And I would say that my own mood instability is the problem, because when I wrote this I was so restless and unhappy, but now, a short time later, I am spiritually fulfilled and at peace. But I thank you so much for your suggestion. God bless you.

      W. Spencer The true, original church is mentioned in the book of Acts and the epistles. Nothing like Catholicism.
      The most crucial problem with the Roman Catholic Church is its belief that faith alone in Christ is not sufficient for salvation. The Bible clearly and consistently states that receiving Jesus Christ as Savior, by grace through faith, grants salvation (John 1:12; 3:16,18,36; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10,13; Ephesians 2:8-9). The Roman Catholic Church rejects this. The official position of the Roman Catholic Church is that a person must believe in Jesus Christ AND be baptized AND receive the Eucharist along with the other sacraments AND obey the decrees of the Roman Catholic Church AND perform meritorious works AND not die with any mortal sins AND etc., etc., etc. Catholic divergence from the Bible on this most crucial of issues, salvation, means that yes, Catholicism is a false religion. If a person believes what the Catholic Church officially teaches, he/she will not be saved. Any claim that works or rituals must be added to faith in order for salvation to be achieved is a claim that Jesus’ death was not sufficient to fully purchase our salvation.
      While salvation by faith is the most crucial issue, in comparing Roman Catholicism with the Word of God, there are many other differences and contradictions as well. The Roman Catholic Church teaches many doctrines that are in disagreement with what the Bible declares. These include apostolic succession, worship of saints or Mary, prayer to saints or Mary, the pope / papacy, infant baptism, transubstantiation, plenary indulgences, the sacramental system, and purgatory. While Catholics claim Scriptural support for these concepts, none of these teachings have any solid foundation in the clear teaching of Scripture. These concepts are based on Catholic tradition, not the Word of God. In fact, they all clearly contradict Biblical principles.
      The Cathoic church is mentioned in this passage. They forbid marriage.
      I Tim. 4
      Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons,
      2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared.
      3 They forbid marriage (for priests) and demand abstinence from foods (like meat) that God created to be received with gratitude by those who believe and know the truth.
      What you are missing is God. You have a religion. You don't have the truth.

    • @eagleclan75

      @@fayelewis5476 you explain it very well and in detail. Thank you for the time and effort in your writing.
      Paul also said we have the cornerstone and foundation. Of anyone gives a different foundation let then be accursed.
      Jesus and the Apostles also speak alot about man-made traditions. The Roman Catholic church had done exactly what the Pharisees did.

Do you discipline your kids in any way or just remind them to take it to Christ for forgiveness? (Clearly discipline is a part of God's loving nature and spoken about often throughout scripture) I know you said "I can't just bend them over when they do wrong (violate God's law) and spank" - I wasn't clear if you were saying that it's wrong to spank/discipline them or it's wrong "JUST" to spank and have our kids believe their is no mercy, forgiveness in Christ and they have to keep all the law perfectly or else.. (Which we know isn't possible)

      Faye Lewis Hi! Who made Sunday the Lord’s day?

