I had no idea this fascinating toy was named an "Oloid," I learn something new everyday!☺ I played with them as a kid in my dad's wood shop. Love this! Thanks for sharing "Rock Bottom" in Ohio.💯✔
Your dad made these? That’s really cool.
@@MichiganRocks yeah out of wood, so much easier to deal with than Stone because if he messed up he could turn it into a top or something else that was fun to play with. But I would love to make them out of stone like yours. Had he not passed away, he would be in his 80's now. With 6 kids they had to keep us entertained,🤣 he was my mentor into my artistic side ☺ "Rock Bottom"
@@margaretpeabody2584 Sounds like you had a great dad. My dad made me kites, and a couple other toys. Have you seen the propeller on a stick that you spin between your hands and it flies up in the air? The other thing that he made that was really cool was a stick with a series of notches along the top and a little propeller on end. You could rub another stick along the notches to make the propeller spin. Then, if you knew the trick, you could make the propeller change directions.
@@MichiganRocks Oh how cool, do yo make them? My favorites were tops, I still have dads tops. ☺ What a great generation our parents came from💗Sending Respect to your parents and good memories!💯✔
"Rock Bottom"
Really cool idea! How satisfying it is in the hand and then rolling it! Yours actually rolled really well! And it looks so cool doing it! great project and great work on it!
It was a really cool idea, but I can't take any credit for that at all. I'm really glad Thomas suggested this because it was fun to make and is a really cool object.
So fun. I'd never heard of an oloid! It turned out great and it is very pretty.
I had never heard of one either. Now I have one of my own!
@@MichiganRocks Lucky you! You worked hard for it. Fun rock to have!
Good luck on your challenge.
🙃☕❤❤
I don't need a lot of luck now that it's done. Are you thinking it's a competition? This is just a fun thing for us to do, not a competition.
@@MichiganRocks it's a cool way to have fun with your beautiful rocks. 🙃☕❤❤
Successful rock & roll! Very cool.
Thanks!
Awesome. Never heard of these but it's very cool. Now I want one lol. Great job
There are places that sell them made out of metal.
Very interesting, never of this before! It's actually really cool! Too much math and engineering for me!😂😂 As always you do an outstanding job and face the challenge head on! Thanks for sharing!
This was a new shape to me too. It was a really fun challenge.
