    Its really a breath of fresh air seeing a guitarist from a band that I like who isn't all about tube amps and doesn't use hella expensive guitars and pedals. As much as I love gear I hate seeing bands I like that are using 2000 dollar amps and 1500 dollar guitars because im broke and cant afford expensive shit like that.

      guitarfan149 Even if the JC120 is a solid-state it's one of the most renowned and sought-after clean amps of all time, and they're pretty fucking expensive - upwards of 1000 bucks. It's not about tube vs solid state, it's about what sounds good.

    Check out the plain sliced red oak stile and rail door behind him; it has a full lite, probably 1/4" tempered glass with milled oak sticking. The door should be 1 3/4" thick, but check out the hinges... they appear to be 4" X 4" which is very odd. Also it looks like someone installed a cheap-o grade II lever lock on there, which is sagging.

I know from experience it's not good when a tube goes out .. The mexican Fenders are just as good if not better than the "American" fenders. The real difference is in the alloy quality of the metal in the hardware. The stuff overseas is generally sourced from cheaper alloy with some exceptions. Mexican Fenders run anywhere from 500 to 700 and they're phenomenal instruments.

      Anthony Cusmano :
      Yea , pretty much everything this guy said about the amp in the video applies to the JC40 , honestly I think the jc40 sounds even better .
      The jc40 is just a smaller version of the 120 and 70 but it’s not too small , you can crank this thing if u want .
      If u wanna sound similar to the smiths , the cure , Diiv , beach fossils , turnover , new order , and etc , then this is the amp for you .
      From now on , whenever you watch a live recording of any band , keep your eyes peeled for a jazz chorus amp on the stage , you’d be surprised how many famous bands use this amp . Believe it or not , Limp bizkit even uses this amp .
      I have homemade music on my channel that is made with the JC40 , check it out if U want an idea of what a guy who can barley play guitar sounds like using a jc40 and a squier j mascis .

    What are the "headaches" associated with tube amps that he kept talking about?

    • @TheMrBenny123
      @TheMrBenny123 8 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      +Dylan Short I believe he's referring to the fact that tube amps are easily broken when you're on the road and stuff

    • @samuelsanchez8154

      Dylan Short Getz probably just doesn't want to carry spare tubes to replace tubes which inevitably go dead in an amp on tour. And the tubes are made of glass, so they're not as rugged as a JC-120 (which is very utilitarian in design)

      They take a beating on tour. Used to have to replace my mesa tubes often back in the day. So, yes a few ‘headaches’ to answer your question but like anything there are pros and cons involved.

    • @AaBb-nu6jg
      @AaBb-nu6jg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I mean, Tube Amps have to be regularly maintained and serviced due to the fact that they have tubes. Solid State amps simply don’t have to be maintained anywhere near to as much. For some people that difference in extra maintenance for tube amps is headache inducing. 🤷‍♂️

    • @brett327

      @@brett327 And tell me, how much do Tubes Cost? How much does a gigging musician on the road usually have in terms of expendable income? Therefore, for some, tubes can be a headache in other ways. 🤷‍♂️

      @@AaBb-nu6jg If you can afford a $2000 amp, you can afford to spend $100 on tubes every couple years. Have you ever owned a professional tube amp?

    • @AaBb-nu6jg
      @AaBb-nu6jg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@brett327 I own dozens of Tube Amps, some vintage, some modern. I have a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier, a 1970s Silverface Fender Twin Reverb, a PRS Archon 25, and a bunch more. Just because someone can afford a one time purchase of an expensive amp doesn’t mean they’ll be able to afford tubes if one or more of them suddenly go bad. By your logic, if a musician can afford a $2000 amp, then they should be able to afford food, gas, and rent. But we all know that MANY musicians struggle to afford even those things sometimes. Sorry you’re too stuck in your own echo chamber to realize that MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, Tubes could POSSIBLY be a headache for SOME musicians. If I thought like you do, with your level of reasoning (or lack thereof) I’d be saying that you hate all solid-state amps and think they all suck. Obviously you’ve never stated such, but your opinions shared here are so close-minded and assumptionary that they fall into that line of thinking. 🤷‍♂️