    • @fayelewis5476
      @fayelewis5476 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bethany Gage The early Christian called Sunday the Lord's Day. Jesus is Lord!
      In all the 5 books that John wrote, he always called the Sabbath "the Sabbath"
      If Rev 1:10 was the Sabbath, John would have said, "I was in the Spirit on the Sabbath".
      This proves it was not the Sabbath but the First day of the week: Sunday.
      107AD IGNATIUS: let every friend of Christ keep the Lord's Day as a festival, the resurrection-day, the queen and chief of all the days of the week. (Ignatius, Epistle to the Magnesians, chp 9. Ante-Nicene Fathers , vol. 1, pg. 62-63.)
      130AD BARNABAS: Moreover God says to the Jews, 'Your new moons and Sabbaths 1 cannot endure.' You see how he says, 'The present Sabbaths are not acceptable to me, but the Sabbath which I have made in which, when I have rested [heaven: Heb 4] from all things, I will make the beginning of the eighth day which is the beginning of another world.' Wherefore we Christians keep the eighth day for joy, on which also Jesus arose from the dead and when he appeared ascended into heaven. (15:8f, The Epistle of Barnabas, 100 AD, Ante-Nicene Fathers , vol. 1, pg. 147)
      150AD JUSTIN: But Sunday is the day on which we hold our common assembly, because it is the first day of the week and Jesus our saviour on the same day rose from the dead. (First apology of Justin, Ch 68)
      150AD JUSTIN: And on the day called Sunday there is a gathering together in the same place of all who live in a city or a rural district. ... We all make our assembly in common on the day of the Sun, since it is the first day, on which God changed the darkness and matter and made the world, and Jesus Christ our Savior arose from the dead on the same day. For they crucified him on the day before Saturn's day, and on the day after (which is the day of the Sun the appeared to his apostles and taught his disciples these things. (Apology, 1, 67:1-3, 7; First Apology, 145 AD, Ante-Nicene Fathers , Vol. 1, pg. 186)
      190AD CLEMENT OF ALEXANDRIA: He does the commandment according to the Gospel and keeps the Lord's day, whenever he puts away an evil mind . . . glorifying the Lord's resurrection in himself. (Vii.xii.76.4)
      200AD TERTULLIAN: Others . . . suppose that the sun is the god of the Christians, because it is well-known that we regard Sunday as a day of joy. (To the Nations 1: 133)
      225 AD The Didascalia "The apostles further appointed: On the first day of the week let there be service, and the reading of the Holy Scriptures, and the oblation, because on the first day of the week our Lord rose from the place of the dead, and on the first day of the week he arose upon the world, and on the first day of the week he ascended up to heaven, and on the first day of the week he will appear at last with the angels of heaven" (Didascalia 2).
      300AD EUSEBIUS: [The Ebionites] were accustomed to observe the Sabbath and other Jewish customs but on the Lord's days to celebrate the same practices as we in remembrance of the resurrection of the Savior. (Church History Ill.xxvii.5)
      300 AD Eusebius of Caesarea "The day of his [Christ's] light . . . was the day of his resurrection from the dead, which they say, as being the one and only truly holy day and the Lord's day (Proof of the Gospel 4:16:186).
      350 AD APOSTOLIC CONSTITUTIONS: And on the day of our Lord's resurrection, which is the Lord's day, meet more diligently, sending praise to God that made the universe by Jesus, and sent Him to us, and condescended to let Him suffer, and raised Him from the dead. Otherwise what apology will he make to God who does not assemble on that day to hear the saving word concerning the resurrection, on which we pray thrice standing in memory of Him who arose in three days, in which is performed the reading of the prophets, the preaching of the Gospel, the oblation of the sacrifice, the gift of the holy food? (Constitutions of the Holy Apostles, book 2)
      350 AD APOSTOLIC CONSTITUTIONS: Do you therefore fast, and ask your petitions of God. We enjoin you to fast every fourth day of the week, and every day of the preparation, and the surplusage of your fast bestow upon the needy; every Sabbath-day excepting one, and every Lord's day, hold your solemn assemblies, and rejoice: for he will be guilty of sin who fasts on the Lord's day, being the day of the resurrection, or during the time of Pentecost, or, in general, who is sad on a festival day to the Lord For on them we ought to rejoice, and not to mourn. (Constitutions of the Holy Apostles, book 5)
      350 AD APOSTOLIC CONSTITUTIONS But keep the Sabbath, and the Lord's day festival; because the former is the memorial of the creation, and the latter of the resurrection. But there is one only Sabbath to be observed by you in the whole year, which is that of our Lord's burial, on which men ought to keep a fast, but not a festival. For inasmuch as the Creator was then under the earth, the sorrow for Him is more forcible than the joy for the creation; for the Creator is more honourable by nature and dignity than His own creatures." (Constitutions of the Holy Apostles, book 7)
      350 AD APOSTOLIC CONSTITUTIONS "How We Ought to Assemble Together, and to Celebrate the Festival Day of Our Saviour's Resurrection. On the day of the resurrection of the Lord, that is, the Lord's day, assemble yourselves together, without fail, giving thanks to God, and praising Him for those mercies God has bestowed upon you through Christ, and has delivered you from ignorance, error, and bondage, that your sacrifice may be unspotted, and acceptable to God, who has said concerning His universal Church: "In every place shall incense and a pure sacrifice be offered unto me; for I am a great King, saith the Lord Almighty, and my name is wonderful among the heathen." (Constitutions of the Holy Apostles, book 7)
      400 AD The Apostolic Constitutions "And on the day of our Lord's resurrection, which is the Lord's day, meet more diligently, sending praise to God that made the universe by Jesus, and sent him to us, and condescended to let him suffer, and raised him from the dead. Bethany Gage
      The Lord's day is whatever day Christians worship on.
      Jesus rose on the first day (Sunday) Jesus was crucified on Friday and rose on the first day.
      The Holy Spirit was given on Pentecost Acts 2:1, which always falls on a Sunday
      Early Christians from 30-300AD referred to Sunday as the Lord's day BECAUSE it was the day Jesus rose from the dead.
      The only example of the Lord's supper being practiced by Christians is in Acts 20:7, on Sunday.
      "Sunday" is only used in languages such as German, Dutch, and English, whereas Latin-based languages, such as Spanish, Italian, and French use a derivative of the Latin word "Dominica," literally "Lord's Day." So the very notion of the first day of the week having something to do with the sun depends on the language you speak. (Mario Derksen)

