    A really nice video. Grew up in White Plains since I was 12. Moved away in 1999. Great to see the city is still looking great. I LOVED growing up there. It had everything, without the violence and nonsense. Close to NYC, but just far enough away too...LOL. I heard recently that the Galleria mall was finally closing. Great memories there. Once again, a great vid.

    I love this city. It was and will always be my home. The best memories of my life happened here. Mamaroneck avenue elementary school. The galleria mall. Magnottas pizza. Everything was perfect.

      Yeah, I've been to this city a few times now, and I like its walkability, it has some nice parks and plazas, and it's easy and convenient to get to NYC by train. Definitely seems like a nice place to live. Thanks for watching!

    The galleria hasn’t been demolished?

    • @walkingdrivingincognito
      @walkingdrivingincognito  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't been back since I took this video last summer, so not sure if the demolition has started yet. I heard on the news a few months ago that they were planning on redeveloping the site.

    How far is the drive from WP to NYC

    • @walkingdrivingincognito
      @walkingdrivingincognito  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It could vary widely depending on what part of NYC you're going to and how much traffic there is, but I would guess maybe an hour and a half on average to get to Midtown Manhattan.

      @@walkingdrivingincognito what about the most northern part of queens

    • @walkingdrivingincognito
      @walkingdrivingincognito  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@matuu888 Northern Queens is actually pretty big too, I would guess maybe an hour to somewhere like Flushing? There can be a lot of traffic congestion on those highways in Queens too during the busy hours. But Google Maps can also give you some pretty good estimates of how long it would take.

      @@walkingdrivingincognito No, if you drive to downtown Manhattan on a Sunday or non traffic hours you can reach Manhattan from White Plains @ 1 Hour, unless you take 87 south. If you want to go to the Bronx it's like 10 minutes without traffic.

    Hi everyone, a genuine Question. Am planning on moving from europe the netherlands to new york
    White plains. Is it a nice place to live? Am so scared cause everyone here tells me how bad America is.
    I could really use some honest answers from new yorkers or Americans their self. 🥹

      Thanks! Really glad to hear you enjoy my videos! I hope it's useful. I've only been to White Plains about three times and it seemed like a safe area at least to me. That being said, there are parts of the NYC area that I personally believe are less safe than White Plains, and I would imagine less safe than The Netherlands. I have never been to the Netherlands, and I haven't been to Europe in the past 7 years, so it's hard for me to say what exactly the perception of the US and the NYC area is over there and whether it reflects the reality on the ground.
      I do think though that there are a lot of differences between US and Netherlands. From what I hear, the Dutch are used to living in places that are easy to walk around and they also like to ride a lot of bikes. Those kinds of places are harder to find in the USA, especially in the suburban areas, where people mostly drive. So that's another aspect of living in the USA that may be difficult to get adjusted to for someone from Europe---thats just one cultural distinction but I'm sure there could be others. Anyway, hope that info is helpful and good luck with your move!

      @@Amber_sea989 Hey NYC and America is not that bad, yes you'll find crime everywhere, White Plains is a middle class area, priecy but clean, no ghetto, no gangs, the police patrol the area very well. Very clean place, I grew up in the South Bronx in the 70's I would never tell you to visit there, now it's gotten better, many people bash NYC, just don't wear jewelry, be respectful you'll be OK. Most of the crime is gange related and drugs, rarely someone will rob you unless they know you have money, you'll love White Plains NY.
