Riding a new horse is so so hard. It's always a huge learning curve to just learn their personality undersaddle and learn what their limits are. You did AMAZING, please don't feel like you did a bad job or that you have to justify why you rode how you did. It's always better to play it safe than be sorry in the hospital
The grey gene is so cool, I had no idea she was grey until you showed her tail, she looked all bay until looking closer. She'll be transformed in a few years! She's gorgeous though, I definitely see Jam in her. Great riding too😁
I had forgotten how wobbly youngster are ! We are just backing mine at the moment. I’m getting on after she has been turned away! 😬 all of this to come
Fantastic job. You are seeing a benefit of homebreds: you see how they develop and behave like their parents. This helps you as a breeder, owner, and trainer as well as allowing you to provide insight to purchasers of the ponies you produce if you sell them.
She has a lovely free movement so don't shorten her up too much as a youngster, be confident kind and firm if needs be, I think you have bred a cracking youngster, can't wait to see progress xx
So in love with Winnie already. She is stunning and you could so tell she was happier and more forward out and about with you. She will certainly be another gem in the making Meg, with all your love, patience, hard work and determination. Look forward to seeing both your journey's together ❤️
Ooh, you could get super lucky & Winnie might be a rare supressed grey (also referred to as grey inhibitor)! The most well known are a line of PRE horses (Comico IV, Comico VI being the most famous & easily googled- there are others but you have to dig to find them- both stallions had barely greyed out & had some amazing dapples forming in their mid to late teens despite being mostly bay coloured still), but there are also at least one or 2 lines of Connemaras that have delayed/suppressed grey as well (Canal Laurinston was one apparently & I've seen pictures of a 30yr old connie who was maybe only a third to halfway through the greying process at his ripe old age). It will be amazing to watch her mature if she does have grey inhibitor... Will also be interesting to see if she develops dapples or if she just slowly roans out- although she'll probably end up with a big following based on how many people love the look of dapple greys if she does go dappled, since she could potentially go & stay paused in the dapple grey stage for a good 20+ years if she does have delayed greying lol.
I’ve been thinking about her recently! So exciting! Would love to see a meet my horses video as I can’t remember who all you do and don’t have. Just introducing your ponies where they are in training and long and short term plans with them. So glad Winnie is home!!!
She's so beautiful sweet filly face ❤️😍 she's definitely a beautiful roan right now ! It will be interesting to see her colour progress She's still has a lot to grow to , or fill out..I love her stride !
Aww Whinnie looks lovely, Becky has done an incredible job with her! I’m so excited for her future! I loved watching you ride her for the first time, you can tell Whinnie loves her hacking❤️❤️
Oh Winnie Woo, such a gorgeous girl. Becky did wonders with her. As you said, It’s ok to be more scared with age and wisdom;) I used to be super brave and I had a nasty fall that left me with a semi paralysed foot and I don’t ride horses I don’t know anymore. (Will be a problem since I have 2 unbroken youngsters 😅) you rode her well
I’m excited for you Megan. I crossed my warm blood mare to a welsh cob and remember that same feeling. The mixed emotions of the first ride at the breakers…it was what I hoped and more! I can’t wait to watch your progress together
Wow she is really becoming an interesting color. 🥰 Great job Meg, I love how you always work with your ponies and let them go at their pace and abilities.
Whinnie has always been one of my favorite of your ponies! I have a feeling she’ll be very special and it’s so exciting to see the first step in this new chapter of your journey with her🥰🥰
Wow Meg, Winnie has a beautiful trot (going over the poles the first time, she was so careful). She has such natural potential, congratulations 👏. Becks is amazing. What a journey ahead of you & Winnie🤗
Ombg Meg I’m so So So Happy that you’ve finally got on whinnie. Thank you for sharing your amazing journey wishing you the best of luck of the future and I can’t wait to see your eventing again with them. Good luck for badder entry. Love you Meg ✨❤️
She looks great those little pig roots are nothing considering your saddle would be heavier and you probably are a little heavier than Becks so whinnie did really well and clearly love hacking out - you two are going places 🤩
I still don't think she's grey! lol Maybe there is a roan gene hiding under the grey in Jam? Whatever it is, it's unique. I don't think I've ever seen a grey change like she has before. Oddly enough, I just started noticing my 2yo Irish Draught colt has the same white ticking on his flank. He's a chestnut but his mom was a grey. He's definitely NOT a grey.. but I just don't know where the ticking is coming from. Must be something in the water in Ireland! (He is US bred but parents were imported.) Maybe it's Gulastra Plume? REGARDLESS -- How fun! I'm so excited for Winn to be home and backed! It's going to be a blast to watch her mature as a riding horse!
Whinnie looks amazing Meg, Becks had done an incredible job with her. I never doubted she was going to go grey, the signs were there. I remember seeing a little grey in tail last year.
So glad Whinnie is home, another great job by Becks . Cannot wait to see how she progresses over the coming months and years. Yes she is going to be grey 😍
Todays vlog put a much needed big smile on my face today ☺️ can’t wait to do this in 4 years time with mine and I’m hoping you’ll still be vlogging so we can see Etties journey too 😅
It was very cute when Ettie met whinny and I was surprised that milly actually let whinny see Ettie! Ps.I love your videos and you are why I started horse riding
How beautiful is she, and u too of course Meg 💖 lol. I really am looking forward to seeing how she goes. Bex really knows what they need and seems so lovely. Will be nice her coming down to yrs as she can see Ari and Ettie too xx
@@TheJumpingGymnast when Meg was trotting her 😊 notice how she does a funny weird bob/flick with her legs it's her changing her trot to suit Meg's diagonal
Shoulder high is better. So they carry themselves up wards.. unless your showing type is different. They drive more in their movements and trip/stumble more.
She is a nice natural mover, you have a lot to work with in the coming years 😉 I love Jam but I have looked back at her beginning videos 😬 Let's just say she passed on her best to her daughter not the potato part
Winnie is a beauty. Is it unusual for a bay to turn grey? I saw the white spots and the hunk of grey in her tail. Maybe she'll become a red roan with points. Either way , she'll always be a looker. Congrats on your first ride. Well done. 💜🐎😎
So if your going to ride in a saddle that doesn’t fit of course they are going to buck. It’s pinching and rubbing. Little like putting pants on that are way too tight with a belt and running around. Or a coat that’s way too small and trying to do everyday things. But it can also cause a soar back. And at times honest horses will buck to stretch their backs when it gets really tight. Like working out and u get a cramp so u stop and stretch your leg. So her Bucking like that was probably because she was very uncomfortable, especially because she is just now getting use to getting worked with a saddle. I don’t recommend riding in a unfitted saddle it’s only going to cause issues and set u back more. And make your horse unhappy and in pain. It’s worth the money to get the saddle fitted, and any horse owners responsibility to do. You buy a horse u make a promise to make that horse comfortable and not put it in these positions. (This isn’t a hate comment, it’s just a educational comment) a half pad may help if that’s something you have and would be cheaper

It's so refreshing seeing how honest you are about being nervous. This reminds me so much of myself!
What an awseome first ride for you and Whinnie!

She is really a beautiful mare. Beautiful head and neck. Nice hip. Excited to see her after a couple years of work.

She's in herited thr grey gene from her Dam. Some just don't grey out quickly. Roans are born Roan.
@@juliaforsyth8332 Thank you for info. I just thought the bay/brown gene would dominate. I didnt know roans were born roans. Kool. Again TY 😎
