Nobody mention Jimmy. I was wondering why I loved this guy. I do know he passed away at 42 I believe. So Heartbreaking. The song kiss you all over was never the same when someone else sang it. He sang it . I loved it and loved watching him. I know he passed in the hospital with Hepatitis. Heartbreaking I believe it was in Aug. He deserves recognition. ❤❤❤❤
I was fortunate enough to see Exile as a Rock Band with Jimmy Stokely...... They opened up for Styx, at that time.... Excellent show... I bought their first album after I heard them.. Very Good.... I also liked them as a Country band I would likt to know more about Stokley, though.. As fas as I could Tell, he was a good front man for the band, at that time.
I will always love Excile - showing my age obviously but I grew up with them - some of my best memories are of them practicing in the garage in Kentucky. They played my high school “sock hops” as we called them!
Well he passed away in 1985, but they never speak of him. I've heard that he was losing his voice, and also couldn't get along with the producer. It gives you the impression that possibly there was some bad blood between him and the band after the success in 1978. The band probably wouldn't say.
@@kathrync2534 Yes he was, I never finished the book. I sent it back. Jimmy does have fan page on facebook if you would like to check it out. Its called "Friends Who Like Jimmy Stokley (Kiss You All Over)" There is 1,000 members now. I think you would enjoy it. Also there are old photo's of Jimmy and some songs to hear that he sang.
I too think he should of been the frist band singer they mentioned. That's Heartbreaking and if they didnt put him in the book that more Heartbreaking too. I know he passed away at 42 in the hospital from Hepatitis. He deserves recognition.
I started reading this book. When I got to the part where they were talking about Jimmy in the book, I literally got sick. I can't even finish it, it is so disheartening as it seems like they had it in for him in the beginning saying all kinds of things. This book centers around a lot on JP for some reason. I know he is the sole survivor of the original band, however sometimes I wonder if he didn't have an agenda for getting rid of Jimmy and there were so many who didn't last long. Now that they're older might as well keep what you got. This is what I am seeing from reading different sections from the book. I am just heart sick over it all. Jimmy was the band and always will be. The song "Kiss Me" is Jimmy's song and he owned it because it did belong to him. This book is more of a bio on JP in my opinion.
Maybe he was just a bad egg, if I showed up to work drunk and drugged out of my head I would get fired also. Maybe there are things you don't ow about, drunks do weird shit, he was supposedly gay, maybe he made passes at band members. Som you are not pricey to their experience. Chill out.

Jimmy Stokley. I believe. I just loved him. He passed at 42 with Hepatitis in the Hospital. These guys should of brought his name up. The song kiss you all over wasnt the same with another singer singing it . It was in 1978. He passed at 42 at a later date. I love this guy.

Just because Pennington wrote a few songs that c& w singers made hits he wanted to go country while it seems Jimmy Carr Stokley who actually founded this band stayed with soft rock! 2 big hits toured all over but was kicked out! These peeps still singing the 2 songs he made famous for & have never had a hit!! Karma baby!! I think the C & W hits were by a single singer not gonna work for a band DUH!
Those songs were written as pop songs, when Exile were still a pop band and Stokley was already out at that point. It was later when various country artists recorded them they easily transitioned into a country band. They had 10 #1 hits on Country radio that still get played and Exile are still a successful live act.

You had mentioned in the book.

I can not found anything on him. I guess he was a private person
I recently heard "Give Me One More Chance" on the 97.7 radio here in Ky. Fine song, and the harmonies by JP, Les and Sonny is incredible.

U forgot about Jimmy he made that band
No mention of Jim Stokley? He had a rough life! May he RIP!
Jimmy ❤❤!!
When will someone do a bio on James Stokley? It's almost like he didn't exist. Why?

Steve Goetzman, Marlon Hargis and Sonny LeMaire. All three of these guys are on the Mixed Emotions album, which features Kiss You All Over.
Has anyone ever heard thier song called mary on the beach?
Who was the singer of original video ? What’s his name ?
Its very sad about Jim as he was a sight to see to die so young of a horrible illness I wonder if anyone will do something to honour him after 37yrs
