Seriously have been hunting Modern Baseball's (and Jake's in particular) gear for so long now and it was beginning to drive me nuts how little footage/photos there were of his stuff and how little he talked about it as well. This couldn't have come at a better time! Now just do one for Bren, Ian and Sean ;)
Bren uses a JHS Sweet Tea, three white strats, one which looks like a Made in Mexico Standard Stratocaster, one is an American Professional Shawbucker HSS strat, and one is A shawbucker American Elite Stratocaster. He plays into a hot rod deville, with the Sweet tea, basically the same delays as jake, but he also has dark matter i believe. he also has but doesn't really use a Fender Modern Player Starcaster, A fender Modern player HH Jazzmaster, A Fender American Special Telecaster, and then the famous silver Fender Blacktop Telecaster from the Your Graduation video.
It was in the music video but he seems to lean pretty hard on the Elite Strat and the Pro shawbucker Strat! He played a show with Broken Beak and did a little solo thing at a Pizza place in CT with Queen Moo and he was raving about the Elite Strat. (Jason Rule of Queen Moo had a string break and Bren, who loves Queen Moo, let Jason borrow his Elite Strat). I did notice that the Black Starcaster AND his white American Special Telecaster were there, but being played by Beau, the vocalist for Broken Beak. I have a Modern Player Starcaster that I love, but I can understand why he's more attached to his Elite Strat (I have a Mystic Black SSS Elite strat rather than the Shawbucker version and its great). He also was playing that Black Modern Player Jazzmaster a lot for Festivals but when Fender starts throwing you some guitars scraping the 2 grand range, I'd understand why he'd make the swap.
Fender also just threw him an American Elite Precision Bass and an American Elite Shawbucker Tele Deluxe so I don't really see him using the Modern Player guitars much anymore.
I love how Fender is reaching out to all these smaller bands now. It seems like every band I follow is being tossed a few guitars ever since they came out with the Elite and Professional series.
I legit comeback to this video so often, I have replicated this set up almost exactly, I just don't have the flashback, but I keep coming back and listening, this is probably the band and the video that got me more interested in gear and taking guitar a bit more seriously.
I love these type of videos where musicians talk and demo their gear they use. I guess most musicians prefer these questions in interviews because they can explain how exactly they do their things. I also enjoyed the video of Stories, maybe you can get the band back and talk about their gear I saw interesting pedals on their boards :)
Jake's tone was the first one that caught my attention. I've never really cared for guitar tones before, but I think I want to start building a small pedalboard now. Anyone know any good starter amps? I have a pretty bad Line 6 from like 2005, so I think I'll change up that first.
Its an older one i think, the current model has a different LED for the moonshine right side. Still a very nice pedal, dont think they made any significant changes to it
then get some lessons or something. or even if you cant get lessons, buy a cheap guitar and use google to learn simple chords and picking patterns to start out. try going back and forth between chords over and over. practice every day and keep on it. a big part of learning guitar is playing the same shit over and over again. it can be tedious but if you want to learn an instrument its necessary to stay disciplined and do it. its not very hard at all to play the kind of stuff Modern Baseball play, it just takes some time. and i wouldnt recommend learning bass first because youre just avoiding the bigger obstacle. thats what i did, i got a bass first cause i thought it would make guitar easier to learn but it doesnt all that much. get the big obstacle out of the way, learn to play guitar, and then bass will be no problem.
Well probally not if you dont have a Vox AC30 which is a very expensive and one of the best sounding amps. Also you probally dont have an American Fender Telecaster

Tom, he actually uses his Starcaster quite a bit. I know he used it a lot on the Holy Ghost tour.

That double barrel is so sick. I might need to snag one.

2 ProCo Rats in sequence will produce a nightmare of noise. It's what Graham Coxon uses for the fuzz breakdowns on the later Blur albums.
5:02 seriously awesome tone
i don't speak music equipment but this is cool
Literally, same.
So simple, but it sounds awesome. Gonna try out this trick with adding a subtle amount of slapback delay. This Tele is super sexy as well.
Awesome stuff here
that guitar is beautiful
Nice simple rig with a great tone.
He got the no neck pickup and hot rails in the bridge from Andy Hull.. Haha
totally want his guitar!....just need it in left-handed haha
Same bro
get the guitar and just string it upside down hahahah!
+Matty Fedczuk (Matthew) Try walking around backward everywhere with your head turned around :)
corn paws It was good enough for Jimi
I love the fact that he's wearing a Wyoming shirt
Same
I stack a mxr micro amp and an ocd. Sounds great!
Other guitarist in my band rocks those exact two for drive hell yeah
Jake is the best human.
are there any gear videos of the other guitarist? I love that tone he has on that lead in the beginning of this video.

Fender Blues Jr or a Vox AC15C1. Both great pedal friendly amps that have great cleans.
I use the JHS Double Barrel for dream-pop and shoegaze oriented stuff. There is never a point where I will sell it.
This has been my dream guitar since I was 14. All cuz Jake played it. Which I know is stupid. But eh
Josh Shaw I feel exactly the same
will toledo too
Not stupid at all
I’m selling a butterscotch one at the moment
You can hear The Killers' influence in every part/function of his setup, lol
Everyone commenting about how long they tried to replicate that pedal board... meanwhile I wanted to hear something about amps
Assuming he's plugged into the amp behind him and not something off camera it looks like a Vox AC30.
lmao he keeps saying meaty and it's grossin' me out.
What about when he said girth haha
i still laugh remembering these comments in my head
meaty
m e a t y
m e a t y

Jhs double barrel
Before i start this video. I'VE GOTTA SAY I'VE SEARCHED FOR A VIDEO LIKE THIS. CUZ I NEED TO KNOW THEIR SETUP DAWG
I got a tele like jake's!
Dude, how? what model is it?
It's a Fender American Elite Telecaster.
anyone know which version of the double barrel this is?
Its an older one i think, the current model has a different LED for the moonshine right side. Still a very nice pedal, dont think they made any significant changes to it
Is that the classic series?
Fuck me I wish I could play guitar.
Buy a guitar! There's only one way to learn, and it's not wishing! ;)
If you've already tried to learn guitar and felt overwhelmed I suggest trying bass guitar. I have more fun playing bass and its way easier to learn :D
Thanks for the advice, I did try once, maybe I'll give it another shot.

Any idea on which ac30 model he’s using?
I'm trying to figure out if it's a 2x12 or 1x12. Any luck?
Can someone tell me the intro song?
It's Everyday by Modern Baseball, lol
