Hey! I want everyone to know this fine gentleman helped me actually get my rocks to gem finish! His videos and knowledge ended 3 years of frustration and disappointment. My gem finish tigers eye, jaspers, quartz, labradorite and so on are because of you! You rock!
The labradorite isn't as good as the harder rocks. I still get chalky streak lines, but it isn't breaking up chipping or coming out a completely chalky ball. My next move is to get more and try tumbling only labradorite in a load on polish stage instead of mixing it in with other rocks. You lose so much material through out the process that by the time you get polish stage you need more of it to fill the tumbler or you have to mix it with other rocks. I didn't have more so I had to mix. If that awesome aluminum oxide doesn't work in a pure load of labradorite I'm going to try ground walnut shells.

Fantastic video and beautiful green stone! I have to say that I love watching you cut out your ornament, turtle and other shapes on the saw. You are the master and you make it look so easy to get the shapes cut basically perfectly to the outline. Watching you do it with time sped up was really cool! Everything looks beautiful too. Those cabs sure do have a gorgeous polish on them. What size is your loto tumbler? Just curious. Thanks so much for sharing this Rob!✌️🤠🤟
Thanks, Kyla. Cutting shapes on the saw isn't difficult, you just have to go slow at first. Turtles are probably the most time consuming thing I do. All those indentations between the legs, the head and the legs, and the tail and the legs are pretty time consuming. That video was sped up 20 times. I have a single barrel Lot-O. They don't really come in different sizes, just single or double barrel.
I think they're my favorite thing that I make. I have four that I've kept for myself all with different shells. I have a Petoskey, a Charlevoix stone (favosites), a pink rock, and one made of cladopora fossil.
Hi again! 👋 I went to your Amazon store but didn't see an affiliate link for that cool little Dewalt clamp? I did, however, see the Dremel Drill Press so I'll be getting that soon once I figure out where I can mount that thing. 😂
My son is a quadriplegic, for Christmas we got him a national geographic tumbler. We wanted him to have success, because this is just about the only thing he can physically do, even if it is just to push a few stones into a tumbler. Watching your videos has shown us how we can give him a good experience with something he is interested in. He has always collected stuff, and has a little rock collection. I wish I could have shown the world how excited he was to take his rocks out of the tumbler for the first time. I know it is a small but fun thing to most people, but to him, and us, it is the world. Just wanted you to know how important you and your video's are to someone.
I'm not an emotional person, but that nearly brought a tear to my eye. I just like rocks and really enjoy making them into something or just polishing them. I wanted to share that with other people, but never stopped to think about just who I was talking to. Thank you for sharing this with me. It's stuff like this that keeps me going.
@@MichiganRocks Believe me, we nearly cried too. He is 32, and just has use of one knuckle on his right hand. 32 years of wanting to create something that people would really want and enjoy. You are very important to a little guy in Maine.
I've been following your videos and they've helped with my polished rock's as well, did try to sneak a Gowganda tillite through and wound up with the same results as you the granite polished up pretty well but not the dark. (Thanks again for all your videos helping others)
@@georgestickles9594 I have a friend who has had some success tumbling Gowganda tillite, but my results have all been pretty bad. You could give it another try. They probably vary rock by rock.
I have found quite a few of those rocks myself. I have one with jasper and pyrite in it, some of them I slabbed and man are they beautiful. I have a cottage on Lake Huron near Harbor Beach and o boy do we have the rocks. You would have a field day on our beaches.
I just discovered your channel I'm Belgian I love stones you're close to the sea and I had an incredible amount of them to work with but I had never seen anyone who worked the stone like that that is to say I discover the instruments we can do lots of things I'm really a fan of course I subscribe thank you for making us discover such a marvel
Thanks for the nice comments. I love lambic beer, which is only made in Belgium. It's sort of expensive so I don't drink it often, but I enjoy it when I do.
Those turned out great. I was wondering if the cabbing machine would do better at bringing up a polish. Probably so because of the range of grits on the wheels. But the satin finish on the tumbled pieces still look nice as is. Thank you for sharing this and making it interactive for us by entertaining our suggestions. You do fine work! Question: The dop wax...is this anything like the microcrystalline wax used in the lost wax casting process? 'Cerita' is the only brand of that material I know of. Your dop wax looks like it has more 'gooey' additives in my opinion, unlike Cerita which will totally liquify at certain temps necessary for filling molds.
With a really hard rock, I can probably get a better shine in my tumbler. I'm better at tumbling that cabbing. My wheels only go up to 3,000 grit, while my tumbling grit goes up to something like 8,000 or higher. With a softer rock, I do better on a cabbing machine. I have no idea what the qualities of dop wax are. My only experience with wax is that and candles.
Watching your work makes me want to learn the craft. You make it look so easy. Although, I would most likely loose some fingertips and that’s no bueno, since I type all day. Always good content. Awesome pendants.👍
Most of the tools I use aren’t very dangerous. I should have a belt guard on my saw because that’s probably the most dangerous part. I can put my finger right on the blade while it’s running with no pain or amputations. Cutting with the saw is pretty easy if you just go slow. Making a dome on a pendant and keeping a nice, straight girdle line around the edge takes more practice. You might like this video about the safety of saw blades: th-cam.com/video/Er4YLn4fXUA/w-d-xo.html

