    Installing crash protection components on your bike has a lot of pros and cons so we address that in this episode to better assist you with deciding which is the route you want to take. We also look forward to hitting the track again and getting around to our WORX package. (no pun intended)

    My MT-03 got dropped on the left side like you had it in this video (I got rear ended at a red light). The rod that extends from the kick stand hit the ground and bent the flat "foot" of the kickstand upwards. Also, I had spool sliders on the swingarm. That was longer than a non-slider spool and on this bike is screwed into a small lobe on the bottom of the swing arm. Therefore, the spool bent upwards and bent the surface of the swingarm itself...so the slider spool actually ended up mandating a replacement of the entire swing arm. I will be putting on spools once the bike is repaired, but not with sliders, which I think are proven to create too much torsional leverage against the swing arm structure.
    I wish I'd had sliders for the engine area, as all of my tank plastic was banged up. The stock clutch lever was snapped in half, too.
    To your point, all crashes will be different, but I do feel pretty convinced that if you put spools on an MT-03, you are better off with shorter "non-slider" versions.

      Oh, my shift level also got bent inwards, in turn bending the shift linkage. The fire department had to use a huge screwdriver to straighten the shifter enough for me to be able to ride it home.

    Stock rear sets fold up which exposes the foot levers to damage. I've had a minor drop on the left side and it folded the gear selector under the adjuster. Luckily it's fairly easy to bend back into position.

    I tested your womet tech crash protection, not on porpouse, but i have to say: It worked GREAT, my bike had no damage beyond the crash sliders.

    Tip for any who have troubles. If you’re unable to pick your bike up, turn around and dead lift it. You can use your weight and lean into it to get it up.

    I have this bike in black and I love it. The only thing it needs are those frame sliders. I think a new exhaust to liven the bike up a bit will be a good investment too.

    Why would you want foldable foot rests instead of breakaway? What advantages in track or road do they each have I was a little curious since you talked about it.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Foldable rearsets are good for the road as if you go down, your footrests can fold up allowing you to potentially ride away. On the other hand, having a foldable rearset on the track can lead to issues and errors when shifting and braking and also when trying to get your body position right. Both have pros and cons.

    They should call it drop protection instead of crash protection. I really doubt much will help protect the bike from an actual CRASH. 🤔

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Crash protection components do not prevent damage. They decrease the severity of damage sustained in a crash.

    Great video! Is this crash protection compatible with 2017 MT03?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  ปีที่แล้ว

      We did not have that model in our market until 2020. I believe the pre 2020 MT03 was in fact a different motorcycle, so at least the frame sliders fit would be questionable on that 2017

      @@TSTindustries I understand that every crash is different. Not all frame sliders are made equal. If you have single point attachment then all the weight is on that point. I personally would never recommend frame sliders that attach to one point. It’s better to let it fall without the frame slider than having a bent frame any day. Frame sliders that have two connection points are night and day compared to the single point.
