    Outstanding helpful review. However, I would like to know how this gimbal functions in terms of it's wireless or wired communication between itself and a camera, especially the A6600. Have you shot using the gimbal controls to take pictures using the RX100 or Sony A6600? Any problems? Thanks!

    Props to you for making me want the gimbal from your test footage! I came from a larger gimbal and have been eyeing on this for professional use, and most of the reviews I see have really jittery and bouncy footage which made me really iffy about this. It really shows how gimbals really need mastery to produce good footage.

      @@iphoneographers Is the ronin SC really smoother than the g6max because of the motors or is it because of the weight of the gimbal that makes it less bouncy? I use a fuji xt30 btw with some vintage lenses and a samyang 24 1.4. Thanks!

    While I think the G6 Max is overall minor superior to the G6 Plus, there‘s no way to have the side wheel direction reversed with the G6 Max by now.
    The option is coupled to the joystick settings for the Plus and has been omitted for the Max. It dives me quite nuts as I intuitively move the pitch into the wrong direction, messing up a lot of shots.
    Quick Canon M6 MkII Tipp: You‘ll have to enable Canon’s CCAPI within your cam in order to make the G6 Max connect via wifi. There‘s a CCAPI desktop activation tool available after signing in to Canon‘s developer community.

    Blake, your honest approach to your reviews (this being the 3rd I have watched of yours), builds trust. It is sincere and I believe is fair to both the consumer and the retail company of the product. I have just subscribe to your channel. After this review of the G6 Max, I do not think it is what I am looking for and it is not because of all its qualities, capabilities, robust build an special features, rather It is a performance issue. After watching several reviews I feel the motion around walking is just not as good as other units. As you know I work with in a Real Estate application, walls, stairs, counters are unforgiving. Even with the Ninja walk they can all be very unforgiving, so the more a gimbal brings to the field the better. If FeiyuTech worked in a little bit more warp stabilization to their motors, this would be in my arsenal. Regardless, I thank you for your help and for the time you take to make these reviews. You deserve to get the advertising dollar for all the time you put into your evaluation. Best Mark

    Nice review. Your thoughts on the Max's internal battery lifespan with regular use (without a removable battery this could be a longevity problem). Can you now adjust and save the motor adjustments with the app or right on the gamble itself with this new model.Thanks

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Motor adjustments are in the app, but haven’t played with that much yet (it’s possibly on the OLED too, but don’t recall seeing it). The battery seems to be very good and lots of gimbals are going this way now. Hard to predict longevity, but don’t think it’s much of an issue as it’s years of use.

      I was able to mount and use my heavy dslr with 24 mm prime lens. But because it is heavy, some sudden movements will result in the gimbal losing its orientation quickly and the whole thing starts vibrating no matter how well balanced the camera is. I think it works great for mirror less cameras that weigh less than 1.7 pounds. That's the sweet spot.. between 1.5 Lbs. And 1.7 Lbs.

    Blake, love your thoughtful reviews/information. I have a question I haven't seen asked or answered anywhere with respect to these FeiyuTech gimbals and the Crane M2. Is it possible to plug in an external mic through the lightning port on an iPhone once mounted on them? I currently use an Osmo 3 and the lightning port remains accessible. I'd like to upgrade to a greater-payload gimbal (because of the use of Moment cases/lenses +filters) but everything I've seen seems to suggest that the lightning port is completely obstructed once an iPhone is mounted to one of these gimbals. thanks ~Rob

    If I was looking for a first gimbal possibly I'd go for the Max, but I have no regrets selling my G6 Plus, terrible after sale's support.Updating the gimbal through wifi and app was extremely risky as many users have had their G6 rendered inoperable, and trying to update firmware via pc or mac was mind blowing to a ridiculously complex procedure (I gave up trying) and that was after waiting forever and ever for a firmware release.
    I'm much happier with the Weebill S

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @ahmadfaimaq
      @ahmadfaimaq 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have been wondering if the Weebill S or the other camera gimbals, such as the Ronin SC, can actually be used only for filming with a smartphone somehow instead of an SLR or a mirrorless camera. Any idea to make it work ? The reason being they are bigger and heavier and can damp the vibrations more. Plus they can take more weight of the accessory lenses and filters and whatnot. I tries to look everywhere for such an info but couldn't find anything, probably because it's simply not possible perhaps ? Please let me know if there's a way to make it work. Thanks. @Twizzian M @iPhoneographers

