That is a neat machine. I have only ever wrapped a few turroids with 20-50 wraps of heavy wire for power filter applications. Then I test thw coil on an LCR meter till it is about the value called for. But maybe someday I will wrap my own transformer.
I mostly use it for restoration work where the coils or transformers are odd and there are no modern equivalents or if I want to retain the character of the equipment I am restoring. I used to rewind by hand but rewinding something like a blocking transformer that has many thousands of turns is VERY tedious but this machine almost makes it fun. In the next video I will demonstrate wave winding and it then really starts to show its value because you cannot do that by hand. Unfortunately the machine cannot do that from the factory so I had to modify it but without it quite a few old pieces of equipment I restored would have had to be scrapped.
@@edgeeffect Well I just have a ~$10 one I got from eBay. It is one of the clones based on a 328 chip. For my uses it has worked fine. One I had failed, but they are so cheap you can just get a new one and be back to component testing.

19:38 - Is it really hard for you to program a decent code just to slow down the coiling process so that there is no burden to stop the reel coil manually by hand, or even better, implement a mechanism to do it for you?
The reels vary from 50g to 2kg so a single code would not work. As I say in the video I normally use a wire tensioner which takes care of that but I did not show it in the video as the video was about the CNC winding machine and I did not want to complicate it with the tensioner. Also not everyone would have a tensioner.
Yes you absolutely can. I have used a lathe in the past to wind coils. I would not wind anything thicker than I could easily snap for obvious reasons (my lathes are all big and getting pulled into one would ruin my shirt) and the results are not as good as a CNC winding machine but it beats hand winding. However for really fine wire, forget it.
Why does CNC UK charge so much for machines like this, when 3d printers with much more complicated firmware and more motors and parts cost in the sub 500$ range. Yet even UKCNC's tiny pickup winder is 900usd.
You would have to ask them but in my experience it is far easier to make a profit when selling 50,000 3D printers which are based on commonly available parts than it is to design and sell a small number of custom built machines.
If you do not like my style of videos then you are not being forced to watch. Not everything has to be tailored specifically for you, dude. Maybe you should take the time and effort and try actually making videos of your own instead of just complaining.