      Sabbath is Saturday and Lord’s Day is Sunday. Rest (forget your job for a day) on Saturday and Recreate (go to Church) on Sunday.
      People want laws to govern everything. There are no laws governing Sabbath anymore, but consider that God blessed the Seventh Day (that one original day) and it has never stopped being blessed. Every Saturday is just a memorial of that original Sabbath.
      The Sabbath didn’t begin with the Law of Moses. It existed at creation.
      Again, regulations don’t apply to the Sabbath. It’s a memorial, but there’s no curse tied to it.
      (Whether you believe in 24-hour creation days is irrelevant. The Sabbath simply represents the original first Seventh Day, however many minutes on your watch it was.)

      Matthew 22: 23-33 - 23That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. 24“Teacher,” they said, “Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for him. 25Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. 26The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. 27Finally, the woman died. 28Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?”
      29Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 31But about the resurrection of the dead-have you not read what God said to you, 32‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’b ? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”
      33When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

    How can you be 100% God and have limits? Interested in knowing the logic behind this since Jesus doesn't know certain things the Father knows. If Jesus were God than why would he choose to stop himself from knowing certain events that other parts of his own self knows. If Jesus existed eternally did he know everything the Father knew before the Father sent him to Mary? Who decided whether or not Jesus was going to know everything was it the Father or the Spirit or Jesus?

    • @Iffmeister
      @Iffmeister 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Jesus emptied himself of that for a time (Philippians 2:5-11) so that he could fully identify with human beings. The entire ministry of Jesus was God coming down to our level, slowing down to our speed, and entering our brokenness, our pain, our humanity, so that we could come into relationship with him, and to be brought into the kingdom of light! This is the fundamental thing that separates Christianity from every other religion, and is why I love God so much!

    • @seektruth581
      @seektruth581 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ify Nsoha thanks for explaining but that sounds illogical because it suggests that an all knowing God does not know what it is like to be a human when he already knows everything.
      The assumption is God made an aspect of himself to never know what it is like to be a man so he could experience what it is like to be a man even though another part of his self knows what it is like. That doesn’t sound like a logical explanation of the God in Jewish bible. This concept of the nature of God being divided into different aspects and God being a man was already common among pagans of that time. It’s red flags, better to stick with the original Hebrew Scriptures.

