    Really great video - loved all the different locations - you put a lot of effort in. Bit sad to see so few trains, but it is what it is!

    Thanks for the update. We take so much for granted it is good to be reminded now and again .

    Excellent video as always. Having been on the original service to the chunnel, it's nice to see how HS1 has improved the flow of traffic, if only there was some. Well done 🤓 stay safe 💙

    Ah Folkestone Harbour, this brings back memories. I saw the last steam tour there. I haven't been there since they finished doing the public walk way, got to be honest, I feel a little sad seeing it like that and not with a steamer and rake of mk1 stock, but hey ho. Great video by the way

      We had a lovely week in the area. Rented a seafront apartment in Sandgate for a week in September. Beautiful location with lots to do in the surrounding area.

    Lots of effort gone in here - such great detail and well composed material from different locations. Must pay the area a visit myself. Would love to hear your recommendations to get good shots of the Javelins on the HS1 network!

      I intend to visit the area around Ebbsfleet in the summer. It looks like there are a number of possible vantage points in the area. I tried a couple of years ago by car but parking was a nightmare. Next time I will take my bike.

      My wife and I had a staycation week on the seafront at Sandgate in September. The weather was perfect, apart from the wind on Castle Hill.

    That was a stunning tour/history lesson/film, thank you very much! One thing, was there a restriction in tunnel because last time I came out into England from it, we were accelerating up from the 100mph tunnel limit?

    • @gerrynewnham9932
      @gerrynewnham9932 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think the tunnel is limited to 100mph which is also the top speed of the shuttles. This ensures that all traffic moves at roughly the same speed, which maximises the number of train paths.

    I do like the Southeastern Class 395 Javelins and the Eurostar Class 373 E300 and Class 374 E320. Never been to Folkestone but I have been to Dover once.

    Beatiful video! But why are there nearly no conventional freight trains running through the tunnel? no demand? no space because of the high speed trains?

    • @BoogiesTrains
      @BoogiesTrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rail can't compete with the lorry shuttle on price, reliability or convenience. Trains coming from France have been repeatedly targeted by French protesters and people smugglers. Why risk your cargo being delayed for weeks or destroyed.
      There are some regular workings. Only overnight freight uses HS1 through Kent.
      If you look at RealtimeTrains for the tunnel boundary you will see all the available paths, most of which are never used.

      @@matzk0840 Given the amount of paperwork required for each shipment, and it does have to be printed, and the rigorous examination thereof by French customs, it seems doubtful. One tick in the wrong box in 50000 sheets of paper and the whole train is stopped.

      It was an accidental experiment. My production software had an update and the defaults were reset to this. I didn't notice until too late.
