I know how to do vertex lighting but there was a limitation with the tool I was using, so I enabled vertex lighting and set all the colors to full brightness

I would make sure you have Pure Interpreter enabled if it's PJ64. Try these compatability settings if you're having trouble github.com/2dos/DK64-Randomizer/wiki/Consoles-and-Emulators