    • @mugenel3712
      @mugenel3712 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jesus is and isn't God.
      Let me explain
      God(the Father) is the only true God (John 17:3). He is true Deity. He cannot been seen (John 1:18) and He cannot be heard (John 5:37). Such "otherness" (for lack of a better word) is the attribute of Absolute Deity.
      You should start to realize by now that Humans are not only limited but hopeless far beyond our capacity of ever knowing Him.
      How can the Invisible and Inaudible God make Himself known?
      Enter Christ
      Firstborn of all Creation (Col 1:15), The Creative Original or Beginning of the Creation of God (Rev 3:14) and the Only Begotten God (John1:18)
      Since Christ has the privilege of being the both the IMAGE and WORD of God, He is therefore God to all of creation IN a Relative sense. Yet the Father is God in the absolute sense.
      The Image of God made Him visible, the Word gave Him expression, the Form manifested His glory. Instead of imposing divine boundaries, they removed human limitations.
      He is all that an image ought to be, the ideal representation of the most marvelous Original. Seeing Christ, we see Him Whom no man has seen or can see. Instead of being stricken to death by the sight, as we surely would were it the absolute Deity, we are given life, and the power to look upon His glory, yea, we ourselves partake of it and become like Him.
      With all that being said it makes sense for Christ not to know the day nor hour of His coming according to the will of the Father for it is the Son's delight to do the Father's Will and the Father's will is Absolute.
      "Nevertheless for us there is one God, the Father, out of Whom all is, and we for Him, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through Whom all is, and we through Him."(1Cor 8:6)
      God bless.

    • @mugenel3712
      @mugenel3712 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seektruth581
      No, God was never and will never be a trinity. Yes He was limited in his knowledge by the simple fact of being a creature. For nothing about him is absolute, all are delegated to him, be they power, wisdom, knowledge, sovereignty, all delegated to him by the Father. These things can be delegated to any creature the Father desires to give but it is always with measure. Yet for the Son they were given without measure almost as if it was his Birthright.

He must receive the Holy Ghost, have the heavens opened unto him, and know God, and then sin against him. After a man has sinned against the Holy Ghost, there is no repentance for him. Days don’t matter this is the new covenant. My brotha.
      “In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations- “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using- according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.”

    Calvanists like Durbin preach the accursed false gospel of works that the Scriptures warned and threatened damnation twice for preaching.
    Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
    Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
    Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
    Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
    If you’re trying to be saved or stay saved, you’re probably not saved, nor do you have the assurance of eternal life that the true gospel gives to all who believe it.
    The narrow path is the path of grace and faith for all who have received God’s unspeakable gift. A gift is free with no strings attached or it’s not a gift.
    2Co 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
    One of the worst doctrines of the devil is to redefine ”repentance” as a turning from sin, which immediately negates the gift by requiring you to do something (works) to be saved. Repentance doesn’t mean a turning from sin. “Metanoia” is the Greek word translated as “Repentance” and it means a change of mind:
    Meta=Change; Noia=Mind
    STRONGS NT 3341: μετάνοια
    μετάνοια, μετανοίας, ἡ (μετανοέω), a change of mind:
    When you believe the gospel and trust Jesus Christ as your Savior, you have repented, and you have eternal life, now and forever. You should know you have eternal life, now.
    1Jn 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
    It’s so important to get the gospel right or you could end up in hell. Paul threatened damnation twice (Gal 1:8-9) to anyone/thing who tried to add works to the gospel of grace he received directly from the Lord Jesus Christ.
    Rom 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
    If you try to add your works to be saved or to prove you’re saved, you negate God’s grace and you go to hell. God will not be a debtor to any man, we can receive salvation as His free gift or not at all.
    Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    The Apostle Paul received the gospel directly from the Lord Jesus Christ and not from any man per Gal 1:12.
    Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
    The gospel Paul received directly from the Lord Jesus Christ is found in 1 Cor 15:1-4.
    1Co15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
    1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    The moment someone believes the gospel personally, that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day has received the gift of eternal life. The moment you believe, you’re eternally sealed with the Holy Spirit, and are born again from above (Eph 1:13-14).
    When you trust Jesus Christ as your Savior you can’t go to hell because the penalty for all your sins (past, present, & future) have already been paid for by Him. And only Jesus Christ kept the 10 Commandments and He imputes His righteousness, the righteousness of God, to your account the moment you believe the gospel and trust Him as Savior. You may not feel like it but you become as holy and righteous as Jesus Christ, and you’re eternally qualified for Heaven. You’re saved from hell and guaranteed Heaven when you die or are raptured because you believe the gospel and trust Jesus Christ as your Savior.
    The Lord Jesus Christ resurrected victorious over sin, death, the devil, and hell. Every time someone believes the gospel, the devil and hell are plundered.
    Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
    Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
    Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

