- I managed to get a World Record in New Zealand in the R5 category over the Ocean Beach stage.

Actually I've just found out that Jon was a consultant for Codies when making Dirt Rally 2! Thanks a lot, Jon! The game is FIRE! And this is in huge part thanks to your input!

he does remind me directly of mark's brother David, I've worked with him quite a bit and its insane how he drives down stage and just calmly talks me thru what he is doing

I like how he's wearing full length fox racing gloves, but he's in his wool socks on the pedals

Love Dirt Rall 2. I always feel like there is too much understeer with the 4WD rally cars though. If you watch real life onboards its clear to see that the cars oversteer on the throttle much more than in DR2. Hope they fix that in the next Dirt Rally game.
Would be sick to see the replay mode!

I tried Dirt 1 with VR. Had to rip it off the first corner I had to break. I seriously almost vomited.
DiRT Rally 2 has VR support on PC only :) Yeah it isn't for everyone, thankfully it doesn't make me sick. Thanks for your comment!
Lock the camera to horizon in dirt rally vr. Makes a huge difference if you’re prone to motion sickness

Congrats! I just bought a FFB wheel and I'm snaking all over the place. With controller I managed a 6:54 on Newhouse Bridge in the Subaru for the achievement. Playing on Xbox. Is it down to practice? I'm a minute slower with wheel 😒. What rotation do you recommend in both rally and rallycross cheers :)
Practice. After a while you'll get better with the wheel than you were with the pad. And not only that, when you go back and try using a pad you'll really struggle with it. You have far more nuanced control over the car with a wheel, nut it takes practice. But it is also down to getting your wheel settings to feel right. I think Jon uses a low wheel range on Dirt Rally 2. He has done a video on his wheel settings.

Hi, im plaIng dr2 in vr with quest2 too, did anyone find out how to solve the bug, which causes the road and everything in front of the car to become one big blur at some times, and the game looking perfectly fine at other times? Thx

Is it possible for you to intervene in the development of dirt rally? Can you give Codemasters Racing a few tips on how to make rallying more realistic? I've also thought a lot about what else can be added.
For me, for example, and I have been following the WRC every year since 1999, Portugal is a classic. The narrow, sweeping routes, wonderful. Or how about San Remo. Or how about copying an earlier season, the 2000 with all WRC cars in all countries
Jon, if there wasnt so much understeer on throttle would you have your steering set at around 540 degrees rotation instead of the lower rotation you have it at? I love the game, but in my opinion Dirt Rally 2.0 would be almost the perfect rally game if there wasn't so much understeer on the throttle in the faster bends. Theres plenty of throttle oversteer on 1st and 2nd gear corners, but on the slightly faster bends the understeer on throttle after you brake into a bend or throw the car in is a killer. Im thinking its because the amount of power you get by pressing the throttle is limited on purpose by the developers, so that casual gamers can also play the game, enjoy it and not get frustrated.

Ok, this was fast but still I am not impressed. In fact I am not impressed by any similar video on YT. Talking and driving in a rally stage means that the track is learned by heart. It ain't rallying any more. It's ralracing. I enjoy much more people who drive nicely while jumping on a rally stage with a virgin state of mind, meaning not knowing stage by heart. Minor mistakes, pure talent and balanced risk vs repeated perfectionism is just more pleasure to watch for me even if they won't hit WR (WR is more clickable though, isn't it), reminds me more of rallying in real life...
You know that everybody has the same conditions in this sim, right ? So even if it's not an unknown track for him, it was not unknown to everybody else, so he has all the merit in getting this WR !
@@blenga2 Can you read with understanding? Like rally drivers care about WRs... Rally is about getting your ass and your car in one piece faster than your rally colleagues. You have two attempts with your co-driver to get known to the stage and one attempt to go as fast as you can. Number of attempts should be limited in DR 2.0 as someone who is world's 100th after one attempt might be actually more talented than someone who is 20th but have been trying 50 times stage+car combo. This was my point. I don't care if the guy has or doesn't have merit. IMHO the whole idea of WRs in current form in a rally sim is flawed.
