  • At a glance the Vevor Binocular Microscope looks just as good as other more expensive microscopes, but how will it perform?

    Thanks for your clear and in-depth review. I've seen a few videos where people said this was great for jewellery work, but I would be using it for electronics (like yourself), and it was good to see that it was fit for my purpose. Cheers!

    They've also got a trionocular but on a basic stand instead of the arm. The optical assembly looks to be the same basic design so might be able to fit it to the arm if one was willing to buy both.

    if you choose a trinocular one ,absolutely choose one with simul focal, so you can record/stream what you see without cut out the left side.
    the vevor one beat the crap of the SE400(from amscope).
    sometimes, you could need to put your microscope outside the area of the desk,something imossible with a static stand.
    the day you choose to do some youtube video, you can keep the vevor stand and change only the microscope head assembly: the price of an articulated stand is so expensive you can consider it(you'll not lose money)

    I would love to see the barlow lens and whether or not that can be replaced to increase magnification

    • @davidh1187
      @davidh1187 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This 'barlow' lens actually reduces magnification by increasing focal distance. If you used a magnifying Barlow lens then you would significantly reduce the focal distance and effectively turn it into a lab microscope with very little working space under the head.

      This is exactly what I want to do! I want to know whether or not I can use this microscope to see Mycelium too in a Petri dish. I mostly do electronics work, but I want to start growing mushrooms.@@davidh1187

    Like the one I got! Did not get a cover or a kitten though. Also I have it set too to swing it out of the way and the sleeve that adjusts the height with the knob, when I swing it out of the way the mount will actually hit the knob, loosening the knob and showing the whole assembly to crash all the way down. Think I’m going to have to either notch the base or grind down the nubs in the knob..

  • @davidh1187

    Better than no microscope. The arm tension is 'adjustable' to a point but still 'stiff' at best. Oddly, the microscope head can be rotated around to the side (either side) although the head needs to be angled. This angle, however, does not have a significant effect on the focus within the FOV so the arm can be mounted off to the side rather than somewhere in front of you. The focus adjustment can be adjusted by loosening the 2 bolts nearest the microscope head (loosening the bolts is the way you adjust tension of all movement - not ideal and will need continual adjustment throughout the life of the scope. Optics are very good, works with or without my glasses (without glasses I get a slightly bigger FOV). Yes watch for things that come apart in shipping. One of the very, very tiny eyepiece lock screws was loose in the box. I was fortunate to find mine - pure luck (~1mm x 3mm screw). I just G clamped my base to my table rather than bolting/screwing it to the table.

    $50+ for a ring light is no small amount. I'd have expected the company to include some sort of a light at this price point. Also, lacking digital media interface is a bit of a deal-breaker for me as I would be interested in capturing my work for reference and educational purposes. Overall, very good review, thanks!

    Perhaps a dumb question, but should the scope be perpendicular to the object/workspace your viewing? For the most part, it appears that's the way you're using it in the video.
    I know the ability to change this exists, but does it change the focus of object, so maybe part in focus, part not in focus?

    Hello @branchuscreations i was looking to purchase the microscope for stone setting (jewelry) the one i currently have currently blurrs once i move the piece up or down less than a CM, is the focus of this microscope good enough for me to still see without having to adjust the height of the microscope everytime what i focus on moves up and down one centimeter?

  • @jeffreygwinn5081
    @jeffreygwinn5081 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bruce, just getting into getting my feet wet with circuit board repair. Just had a few questions if you will. What causes so much black to show up when looking through the scope? I feel if I move my head ever so slightly the image goes black. Also, can one buy the adapter you made? I'm blind in my right eye so I just really need one eye piece. Is it normal to hear what sounds like glass crunching together when focusing?

    • @BranchusCreations
      @BranchusCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is quite normal to need to look at the exact right distance and angle to get the best view. This is the same with all optical microscopes I have tried (and telescopes for that matter). I'd be happy for you to use my camera adapter, but when the camera is connected, it actually stops you from being able to put look in the other eyepiece because it gets in the way. When you are focusing, you might be hearing the sound of grease sticking and unsticking to the gears as they rotate. It makes a sort of crackling sound.

    • @jeffreygwinn5081
      @jeffreygwinn5081 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BranchusCreationsThanks for the reply!! So doe the adapter go so far in that it blocks the view of the other eye piece? If not, I can slide over and use my good eye(lol) in the right eye piece.
