@@JulianMellor it’s like all the tension of keep the arm straight keep your head on the ball to much information when all you do is relax no one can do that with a hundred variables going through your head.
Great to get a refresher reminder to do it right. Its so easy to fall into bad habits and you cant work it out while you are playing exept you know something is wrong. Thanks Julian.
I was hoping that you would talk about starting your hips first. When I watch your swing, it seems like your hips and arms start together. Nice smooth swing, though. Thanks for the video.
Starting with the hips first is linked to more of an arm swing, the most common type of swing. Hips, shoulders and arms together is more typical of a low handicap / tour player, the most unique style is minimal hip turn with more shoulder turn. A bit like John Rahm very difficult to do but extremely powerful
Great content Julian. I'd like to ask you a question if I may. When I was growing up I was always tought to have a repeatable grooved golf swing. Predictable ball flight. Do you think there is anything wrong with deliberately pulling the golf ball. Example,, aim 30 yards right or45 degrees right. But clubface points down the target line. Deliberately pull the ball back onto the target line with square clubface. This sounds unorthodox but would it work...?? The ball doesn't know how your swinging. It reacts to face and path. What do you think. Thanks David
Hi David, that’s an interesting comment and in certain circumstances I have done exactly that. It obviously requires practice to perfect it and you may lose some distance but if it works that’s ok by me .
Hi Julian! Love your videos. I have a cheeky question. Love to know your views descriptively or do you have any video on this would love to watch? In my practice swing i have more hips close, chest close, more shallow(inside) right path like severe draw but in actual swing with ball , mind compensates with hips, shoulders open, left path for hitting straight shot till impact and then in follow through also the swing path goes to the right till one moment before finish. and then it goes to normal at last and manages to get a straight shot. Because if it replicates practice swings then I can miss the ball. In other words at practice the swing club is more behind at the delivery position and in actual swing the club is more outside at the delivery position. I think if I fix this open move in Actual swing by making a close move with my body then I am doing the wrong fix. Because it is fake open. So If I Fix like a severe draw move (which happens in practice swing) By making my Hips more open in downswing then it is the right fix. But not sure. Do you see such pattern ? How do you fix this?
Hi Norman, that all sounds like there is a bit going on there, not easy to answer without seeing what’s actually happening. Think what I’d recommend is booking a consultation with me so we can work through these things and correct what’s actually happening. Easy to book in with me via www.Propergolfingsim.com on the remote session. I’m certain I can help you with this issue. Kindest regards, Julian
Great video Julian! But I was wondering, is this still the easiest swing that you used to teach in relation with what Brian Sparks taught you or is this a personnal adaptation of the easiest swing?
It’s still based around the Easiest Swing with a bit more of an understanding of how the set up should be and how the arms and hands work in the swing that’s all.
Julian gives clear, easy to follow advice which I like. Golfers like me need simple recommendations rather than trying to work out what to do. Gifted musicians & golfers almost play well without a lot of advice . With golf small faults are hard to know what is the actual problem. It keeps Julian & cheerful Jo busy for the average player. Julian has really helped me improve despite being 80 years old.
Booking coming in for playing lessons, 1-1 short game lessons and 6 month programs. Serious golfers don’t hope they get better they work at their games 👍 If you’d like to start your new journey message me and let’s get started julian@propergolfing.com

Thanks Jerry, it’s so true that bad habits creep up on us and we don’t even know it 👍
Many many thanks.
You’re very welcome 👍
Great video Julian. Thanks.

@Julian Mellor - Proper Golfing When I watch Nelly, her lower body seems to start her down swing. I realize that she is way more flexible than I am.

Very good video. So you think about an arm movement rather than using a shift of the hips on the downswing?
Thanks
Regards David
Yes, David. The hips often lead to poor shoulder movement which causes swing path issues.