      Works don't prove salvation, they are a natural result of true salvation. Anyone who says they love God will naturally want to keep His commands. If they don't they are a liar and the truth is not in them (they don't really believe and choose not to be saved)

    Sunday is NOT the Lord's day!
    7th Day Sabbath 👉 (Exodus 20:8-11)
    1st Day Sunday 👉 (Mark 7:7)
    WAKE UP CHRISTIANS!!!!!!!!!

      Sunday is the Lord's Day. The day God started the church. It was called Pentecost. Lev. 23.
      e. Revelation 1:10 says, “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet.” Since the apostle John does not elaborate on the meaning of “Lord’s day,” we can assume that his target audience, first-century Christians, were already familiar with the expression.
      Some have assumed that the Lord’s day is the New Testament equivalent of the Sabbath. The Sabbath day was instituted by God for the nation of Israel to commemorate His deliverance of them from Egypt (Deuteronomy 5:15). Sabbath began Friday at sunset and ended Saturday at sunset and was to be a day of complete rest from all labor, symbolic of the Creator’s resting on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 20:11; 23:12). The Sabbath was a special sign to the Israelites that they had been set apart as followers of the most High God. Their keeping of the Sabbath would help distinguish them from the nations around them. However, nowhere in Scripture is the Sabbath ever referred to as the Lord’s day. The term Sabbath was still in use within the Jewish community in New Testament times and is referred to as such by Jesus and the apostles (Matthew 12:5; John 7:23; Colossians 2:16).
      Sunday was the day that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, an act that forever separated Christianity from any other religion (John 20:1). Since that time, believers have gathered on the first day of the week to celebrate His victory over sin and death (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2). Even though the Sabbath day was designated by God as a holy day, Jesus demonstrated that He was Lord over the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8). Jesus stated that He had come not to abolish but to fulfill the whole Law. Rule-keeping could not justify anyone; only through Jesus could sinful humanity be declared righteous (Romans 3:28). Paul echoes this truth in Colossians 2:16-17 when he writes, “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.”
      I am wide awake. Jesus said, "Take up your cross and follow Me." "Do not follow Ellen G. White."

      This is all a matter of life or death!

      Revelation 1:10 speaks of the Lord's day!
      🤔What is the "Lord's day"????
      Bible says 👉(Isaiah 58:13)Lord's day!
      Why Sunday can't be the Lord's day, I give you two good reasons!!
      1) Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secrets unto his servants the prophets.
      (Amos 3:7)
      2) For if JESUS had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day!!!
      (Hebrews 4:8 KJV )
      Peace be with you.

