I felt kinda envious at the start of the video because Jasmine seems to have her life more sorted out than I have mine, and that lots of things are going her way, but towards the end of it, I think I had to realize that she put in the effort to get to where she is, and if I want to be there too, I have to work just as hard as she does.
I'll be going into my 12th year at the end of the summer, and I'm not entirely sure if I'll even be at the same school I was last year, and that scares me. I'm not sure of fate, and I don't know what it has in store,but I do know where I want to be.
I think what I'm trying to say is, seeing Jasmine make such a life-changing decision just like that makes me want to crawl under a blanket and cry about my future, but at the same time it makes me want to do better in hopes of being just as at ease as she is with her future.
Does that make sense? I dunno, I'm sorry.😅

you got this!! im bethany, a sophomore in hs and my friends and i made this company, Colleage that provides college counseling. what's different about this is that it's BY STUDENTS WHO GOT IN RECENTLY (we have UCLA, Princeton, UC Berkeley, Cornell, Duke, and more!), within 5 years of graduation from the college! the website is collegae.weebly.com !! basically during each mentor session, you can ask the mentors anything, from their stats, to what extracurriculars they did, or how the managed their time well enough in high school to get in! hope this helps:)
I get you! I was a high school senior last year and it was tough to watch people on TH-cam who just seemed more put together and are going to do amazing things. I was a good student but there is so much uncertainty around what school I would go to and a bigger challenge - what I want to major in. I just felt so tired, and I couldn't see the point in things. But I'm about to finish my first year at Uni and I realized that you just gotta focus on your journey. It's differently going to suck (It still sucks for me lol, still tryna figure out my interests in life) but just work on improving yourself and doing what makes you happy. Just breathe :3 And it's differently okay to remove yourself from stressful and overwhelming situations and to just relax

OMG! I can’t believe you chose UCLA! I’m so happy for you! When I had to choose which college to go to, it also came down to UCI and UCLA and I ultimately went with UCLA because I felt like there were more options available for me. My freshman year is currently being ruined by COVID-19 but I still can tell you all about UCLA from a first hand experience! :)

As a sophomore in a relatively small state school I really love the atmosphere of smaller schools. My largest class is chemistry and there’s around 60 people versus some schools of class sizes of 200+. I also feel the the admins are more willing to work with and fight for you because you can very easily make a personal connection with them

I was so bummed when you said Mt. Holyoke was in the middle of nowhere lol! I live here and it's next to a really active and thriving town (Northampton, MA)! If anyone is considering attending, college and social life around here is really wonderful and accommodating!

Ohmygod schools are expensive in there. Jeesh. I feel so sad for people who can’t afford proper education. In Finland you have all your education free!!! And all I mean everything. You can be a doctor and pay nothing.. (well small stuff like books sometimes) Government actually even give students money so they don’t have to work and can focus on school. I was living with my parents when I went to Uni and still got money from government. Damnn... Will people be in debt then 100k when they graduate? 🥺
Yes. People here are paying off student loans for decades after they graduate. Don't even think about becoming a medical doctor. The debt is crushing.

I graduated high school last year too and went to my local university because it was the safest (and cheapest) option, but I found some programs that I like a lot better at Ryerson so I applied. I got my acceptance letter recently for my #2 program (I'm still waiting on the #1 program) and I totally relate to her excitement about university decisions!

These sort of videos weren't a thing when I was in high school. I wonder if I would have done differently with my applications had that been the case. I didn't see the choice of college as that important, had one in mind that fit my preferences, applied knowing I would be accepted based on people I knew who were students there, bam. Got in. Wasn't a big fuss.
It's amazing the things you don't know when one parent didn't go to college at all and the other was never academically invested. I had to figure it out by myself.

I'm from the UK and I'm also at that point of choosing which university to pick. I'm 90% sure which one I want to pick but its that feeling of finality in clicking the accept offer button that makes me hesitate. This video has inspired me just to jump and accept, thank you. It’s very refreshing to see someone paying real attention to the cost implications. I feel like too many kids go to colleges that are way too expensive because they got in somewhere prestigious - often even passing up a full ride to a “less prestigious” school. When those 4 years are up (and they go FAST), you’ll be happy to not be in a boatload of debt.
You’re so humble and down to earth. I appreciate how understanding and considerate you are :)
