  • Join us for a run up Billy Goat Bluff. This is one of many iconic trails in the Victorian high country and a trail many dirt bike riders and 4x4 groups travel to the Dargo area to do.
This video is intended to help people see the track if they are planning a visit, to help prepare.
The trail itself is very long however when people refer to Billy Goats they are typically talking about the ~7km section that rises from the Wonnangatta River to the peak before the link track. On a clear day the views are next level and when you pass through the tight ridge line at the top, well it’s a feeling that does not get old, no matter how many times you visit.
The track is not suited to beginner riders and many mid level riders don’t make it up the track and it’s not uncommon to see riders exhausted and turning back while on the mountain. It’s important to understand your skill level before attempting.
If in a 4x4 and you find the first section difficult, the helipad is you last turn around point. If you proceed past the helipad you are committed to head up the hill. Be prepared.
The track is very steep in sections and is rocky, with lose sections at various points along the way. The clump gets steeper the closer you get to the top. In all the climb will give you vertical gain of ~1200m over 7km. This will give you an idea of how steep it is.
This climb is a lot of fun in the wet but ultra slippery and I strongly suggest you try it in the dry first.
Plenty more to write about, but I’ll let you get to the video.
    Enjoy.