      This was written to the nation of Israel. This verse does not say the sabbath is the Lord's day. It is the holy day of the Lord.
      “If you keep from desecrating the Sabbath, from doing whatever you want on my holy day;
      if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways,
      ________________
      Hebrews 4 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 Therefore, a Sabbath rest remains for God’s people. 10 For the person who has entered his rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us then make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience.
      The conquest in Joshua's day did not lead to a permanent possession of the land. Such permanent possession of their promised inheritance had become for Judaism an expectation which would only be realized in Messiah's kingdom. v. 10 But it must now be said clearly that entering into God's rest means resting from one's own work just as God did from His. We need to model our lives after Jesus Christ who "was faithful to the One who appointed Him" 3:2 and must be careful to "hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first" (3:14) Only then are we able to rest from our works in the joyful possession of our inheritance in the messianic kingdom.
      ___________
      The various elements of the Sabbath symbolized the coming of the Messiah, who would provide a permanent rest for His people. Once again the example of resting from our labors comes into play. With the establishment of the Old Testament Law, the Jews were constantly "laboring" to make themselves acceptable to God. Their labors included trying to obey a myriad of do’s and don’ts of the ceremonial law, the Temple law, the civil law, etc. Of course they couldn’t possibly keep all those laws, so God provided an array of sin offerings and sacrifices so they could come to Him for forgiveness and restore fellowship with Him, but only temporarily. Just as they began their physical labors after a one-day rest, so, too, did they have to continue to offer sacrifices.
      Hebrews 10:1 tells us that the law "can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship." But these sacrifices were offered in anticipation of the ultimate sacrifice of Christ on the cross, who "after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right of God" (Hebrews 10:12). Just as He rested after performing the ultimate sacrifice, He sat down and rested-ceased from His labor of atonement because there was nothing more to be done, ever. Because of what He did, we no longer have to "labor" in law-keeping in order to be justified in the sight of God. Jesus was sent so that we might rest in God and in what He has provided.
      Another element of the Sabbath day rest which God instituted as a foreshadowing of our complete rest in Christ is that He blessed it, sanctified it, and made it holy. Here again we see the symbol of Christ as our Sabbath rest-the holy, perfect Son of God who sanctifies and makes holy all who believe in Him. God sanctified Christ, just as He sanctified the Sabbath day, and sent Him into the world (John 10:36) to be our sacrifice for sin. In Him we find complete rest from the labors of our self-effort, because He alone is holy and righteous. "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21). We can now cease from our spiritual labors and rest in Him, not just one day a week, but always.
      Hebrews 4 is the definitive passage regarding Jesus as our Sabbath rest. The writer to the Hebrews exhorts his readers to “enter in” to the Sabbath rest provided by Christ. After three chapters of telling them that Jesus is superior to the angels and that He is our Apostle and High Priest, he pleads with them to not harden their hearts against Him, as their fathers hardened their hearts against the Lord in the wilderness. Because of their unbelief, God denied that generation access to the holy land, saying, “They shall not enter into My rest” (Hebrews 3:11). In the same way, the writer to the Hebrews begs his readers not to make the same mistake by rejecting God’s Sabbath rest in Jesus Christ. “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience” (Hebrews 4:9-11).
      There is no other Sabbath rest besides Jesus. He alone satisfies the requirements of the Law, and He alone provides the sacrifice that atones for sin. He is God’s plan for us to cease from the labor of our own works. We dare not reject this one-and-only Way of salvation (John 14:6). God’s reaction to those who choose to reject His plan is seen in Numbers 15. A man was found gathering sticks on the Sabbath day, in spite of God’s plain commandment to cease from all labor on the Sabbath. This transgression was a known and willful sin, done with unblushing boldness in broad daylight, in open defiance of the divine authority. “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp’” (verse 35). So it will be to all who reject God’s provision for our Sabbath rest in Christ. “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3).

    Lol.....Mathews genealogy contradicts Luke’s......if Jesus is born from a virgin then the Joseph genealogy is irrelevant. It’s called GENEology for a reason. If Jesus isn’t his son......it’s irrelevant.
    Another point is quite funny...........how in the world do they have a geneology to begin with? People today can barely trace their geneology back 500 years.....but Jesus......all the way to Adam and Eve? .......yeah sure. Paper wouldn’t last......and births were not registered.....but somehow they got a geneology all the way back. Absurd

    By the way, everything which we know about Jesus and his disciples, the genealogies, the fulfillment of prophecies, the miracles, the resurrection, the martyrdoms, everything is only know to us based on the writings of a handful believing Christian propagandists who lived in the century or so after Jesus. In other words, it has no credibility any more than miraculous stories about Joseph Smith or Mohammed have any credibility.