    Thanks for the overview. How would you compare this to the Zhiyun Crane M2? I just picked it up to use with my iPhone 11. I attached a Ulanzi tpu case, an anamorphic lens and Tiffen variable ND filter. This lens and filter combo is heavy and I can only properly balance the gimbal by taping coins (temp fix) to the underside of the quick release plate. (no place to mount my counterweight kit) Yes, I balanced it properly but I run out of room to make adjustments. The issue is that its really top heavy. With that said, It does fly well and carries the weight. I tried the Zhiyun Smooth Q2 thinking I could make it work but it was a no go with the weight. I am thinking the added payload capacity of this would be better...Thoughts?

      Personally like this gimbal better. Had a better overall experience, probably because of the payload capacity. Regarding smartphones being top-heavy in these gimbals - did you try inverting the iPhone so that the lens was in lower right position rather than upper left? One thing I find appealing about this type of gimbal compared to others made specifically for smartphones is that there doesn’t seem to be the issue of the arm getting in the view with wide angle or fisheye lenses from moment.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, have definitely done that. Just depends on the set up. But overall once you figure out the balancing it’s not really an issue. Especially with this particular gimbal. And you are correct that the arm is clear, so these are better in that respect for sure. This gimbal gets a big thumbs up.

    Hello there, i am a moment lens user, i have all of them also the 62mm adapters with the gobe cpl, gobe uv filter and the gobe 52mm variable nd filter. Right now, i use the osmo mobile 2, with the 120 grams moment counterweight, but for all of that i already mentioned, its just a lot for it. I think that this g6 max could be a great choice but there’s the ronin sc... what do you suggest? Thank you. Btw, great videos, I have been a subscriber since two years ago.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both solid options and both work well. The DJI app is better so if you like those kind of things go that route and it holds more weight. The G6 Max is smaller and less expensive and holds a great amount for its size & cost. If you have the budget probably go DJI, but if not the G6 Max is very good. Thanks for watching and subbing!

    • @FrankMontilla
      @FrankMontilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have not actually mounted a phone on that particular gimbal, so can’t really answer that. :) The G6 Max was ok mounting but those phone setups are top heavy and so it can sometimes be somewhat challenging at first, but easier later - and you might need a counterweight depending on the accessories you use.

    • @FrankMontilla
      @FrankMontilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      iPhoneographers i am no one to tell you how to do your work, but if there’s any chance that we ( the audience) can see a video about mounting a phone with moment lenses and filters ( or sandmarc or beastgrip) on the ronin sc, that would be really helpful. There’s no video about it in all youtube... once again, thank you so much for your time. Please, continue with this great work. My channel is transforming right now, because i also want to teach the latin-american audience how to make awesome vids with the phone and some accesories. Correct me if im wrong but iPhones have built in image stabilization that you can`t turn off. And if you turn off the image stabilization you will get a better result but i understand that this video is for people that buy this gimbal to get stable footage but if you wanna get professional looking footage you need to turn off the stabilization in the phone. And i got the Freevision Vilta M for my Gopro Hero 5 and i got the best stabilization with built in stabilization off on the Gopro.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      iPhones have OIS on the wide & tele you can’t turn off, but the ultra wide does not (it’s has EIS). But for best results we almost always leave stabilization on with phones and traditional cameras when using gimbals.

    I wish you wouldn't have dismissed the phone setup so fast . watch this video @iU6w he talks about how most of the gimbal's for phones are very light and most bigger phones are over the max weight so he said to go with a small camera size . and it seems that weight is a very important to make them work as they should without over loading the motors which makes since . If something can be to heavy then can something be to light ? If you put a lighter weight phone on a gimbal that is made for a small cameras will you be able to balance it ? What are the weights that will work for the g6 plus ? Its the next size in weight up from the phone weights that are to weak . So you have to make the phones work on the G6 and it would have been nice to see how you make it work . Will you make a video showing how to make the G6 work on bigger phones ?