I really love your turtles!
I think I just bought that at Home Depot.
Those rocks look like a map. I wonder if you could somehow magically do a Geo search on it. Oh forget that, what you do is awesome!
🙋♀️❤🌲 Very cool! Especially the turtle!
Thanks!
Beautiful beyond words
This was very cool the way that you sped up the footage during cutting. As always great job friend
It would be a long, boring video at actual speed. That was sped up 20x.
@@MichiganRocks it was a perfect video because of your edits brother
Very cool turtle!!! It is all very cool. Great talent you have
Thanks, Todd.
It has been awhile my friend wow wow wow as always amazing beautiful thank you
Glad you're back!
Beautiful work.
Rob, you are sooooo talented!!! Thanks for sharing!! Merry Christmas Rob and Nancy!!! 🎅🏼🥶☃️
Merry Christmas, Kim!
I really enjoy your videos. I think the pendants are so pretty.
Thank you!
Nice work, very nice finished products.
Thanks!
I sprayed it with a clear seal and it looks better but still not as shiny as the rest
That is sych a pretty rock.
I agree. I really like this one.
I have found quite a few of those rocks myself. I have one with jasper and pyrite in it, some of them I slabbed and man are they beautiful. I have a cottage on Lake Huron near Harbor Beach and o boy do we have the rocks. You would have a field day on our beaches.
I have wanted to find a good beach in that area since I haven’t done any videos there. Can you recommend any decent public access spots?
Those are great, the turtle is my favourite
Mine too.
Beautiful 🤩
Another great vid. Good stuff!
Beautiful ❣️🎅🏻
Great job, love that Turtle
Fantastic

Nice job Rob I guess that you are a rock star now 😀
I guess so!
The results are very attractive. Love that green rock. Do you offer these for sale?
Yes, I sell a few things at a local shop. I sell stone crosses, little turtles, guitar picks, beads that fit Pandora bracelets, heart shaped pendants, other pendants, and Christmas ornaments. They don't have an online store, but will work with you if you call or email. olivetbookandgift.com
Almost 100k!
Getting close. I would never have guessed that would happen.
@@MichiganRocks well the people have spoken...great channel!
That material is beautiful
I thought so too.
Thanks so much for sharing! And thank you very much for doing all of the suggestions, it was super cool! I always love the turtles and everything you create, but in particular, great work on the wire wrapping! I am a hobbyist jewelry maker, and have dabbled in wire wrapping-and your work is so clean and precise-just great! Thanks again for sharing all you do, and happy holidays!!!
The problem is, that’s the only kind of wire wrap I know how to make. I should really learn some other ones.
Amazing! ❤❤
Nice!!!
Nice. I silversmith and I think that stone is gorgeous. Would love to work with it.
I liked this rock a lot too. Here's what I did with it: th-cam.com/video/kIJgbsunB3s/w-d-xo.html
